About to start
2-1 Rochus, on serve, Rochus gives Roger alot of problems, i dont know why but he does.
Rochus serving for the set. 5-3, 30-0
Rochus is up 5-3, serving for the first set, Roger is serving awful.
1st set Rochus. 6-3.
Roger seving around the 40%, making uncharateristic errors.
Wake up call for Roger now!
Roger has been not himself, thats for sure.
3-1 second set for fed
Alright so it looks like Roger is ready to make a comeback and put this thing away.
4-1 for the fed
4-2 for fed!!!!1
That's the problem with being Federer. Everyone comes out firing and you can't let your guard down for a second.
fed holds serve 5-2
Fed wins the second set, 6-2, he will serve in the 3rd set, apparently Roger needs to know that.
Ok, Fed should take this set and even it out....if he can pull this set out...he'll have the edge going into the third.
I'm in the stadium watching it. Fed struggled in his last service game, but he held. Rochus to serve at 3-2 in the third.
Hey VamosRafa, whats the expression on Roger's face?I think he needs to work some things out in his game
Rochus serving. 15-0. 15-15, as Rochus hits BH into net. He yells. Fault. Great FH by Rochus. 30-15. Great FH exchange, and then Rochus hits BH wide. 30-30. Fault. FH into net. 40-30. Fault. FH goes long. Game, Rochus. 3-3.
Hey VamosRafa, are u seated closely?U got nice seats?
Fed to serve. Rochus hits return long. 15-0. Fed gets to dropshot, but hits volley long. 15-15. Fans are getting behind Roger. I can't see his facial expressions, coz in in the second tier of suites. But I have a good view. OH by Fed. 30-15. 40-15, as Roger makes easy volley. Hits volley long that time. 40-30. He's not exactly putting on a volleying clinic. Fault. Beautiful dropshot by Rochus. Fed can't get there. Deuce. Fault. Ad Rochus, as Fed can't handle Rochus BH. Ace. Deuce. Great clutch serving by Fed. Easy OH for Fed. Ad Fed. Let. Let. Rochus into net. Game Fed. 4-3.
just from watching the live scores, it seems like his first serve % is crappy.
My seats are pretty good, but not at the box level. But I can sit inside or outside to watch the action, which is nice if it's cold or hot. And I have a desk inside, which is convenient, too. Rochus to serve. DF. 0-15. This is where Rochus is going to have to stay tough. Fault. FH crosscourt winner. 15-15. Fed misses dropshot after second serve. 30-15. He looks displeased with hiimself over that one. 40-15. Bad miss by Fed, as he hits FH wide. OMG, Fed can't handle volley. Game, Rochus.
Roger needs to break and soon, a tie-breaker is the worst scenario, believe it or not, simply by how he has served.
Fed to serve, at 4-4. Fault. Screaming FH return winner off second serve. 0-15. Fault. Rochus missed BH off second serve. 15-15. Rochus overhits return. 30-15. Fault. BH winner by Fed. 40-15. Return into net. Game, Fed.
And I also have free Diet Cokes, too. Rochus to serve. Fans are supporting Fed here, lots of cheering. Fed slices BH long. 15-0. Let. FH winner by Fed, and he does a fist pump. 15-15. Fault. Great FH by Rochus. Roger into net. 30-15. Roger hits BH long. 40-15. FH winner by Fed. 40-30. Fed wants to break here. Fault. Great FH by Fed, Rochus hits wide. Deuce. Crowd is getting excited. Fed hits return long. Ad Rochus. Fed hits FH wide. Game Rochus. Fed can't believe he missed that.
Fed serving at 5-5. Fault. Fed misses FH into net. UE. 0-15. Fault. Rochus jsut misses pass. Fed was lucky there. 15-15. Fault. Volley winner by Fed. 30-15. Ace, down the T. 40-15. Great serve, and volley winner. Game Fed. His serving improved there. 6-5, Rochus to serve to take it to a TB.
Diet Coke time. 15-0. BH into net. Double fault. 15-15. Rochus his FH long. 15-30. He seems a bit nervous, and I don't blame him. Rochus misses volley. 15-40. Two matchpoints for Fed. Beautiful winner by Fed. He wins. But he doesn't exactly look unbeatable.
Roger signs camera lens. And he's signing tennis balls to hit into crowd.
I spoke with Steve Bellamy yesterday, and he said that he believes the players who played in Dubai are at a disadvantage because of the time zone change. He notes that the players who have been playing in the US seem fresher than the Dubai players. And I tend to agree, as to both Rafa and Roger. Hopefully Rafa can hang in there tonight. I'm goimg to go out and watch him practice.
It's that self assurance and confidence he has, that in tight situations he knows he can step it up ever so slightly and his opponent will most likely falter just a bit.
Still, he has to be concerned about how his game has been off and on this year.
Well, Rochus choked away that last game, IMO. He clearly was tight, and Fed took advantage.
Federer needs to work on his game, simple as that, he dodged a major bullet, he needs to bring it next match. As a Roger fan, i am starting to get concerned, he needs to be more aggresive.
The point is that he always finds a way to win, no matter how badly he's playing. He'll need that quality against Gasquet who seems to be on fire.
I am betting on GAsquet for the upset
^^^^Perhaps. Gasquet knows he has the ability to beat Fed and when he finds out about how Roger played today against Rochus, he'll only gain confidence.
I'm looking forward to that one. It's third on stadium. Think I'l start my day with Berdych/Baghdatis, then Andreev/Roddick, Fed/Gasquet and hopefully Rafa will play after that. I'm really looking forward to his doubles match against Grosjean and Gasquet. At least they put it on Stadium 2, so there's a chance I'll get a seat. *lol*
With all the players left in the draw...the way they've played, there is no real favorite in either of these matches, it can easily be all 3-setters.
You can expect some great and exciting tennis! Wish I could watch it live
