Indian Wells & Sickness

This is not to say anything definite... but the last few years seems to yield quite a few cases of illness (usually likely to be food poison) at the PLO in Indian Wells, if my memory serves correctly anyways.

This year doesn't seem like it, except maybe seeing a certain american player's condition in his match today. I think last year I remember a few cases. And two years ago, I think I recall a lot of cases (didn't it include Safin, or was that last year?).

Of course... it could also be the flu bug being passed around, it being early March and all...

Just wondering...

Dent apparently woke up sick today, or at least that's what PMac said Roddick said. And it sure looked like it in the couple of games against Canas that we saw.

Its very easy to get various versions of sun stroke from the intense rays in the CA desert. When I play out there my nasals dry out and my eyes feel burnt even after using polarized shades all the time. Its also very easy to get sun poisoning especially for the fair skinned even when using 40+ sun screen. I would still think that taylor could have atleast played 2 sets but it did look like he had no energy and could have been dehydrated. Lots of guesses but I seriously doubt its from alcohol but maybe food poisoning ?

Tennis tournaments go where the money is, but the weather thing is a good point. What fool's idea was it to hold a very important tennis tournament in the middle of a friggin' desert? Obviously, it's about the money, hence, there's Dubai, too.

Guys, I was there. This is a perfect time of year, in theory, for such an event. It got a little warm on Saturday, 90+/-, but then on Sunday it was 80 with a breeze, very pleasant. Plus, its a dry heat, which is much less demanding than heat with humidity. Many of the other tournaments are in a location with brutal heat and humidity, like Auz Open, Miami, etc.. Not to mention that the scenery in Indian Wells is very cool, with the snow capped mountains, palm trees and golf courses.

Too bad about Dent, I was expecting him to beat Canas, who isn't quite as tough as Safin.
