Very important match for both.
Cincinnati final was a big turning point for Alcaraz. He lost it. And it cost him a lot.
This one will be a turning point as well. The winner probably wins the tournament, and they know it. (no offense to Medvedev... I think the final will be a blood bath)
This might be Alcaraz's favorite surface, and his favorite Masters. I could be wrong but I don't see winning too many Toronto, Cincinnati, Shanghaï or Bercy... IW and Miami, on the other hand...
It's almost a must-win match for him.
If he loses it, he is going to start questionning everything again.
He was supposed to be the next superstar. Is entering his Prime. Yet hasn't won a title since July. Very long drought for someone who was still ranked #1 not that long ago.
If he loses this, he probably doesn't win Miami either... He can also kiss the number #1 ranking good-bye with all the points he's about to defend.
If Alcaraz wins it on the other hand... I can only imagine how much it will boost his confidence.
Being the first player of the season to defeat Sinner.
Defending a hard court title for the first time...
If he wins, he immediately becomes THE favorite of Miami. And favorite of the whole clay season.
And still keeps a shot to be #1 if he outplays Sinner in Miami and Monaco...
Crucial match for Sinner as well, obviously.
Who is going to stop him in the near future, if even Alcaraz can't do it in Indian Wells?
If he wins, it will look more and more like Djokovic's 2011 streak.
#1 ranking will be closer and closer too... He doesn't defend anything on clay.
If he loses,... who knows how he'll take it. Clay isn't his surface. Confidence can go away fast.
I don't even know who I should support in this match, to be honest.
I'll try to watch it with an open mind.
