Interesting Matchup: Djokovic 2015 vs Sinner 2026

Actually 2026 Djokovic is better than 2026 Sinner, beat him at the AO and beating him at Wimbledon, so 2015 Djokovic is a total mismatch.
Sinner is not even an all-time great, when compared to Djokovic and FEDAL.
Sinner will be stuck on 4 slams for a long, long, long time, the way things are going.
There is no way you are thinking Djoko is the favourite in the SF.

No, of course he's not the favorite, bookmakers and fans weren't smart enough to predict their AO semi-final, so no chance of them installing Djokovic as the favorite here...

Do you really think Sinner would have won the 7-5 and 7-6 sets vs. Struff if Struff had Djokovic's mental toughness? Sinner is screwed, and Djokovic is headed to the Final.
We will see I guess.

Djokovic nearly lost to Auger Aliassime of all people.
And we know that Sinner is a vastly superior player to FAA.

Yeah, but because he's so old, Djokovic only does enough to win.
He can't get his body to move fast enough, unless he's facing defeat.
That's what happened at the AO too, Djokovic won all the big points vs. Sinner.
The only man with more clutchness or equal clutchness to Djokovic, is Alcaraz.

BTW who do you think played at a higher level in the QF, FAA or Sinner?

Definitely Novak in 2015 as he had to play brilliantly to beat Roger in 4 sets, who was playing his best tennis for years and had crushed .Murray in SF.

We don't have a ton to evaluate 26 Sinner on yet. He hasn't played anyone of note or been forced out of his comfort zone.

Imagine if you asked a hypothetical after the 2015 quarters. There'd be a lot less faith in Djokovic because he was fresh off almost getting knocked out by Kandyman. The 2015 level we remember is from the final. Sinner could do the same, he's been fine but nothing special. He might kick it up a notch in the semis & final.

They didn't play against the same opponent, so I don't know how to judge that.

And imagine Sinner attempting to win a set vs. Federer. Total mismatch.
We talk about Alcaraz's variety (and even Djokovic's variety on occasion) causing problems for Sinner.
Federer's variety is on another level in addition to the epic serve, and he'd probably have a 10-0 h2h vs. Sinner.
