Interesting statistic about Fedal

What I don’t get is, how can someone be a keen fan of BOTH Nadal and Federer. It’s like someone being a keen fan of both Liverpool and Man Utd, or both Real Madrid and Barcelona. Non capisco!

Nah, football team supporting is a choice for life - one must stick with one's first team through thick and thin, or else be rightly accused of being a glory hunter.

While tennis, as an individual sport, lends itself to the worship of many players. Federer and Nadal are both admirable and their rivalry raised the game to new heights, IMHO.

As Nole Slam said, it’s not about hating one because you like the other. I’m assuming you’re a KEEN Nadal fan, just as I am for Federer. No matter who our player goes against we will always get behind them. To have that same dedication/keen following for the player who is obviously your player’s greatest rival...that for me is incomprehensible. Sure you can appreciate and respect your player’s rivals, but to be devoted ... well, that’s different.

In mid-2006 I was telling everybody that Nadal would retire with more slams than Federer.
At that point in time Federer had won 10, while Nadal had won 2.
I was posting on ESPN messageboard back then, and CNNSI had one too.

I respect what Rafa has done in his career and I like him, so I root for him unless he plays Roger. I don't especially mind that he might pass Fed's 20 slam record. If he does it, he deserves it and well done to him. However, I don't think there's any Fedal fan who watches a match they play against each other and can't figure out who to root for.

I'm a fan of Federer because of the beauty of his game and the variety of shots.
I'm a fan of Nadal because of the fighting spirit and many many epic matches. Also some very crazy retrievals, banana shots etc
I'm a fan of their matches because there's something that just clicks and I find them very entertaining.

When they play each other, I used to root for Nadal, because Federer kinda won everything. Then I rooted for Federer because he had a mental block against Nadal. Now I just enjoy, since any outcome will please me :)
