Interesting stat Nadal leads the big 3...

On reaching 2 grand slam finals or more in one season,

Nadal has 10 years he made 2 or more slam finals in a season.

Federer and Djokovic both have 8.

Its crazy how towards the end of his career, Nadal is ripping up the rule book, by actually looking the more consistent player over his career.
If he continues his purple patch for another couple of seasons, its going to have a big say on him being the best tennis player we have seen.

Not even the biggest Nadal fan would've predicted stats like this.

I think it's obvious, given that he always has Roland Garros in the bag, he just needs one more GS final (so, yes, haters, he consistently ends up at non-clay court GS finals every year)

Fedex and Djoker just dont have the same dominance over a single slam like Nadal, so this stat is "biased" toward him

He's still out there doing it. Epic :)

What Nadal has accomplished in his 30's so far is on pace to looking unprecedented...which crazy because 1) I thought he's retire before even getting to 30, and 2) it looked like he was on the verge of retirement in his first year as a 30-something year old (2016). His consistency since the beginning of 2017, espcially at the majors has been top notch

you're not alone

he's surprised all of us

the media wrote so many articles about how he'd retire early, struggle with his style of play, etc, but he's responded to all the doubters like this:

He doesn't have Roland-Garros in the bag. He has to play the same amount of matches as everyone else. When he hasn't been able to rise to the challenge he has lost.

To win that tournament 12 times is an extraordinary achievement. Probably the greatest in tennis apart from Laver's double Grand Slam.

12 times is greater than laver' double grand slam

Nice stat, but why stop there? Lets look at the whole picture:

1 slam final or more in a season: Federer 15, Nadal 13, Djokovic 11
2 slam finals or more in a season: Federer 8, Nadal 10, Djokovic 8
3 slam finals or more in a season: Federer 5, Nadal 4, Djokovic 5
4 slam finals in a season: Federer 3, Nadal 0, Djokovic 1

On the other hand, he is still third in career earnings:

Djokovic $135,259,120
Federer $126,840,700
Nadal $115,178,858

Nadal is the Greatest of All Time..he was before USO but now its undisputed. 12 FOs alone is just unreal. Multiple Majors on All Surfaces...superior h2h v his rivals at the Majors, and leader of Masters 1000 table...plus Olympic Gold...the guy is obviously GOAT.

The thing is he loves shutting people up. Its is motivator. More people write him off the more he shuts them down.

His great rival Djokovic is not far behind but it is noticeable between these two goats whenever there has been a bit of history or extra significance on a match (rome this year, USO 2013 for no.1, FO 2012) Nadal has come out on top. Ultimately thats the difference between the two greatest of all time...Nadal more clutch.

Federer has made the same Wimbledon finals as Nadal FO finals, 12 both. So, why is the stat biased only for Nadal?

Yes, Federer had 5 years with no Djokodal to rack up these stats.

Perhaps it's obvious, but it's by no means less impressive. All records are somewhat based off a combination of other records anyway, like weeks at no.1 is just a product of winning tournaments.

If he shuts up people who doubted him, then why are you still talking?

Imagine a guy winning CYGS in the Open era and not being universally recognised as GOAT.
Why should he? I mean, not talking about Laver’s other achievements here (which are great as well), but you sound as if the CYGS generally decides the GOAT question.

It’s the pinnacle of one season and determines the most dominant season ever, but GOAT is about full careers, so one CYGS has to be backed up by many more other stats and in the end the total career numbers are way superior.

Also imagine that Federer TWICE only didn’t win the CYGS because he played against the greatest single-surface player of all time.

If he had won CYGS they still would not say he was goat.

But im talking consistency over their careers.

Federer, yes, had 3 or 4 slam final seasons. So did Djokovic. Crazy purple patch at times. But they haven't always been there season after season, in the majors.
They all have amazing consistency, yes, but Nadal is looking right now, like he is outdoing them all.
3 slam finals in 2017, and 3 slam finals in 2019 is just unreal from the guy who was meant to be gone by 28.

You can't penalize Rafa for being so good on one surface. It's to his credit.

Barely 19 when he won his first major as well.

Yep, I remember in 2015/16, Nadal was 'finnish' to most on here.

The biggest laugh was that the bio passport coming in meant Nadal couldn't play tennis anymore, and had no gas tank without foreign substances.

:-D
