LEFT : Wilson Blade V7 Reverse (16×19)
RIGHT : YONEX EZONE 98 2022

Until recently, I used Wilson Blade V7 well, but this time I wanted to use Yonex Ezone 9822, so I bought it.
After visiting a frequent string shop and working on the string (Solinco Hyper G), I measured it with the machine above, but the figure is ambiguous, so I'm posting an inquiry.

Both rackets were set the same as below.
1) String : O (Solinco Hyper G 1.25)
2) Overgrips : O
3) Dampeners : X

First of all, I'm curious about three things.

1) Can "SWING WEIGHT" come out lower than "TOTAL WEIGHT"?

2) We generally talk about 'SWING WEIGHT'.
Should I refer to "SWING WEIGHT" from the measuring device in the picture above? Or, I wonder if I should refer to "PERFORMANCE SWING WEIGHT".

3) Currently, I think my Yonex Ezone racket has a low swing weight. (TW SWINGWEIGHT SPEC : 318)
Do you think I bought a defective racket?

I look forward to your kind answer.

Yes, if the weight is in the handle vs. the hoop or layup, then the total weight will be higher than the swing weight. The variance in SW vs. TW SW is only 3%.

I never heard of this performance SW and other one. Not familiar with the Yonex machine...
Yes swing weight is really just inertia.. it can be higher or lower than static weight depending on the distribution of the mass around the racket. Take a hammer for example.. if you swing it from the handle you will do some damage and it will require more energy/force for you to get it moving. Of you swing the same hammer by holding the head of the hammer it will feel like a fly swatter. And won't nearly do as near damage for the same swing speed etc .. In both cases hammer weighs the same but depending on which end you hold you will achieve significantly different swing weights.

It's weird that one of your SW is 318 and the other is 306. I don't even know why there are 2 numbers there. Someone that is familiar with Yonex precision center can probably help you there...

Thank you for your kind reply.
If the deviation is 3%, should it be considered acceptable?

Yes, that part was weird for me, too.
I don't understand why the difference between "SWING WEIGHT" and "PERFORMANCE SWING WEIGHT" is so big.
I think I should listen to the opinions of others who have used the "YONEX PRECISION SCAN" equipment.

Thank you for your answer!

there are yt videos and a thread on this forum about that machine, and "performance swingweight" is a newly invented term just for that machine it seems. so for your question here you can disregard that number.

there is no "deviation" in your results. weight and swingweight are two different things. you can have a 340g racquet with a 315sw - light in the head - and a 315g racquet with 340sw - head heavy. more swingweight = slower and more difficult to swing.

2022 ezones and other lighter yonex racquets have been often measured to have lower SW than what tenniswarehouse declares their average measured spec. there is no (any) manufacturer provided spec on SW so technically your ezone is not below spec. it is just below 318sw that TennisWarehouse declared average sw after they measured many racquets.

ez98 is not the same type of racquet as blade v7 16x19, so their sw doesn't really have to match at all, referenced to the same player. I'd expect that 2022 ez98 would play best for an advanced young competitor with a 315sw, maybe 320max. it's an attacking frame, not for grinding and endless defending so it's meant to be fast to swing.

if you want to get your ez98 to higher sw then buy some tourna lead tape and put 4x0.5g on 3 and 9 o'clock positions to see how that feels. if you put more than 4x1g it will slow down your swing, in a racquet that's meant to be swung really fast, so don't go too high

abbreviation TW means both tenniswarehouse and twistweight, so yeah
