Indian Wells - Rafael Nadal urges tougher penalties

This is fake news spread by commentators and players who think the only way to hamper Rafa is to take time away from him. The enforcement was brought in on the back of Federer as president of the player's council in 2012, effective from January 2013, whilst Rafa was off the tour for 7 months with Hoffa's Syndrome. All the enforcement has done is improve Rafa's attacking game and he actually played far better when he came back in 2013 and ended the year as #1 even though he missed Australia. That proves that his game doesn't rely on how much time he takes between points.

Norrie tried to use the TV rule against Rafa at RG and the umpire told him that Rafa was playing within the time limit.

French Open tennis - 'It's reasonable' - Rafael Nadal defended by umpire with Cameron Norrie angry at delays

'It's a reasonable amount of time.' The umpire had to defend Rafael Nadal with Britain's Cameron Norrie not overly happy with being made to wait during their third-round match at Roland Garros. Norrie was taking on the formidable challenge of facing the 'King of Clay' at his home from home at Roland Garros on Court Suzanne Lenglen on Saturday afternoon.

Rafa doesn't take any more time than the majority of players. Shapovalov threw his toys out of his pram in Australia crying about how Rafa is given too much time because the umpires are all corrupt then it turned out that Shapovalov's average time between points was also over the time limit.

All i read was blq, blq, blq, im a Nadal biased blinded fanboy, who doesn't see further than my idol.......
Everone that has eyes can see he is cheating big time with the time violation and he ia getting away with it, cause he is a cry baby and ATP enforced the umpires to start his clock 15 sec later every goddamn point.
Just in the Medvedev match there wasnt a single serve on him within the rules.
Don't try to answer me i see no reason to argue with a crybaby that the moment i bring he video clips evidence he goes on hiding or start crying to the mods to delete my posts.
Wnjoy my ignore list fany....

If I'm on your 'ignore list' why are you responding to my comments? You don't want the truth, you just want to live in your world of make-belief.

Nuff said

You again created lies about Rafa!

It looks like I am talking with some dirty mouth talker, no a mature grown up man. Sorry, man, not interested in supporting this conversation. I wish you all the best.
What "it looks like" is that you are sensitive when you are attacked but hostile with others when nobody's going after you. I have no wish or apology to offer but a hope that you'll be "interested in supporting" the TTW threads' topics with an open mind and without any prejudice.

I like being attacked by smart arguments, intellect and people that know more than I know. I don't like wasting my time talking with people are playing with word "anal yzing", thinking that it is clever and impressing. Please find another TTW member that will appreciate your anal wishes. Once again - I enjoy smart arguments and love meeting people that are smarter than me. Good luck and bye.

Biggest meltdown is when he went nuts on tennis umpire Carlos Bernandes. He used the word "barbiridad" which translates to atrocity, in reality that the word is a tad vulgar to express something is nonsensical. He also told Carlos that he didn't want him to officiate anymore of his matches and told him "tranquilo" essentially be quiet while he spoke. Never saw Nadal angrier at any Umpire. Of course, this is nothing close to the Sasha incident.

I don't think "barbaridad" is a vulgar word?

But yeah, the umpire he's had problems with has been Bernardas. I think it was actually two separate instances, that you're describing. The "barbaridad" one (match with Berdych maybe?) and the time that he told him he didn't want him to keep umpiring his matches was a later match, I think the one where Bernardes wouldn't let Rafa go inside to change his shorts which he had put on backwards and he had to do it on the court, covering himself with a towel.

'he's breaking the rules (and the chair)!'

Isn't the topic of this thread about Rafa's call for tougher penalties in the ATP?

Don't go over users' character, when you want to "enjoy smart arguments"! Your continuous damage control is pitiful now. Perhaps, you didn't get off on the right foot in the TTW. ;)

Another thread ruined by @Visionary
Why a rookie would defend another rookie's questioning of my TTW character and also attack me here is beyond me. If you hold a grudge against me from your previous life, do let me know on a separate thread! Otherwise, the user's, yours or my posts are just a "ruin" like you said. None of us will get out of here on a high horse. Can you accept the notion that we should here discuss Rafa Nadal's suggestion for tougher rules in ATP?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I quoted your words.

He has gone over the time limit before and received time violations. But Shapo (and others) handled the issue the wrong way.

Djoker touches the net, and Rafa points this out. He doesn't throw a tantrum or scream at the umpire.

I asked: have you seen Rafa go over the time limit ?

Shapo was wrong. When Rafa was serving in the 2nd game of the 2nd set, he still had 8 seconds left on the serve clock when, for some reason, Shapo pointed to Bernardes as if time had run out. o_O

Yes. I have seen Rafa go over, since the introduction of the shot clock. And he has gotten a warning.

And in that particular point Shapo was mad about Carlos Bernardes "staring" him down, not because of the time limit.

The chair umpire operates the serve clock and he/she will give a player a time violation warning, if a player won't stay within the 25-second time limit. I wonder what your probem is.

The Nadal Clock is actually operated by a lever that Nadal pulls on when he adjusts his shorts.
You proved once again the theory that Rafa bashers are focused on the lower part of his body. But your obsession with that part of his body can be justified, because not only you have been captivated by his bottom, but also famous underwear designers (Armani, Tommy Hilfiger) have noticed it:

All players are "fake" to some degree and say artificial stuff. It doesn’t mean they’re liars but they tend to say things that help their public image and portrays them in a good way. Djokovic does it, Federer does it, almost everyone does it. Nadal tends to overdo it by repeatedly saying things that help him look good and sometimes it gets to the point where he sounds like a robot, which doesn’t mean he’s an a**hole or dishonest in day to day life. Him being being a nice and honest guy or not is beside the point.

Thank you for making the effort to stay polite and respectful, that way we can have a debate healthier than the stupid one we had about color complementarity. Edit : wait, that wasn’t with you. Just similar usernames, my mistake.

Rafa is no fake. Transcript of some of what Rafa said:

“The reason I have been fighting during all my tennis career, or why I have the right self-control, the right attitude or fighting spirit, is simple: Because I grew up with this kind of education,” said Nadal, now a win away from becoming the first player with 400 Masters 1000 victories.

“My uncle, my family, never allowed me to break a racquet, never allowed me to say bad words or throw a match. Of course, my parents and family, my uncle, my coach wanted me to win every single match. But that was not the most important thing.

“The most important thing was the education and the fact that I grow with the values, with the right values,” Nadal said. “I didn't have many chances. I had to do it that way. If not, I will not play tennis. Honestly. If I went on court and I created a circus, broke a racquet, say bad words, or lost my self-control, I would not be playing the next tournament, without a doubt. That's probably why I have this mentality.”

How many times are you planning to quote the same message and respond to it ? You should move on, you frankly look a bit desperate.
