FYI, there is a locker room / shower at the courts that you are free to use. So you can shower here after playing and head right back to watch tennis.

There isn't any parking at the condo for guests, so you will need to park at the tennis garden. We'll meet at the North Entrance and walk over.

Here is a list of people who have contacted me interested in hitting. Send me a note through TT with your contact info if you want to be added to the list.
  1. r2473; 10th - 15th; 4.0+/4.5 level
  2. @Mainsacross; 11th - 13th; 4.0 level
  3. @FedererExpress; 11th and 12th; 4.0 level
  4. @DNShade; 10th - 15th; 5.0 level
  5. @BlueB; 11th - 15th; 4.0 level
  6. @ghostrider; 11th - 14th; 4.5 level
  7. @Nadalgaenger; 11th - 14th; 4.5 level
  8. @GRANITECHIEF; 11th - 14th; 5.0+ level
  9. @Rob_C; 10th and 11th; 5.0 level
  10. @Yaz; 10th and 11th; 4.5 level
I fly in late on the 9th; fly out early on the 16th. So I'm looking to hit 10th-15th.

I'll add everyone to a text message and send something out each morning. We can decide as a group the best time to hit. It will have to be in the afternoon or evening. Morning isn't available.

All the courts are reserved in the morning for rotating social doubles for guests. Goes from 7am-10am. If you want to join this group, contact me.

My condo is right across the street from the tennis garden and has 5 courts, 3 of which have lights.

I'll be there minimum March 11-12, I would be down to hit!
Go ahead and send me an email and we'll set something up.

The courts are literally a 10 minute walk from the Stadium. There is a changing room and a shower you can use.

My preferred playing time is around 4. Then I typically cook some dinner and head back for the night session. I'll cook a burger and have beers for everyone after playing if they so desire. Pool is open for your use too.

Wow! Sounds awesome! Count me in! I'll only get the ground passes, so might be a little tricky to workout, but I'm definitely in for at least one of the days if not more. Ideally I would love to hit in the mornings, and then head right over for the day sessions haha. But at the end of the day, my only goal for this year is to see Federer Practice haha... Sent you a PM!

I am there 11th, 12th and possibly the 13th. I am down to meet and hit in the afternoon between the day and night sessions.

I'll be there the 12th through the 16th if anyone fancies some mixed.
If you are looking to play, send me a note through the system. I can either add you to the list (so far only guys looking to play singles), or I can have you join the rotating doubles at the condo in the morning from 7am until it ends. It is always a mix of men and women. Most are middle aged and older. It's fun.

I am down for mixed dubs or dubs too. Keep the legs fresh.

And you thought the practice courts around Fed and Nadal were packed.....
A SureshS practice will beat the Federer practice numbers before Hofman cup and the Nishikori practice sessions in Tokyo. TTW has atleast a few hundred thousand members, methinks, and everyone will get a ticket to witness this enormous, gargantuan, titanic event.

It is a 2 hour drive and I don't like driving. I was there a few years ago and stayed for 4 days. It kinda gets boring.
It does get boring, especially if you sit there from 11am until 11pm like people do. Which is why I like to find guys to hit with in the afternoon. Then a little time in the pool, shower (maybe I should switch the order of those :)), and a nice dinner and I'm ready for one more night match. I also don't get burned out over the course of the week.

I'll be in some hotel from 11-13, then in La Quinta Resort until 22nd... Wife, kid... but probably can play.

So excited to going this weekend + Mar 11-14. That would be great to get out a hit a few! r2473, do you still have my contact info? I have yours unless you got a new mobile #.
Staying at Hyatt, rubbing elbows with the players.

I should be out there during that time as well. Maybe we can finally get a hit in too - ha.

I got roped into going out of a sense of obligation... I think the day of the 15th but I'm not certain. I dread it.

Just back from IW. Our hotel La Quinta Embassy Suites blocked Tennis Channel when tourny started Monday morning. How weird is that? Obviously not hotel's fault. Anyone else have this happen...

Then who blocked it? The cable/satellite provider? Is there a deal they have with IW not to show it so people have to pay for tickets?

Hotel front line employees had no answers. And, probably could not have cared less. Only assumption is Ellison / Haas told my hotel to kill the connection. I'm hoping others from other hotels will chime in.

Sorry I don't have any idea regarding your TW predicament. I'm just wondering if you're going back to IW tomorrow. Did you get lots of pics?

Sorry for hijacking a bit again. Just curious if anyone is driving down from LA later. I'd love to chip in to get a ride, or if anyone is interested, we can split on an uber from LA to indian wells too (Only $40 each if we get 4)

Gentlemen: I discovered some really nice public courts off of Fred Waring. PM me if you want to hit there early tomorrow or Thursday.

A player who claims to serve in the 120s should not be losing to anyone 2 and 3, other than a current D1 player.

But I guess in a forum where everyone claims to serve over 100 and send their second serves bouncing 7 feet high at the fence, anything is possible.

@sureshs I played @r2473 same night as @Rob_C mentioned, and I won 3-1, we played short 4 games... he does have huge servers, both 1st and 2nd, but it is not consistent. Don't remember how many double fault he had that night, around 40% maybe. His 1st and 2nd server, seemed to me, not too much differences.

He has a heck of a serve. He was blasting his second serve faster than most guys hit their first serve.

He's an excellent player and one of the nicest guys I've met in a while.

I'll second that...who knows if it's really 120 but he does serve pretty big on both serves, best I could do was block it back and hope for the best. He was also nice enough to bring a case of balls and water. FedererExpress and Mainsacross were also super nice guys and good players. Hope to meet some of you other guys next year.

I really don't care about his serve speed, frankly. It is because he claimed to serve in the 120s and was always making fun of me. Turns out he loses 2 and 3 to a guy who loses 1 and 4 to another poster. And he did not post the scores himself even though he created this thread. He seems to be quite low in the pecking order of those posters who visited IW this year. Tennis scores do not lie. So it is funny that after all these years mocking me, this is all he has to show in a real game.

I recently entered scores for the umpire sitting next to the chair for several D1 matches. They were not serving 120. Could a 3.5 player serve 120? In theory yes, but in real life, there is always a strong correlation between the serve and the rest of the game. The guys who serve 120 are really good players and they would be wiping the court with rec players.

Thanks Rob... you too, we had some good rallies!
Watching @Rob_C and @HodeClassicMP hit groundstroke rallies was beautiful. They both have amazing groundstrokes on both sides. Hode did win their 4 game battle, but they are really even. Solid 4.5 to 4.5+ players. @FedererExpress is right up there with them, but probably is a shade less consistent. But solid player.

But Yaz is a probably 1/2 step or so above both of them. No weaknesses. He says he's 4.5, but he looks 5.0 to me. You don't meet too many guys that play as well as he does. He hit a few serves in the ~110 mph range without over hitting.

Those are great courts so we managed to meet an hit just as the sun was rising. That was fun. Nadalgaenger is a good 4.0 player. He's working hard on his game and I'd expect he'll be much better in a short while.

@Mainsacross has only been playing for 3 or 4 years, and he's REALLY good for his experience level. Way ahead of the curve. His forehand is very good and he gets lots of easy power. He and I rallied for several hours. Lots of fun, thanks.

r2473 is the same guy who claims to serve in the 120s

Certainly no 120 mph serves this week. Fastest was probably ~100 mph at most. Like I said sureshs, my 194 kmh serve I mentioned in another thread is off a match I played on a Playsight court. Who know, probably way off. I probably can't serve much above 90 mph really and actually get it in play. As for scores, I was probably the worst of the group. I might have won a few games here and there, but that's about it.

Thanks to everyone who made it out for a hit. Everyone was very cool and that made it really fun. Maybe we'll meet up again in future years.

I had a great time hitting with you guys. r2473's hospitality was one of the highlights of my trip. Hitting and talking with him also made me think real hard about the deficiencies in my game. He fed me a bagel the first day and a bread stick the next like the good host he is. Beyond the scoreline, I learn't from hearing him talk about the importance of consistency and margin created by topspin. I will never play his style but I can learn from it nonetheless.

Yaz is a monster and the 20-30 minutes that we rallied were a blur of flat, fast shots on both wings. It helped that I hit with him first and had fresh legs to burn; otherwise, he would have blown me off court. Rallying with players like him is my favorite thing because the balls are right in my strike zone and the sheer pace means I don't have to work as much. But in a match, I wouldn't have taken any games off him and a golden set would not have been out of the question. The guy really has game and is a class act all around.

Let's do it again next year guys.
