I think we can all agree, Fed has gotten away very lightly on this.

We will never know.
Well if he couldn't beat Sam Querrey a week ago then it's ideal we give him a 50-50 shot of beating Kei and Stan. Which means we don't assume Nick wins the tourney based on his form in the Djokovic match as he tends to be shaky in certain matches.

Yet Nick has a 0-3 record vs Kei Nishikori of all people. Nick winning the tournament wasn't a given, nor was it a given Nick would have defeated Federer in Federer's current form. Nick has been inconsistent from match to match so who knows what version would have shown up today vs Federer.

Kei takes the ball early and redirects it well. Sometimes it's just a matchup issue.

I mean when is KeiSuck playing? Did that match get moved up? I guess not. Effing food posion! I think players should not eat to avoid these types of unfortunate situations!

Lol, not a wise thing to do, trust me. Although you just have to be careful with what you eat when you're at these big events. Personally, if I had the means, I'd just rent a house like Fed has done in the past, and then make all my meals for myself.

All top players have had walkovers or had to withdraw due to injury in some point in their careers.

There isn't some "Conspiracy" from Haas to get Federer the title lol, no doubt the haters can use that card.

haha well of course I was joking:p That would be a good idea. I dunno though, what do GOATS eat? hay? grass? topspin?:D

2014 Miami open. Nishikori defeated Federer in the qf, pulls out of the sf. Berdych also pulled out of the sf. It was a very weird day. Djokovic and Nadal both got walkovers. That was probably the weirdest thing I ever saw.

Yeah, it happens.

Nick is young and still half a head case. Let's see how he does against kei from here on out. As he demonstrated by taking joker out in straight sets he was playing better than anyone else.

But Federer is playing better than Djokovic at the moment. Just because Kyrgios took out zoned out Djokovic doesn't mean he would necessarily take out Federer.

The food poisoning alibi is utter BS.
It is impossible to get food poisoning in that (wealthy) area in SoCal, and I've only lived there 25 years.
Our buddy Nick had a few drinks, a couple of spliffs and banged a HOT chick..:D..
To deflate against Roger like that is a shame..

BUT: My wife came home from work last weekend and started throwing up. She thought she had food poisoning too. There has been a nasty stomach virus going around, and it's not impossible that Nick got it.

That said, I'd be inclined to believe other players far more. Talk about the "boy who cried wolf"!

kyrgios is a whole different league of server than isner and roddick for those who say federer does well against big servers. kyrgios is up there with sampras, taking into account both first and second serves and not just first serves. isner and roddick have powerful serves. kyrgios has power plus placement and its much harder to read his serves

His talent is a bit overrated me thinks. No way I would call Nick more talented than Nishi (who's a very talented shotmaker himself).

I am no fan of Nick and think he's a jerk, but he's vastly more talented than Kei. Like Paul Annacone said this week, Nick is the most talented player he's ever seen since Roger (thus dissing Rafa, Djoker and.... Kei). At the end of their careers (assuming Nick remains healthy most of the time), he'll have 4-6 majors and Kei will remain eternally at zero.

Nick kinda hates Fed. He'll put all his will into the serve and finish him in 3 sets

Nick on Fed :

“I remember watching him play,” Kyrgios told reporters at the tournament. “I still watch him a lot when I’m in my room doing nothing. I would just go on YouTube and watch him. I think he’s the greatest of all-time. “He’s the one role model I have—off the court as well—because of the way he carries himself, helping people.”

Doesn't seem like he hates Fed. STTYT, mate.

Maybe. Or Nick might end up another Philippousis.

Keep believing that.

It's the truth. Federer is playing better than Djokovic these days and just because Kyrgios took out Djokovic doesn't mean he would take out Federer. The comparison is ludicrous. They are completely different match-ups. I think an on his game Kyrgios could very well take out Federer but I think Federer would have a better chance to beat him than this Djokovic corpse we've watched for the past year.

I'm sure we'll get the chance to see Kyrgios vs Federer in the near future. So until then......

Yeah that's definitely bizarre. Hard to believe two pro players would withdraw from big matches like that. It would suck to be a fan in attendance that day. You paid to see two matches, and instead you got none. :(

Wonder if this has anything to do with those wonderful exotic looking dishes the famous chefs prepared for the IW players in the ATP's promo video...

Larry Ellison probably paid Kyrgios a couple hundred grand to make an excuse so Ellison could ensure and witness a Fed final ..
