Interesting Nadal grass court statistic

Centre Court

Semi-Pro
Federer has a 64% win record against top 10 players at Wimbledon
Nadal has an 80% win record against top 10 players at Wimbledon

Judging by this, If Nadal can actually not get knocked out by the likes of a Rosol, Darcy or Brown like performance, if he faces good competition he has every chance of going deep this year, or even winning

Judging by this Nadal rarely makes it far enough to lose to top 10 players.

Federer almost always makes it to top 10 players at Wimbledon while Nadal is busy getting through the players with triple digits in their ranking. :D

He made 5 Wimbledon finals in a row
and failed to make better than fourth round in last 5 years

Wow! Thanks for that. Very nice of you to cite that.
Nadal at Wimb this year will be a great unknown, till the final stages. Of course as the grass gets worn down, the surface is also more to his liking.

That's what I was saying though, if he can somehow beat the guys earlier on then he is dangerous

But if he met a top 10 player at the same stage he was busy losing to Rosol, Darcis, Brown etc...he'd have a worse record no? When was the last time he even played a top 10 player on grass - 2011. Basically all those 11 matches were from 2006-2011, a 5 year stretch. What was Federer's top 10 win loss from 03-07 when he won 65 matches undefeated.

So the statistic posted by OP is false?
Federer is 15-5 (75%) against top 10 opponents at Wimbledon and three of those losses were in 2014/15/16.

Nadal is 6-3 (66.66%) against top 10 opponents at Wimbledon.

OP, where did you get your stats from?

Decimal defeated 9 top 10's at Wimbledon in his entire career.

WoW. Scintillating stuff.

And you beat how many on the lawns yourself?

I was very surprised by the stats given by OP. I was wondering who all those top 10 players were who managed to beat Roger.

Of course the stats were wrong.

Pulled from his butt, copying his idol.

Still, adjusted for injury Nadal is actually 9-0 (100%) against top 10 players at Wimbledon so the OP may have a point afterall. Very impressive stat for the Nadal.

Nadal always starts slowly at Wimbledon probably because he plays so many matches on clay before he gets there that it take a while to adjust his whole psyche and movement on grass. I remember his 1st round match against Gulbis in 2008 when he couldn't return serve in the 1st set which he lost 57, after that, he worked something out and took the match in 4 sets going on to beat Fed in the greatest match ever played to win the title. In 2010 he had problems against Petzchner and Haase in the early rounds and he also won the title that year.

If they played a RR formula like they do at the YE exho at the O2, who knows, Nadal could still have won Wimbledon in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

yeah, because fed/murray/djoko were sleeping in 12,13,14,15 to let rafa win in a RR format..

LOL, you are delusional ^ infinity.

Nadal lost to 100+ ranked players because he wasn't good enough on grass at that time. Deal with it.

the 2008 part is hilarious as well, considering that was the only time he won Queens ( beating Karlovic, Roddick, Djokovic). He was well adjusted on grass by the time wimby rolled around.

What's hilarious in saying in a RR you can win the title even if you lose your first match like in the WTF.

Such a brilliantly "dense" attack. But I didn't expect any more than that from a petulant child that has the urge to spam the forum with toon images.

Next time ask OP to include me as the topic of discussion.

Lol
1. it's not dense, I see you have no answer for so gracefully knocking something you couldn't acheive with 40 dreams.
2. Nice reply, you stay pressed now :D next time tell me how much I really bother you :p
3. I can spam the forum by slaying you if you desire instead :)

He has lost to a Top-10er twice (Rog 2x)
Who has he beaten though?
Murray 2011, Fish 2011, Murray 2010, Soderling 2010, Roger 2008, Djokovic 2007, Berdych 2007 and need one more to make 80%
Who am I missing? Murray 08? Baghy 06?

If Facegoogle used their stupid fake-news-killing algorithms for acually killing fake news threads instead of suppressing inconvenient truths, honest law-abiding posters here would never be deceived by vicious agenda driven pro-Nadal propaganda like this....... i feel violated.

Nadal will easily make it to the second week @ Wimby AND to the surprise of many, win the whole thing as well. If he does, he's a lock for the US Open... Nadal's on the hunt this year, and he's healthy AF. You heard it here first!!!

I think OP meant grass as a whole not just Wimbledon. On grass vs top 10,

Nadal - 73%
Federer - 65%

Correct me if I'm wrong. Not a useful stat anyway.

Sent from my NEM-L22 using Tapatalk

The stat itself is correct. But you are right there's a bit of Simpson's paradox going on...

Roger top 10 wins on grass = 19
Rafa top 10 wins on grass = 8

...some recency bias...

Roger top 10 wins on grass since 2012 = 6
Rafa top 10 wins on grass since 2012 = 0

...and some age bias

Roger top 10 record on grass at age 31 = 13-4
Rafa top 10 record on grass at age 31 = 8-3
