Intermediate player - racquet suggestion

Hello all,

I'm new here on forum and I'm seeking advice for a new racquet. First off I'm 20yr 6'0 186lbs and in good shape :). I started to play tennis back in high school had some training, went to 1 tournament, but in the last 3-4 years I haven't played tennis consistently more like 1-2 in two months but now decided to join a local league and play more.

I played with some beginner racquet, pretty light 295g strung head heavy and played pretty bad, but i felt like when i played with better racquets that i borrowed from club from time to time my game improved a lot.

So around 3.0 - 3.5 baseline player, looking for some heavier,more stable when hitting big shots, with spin racquet to improve my game . Would say i play pretty attacking.

Any tips or suggestions would be great :)

P.S. got offered a Prince O3 Tour so if anyone has experience with that racquet, would it be good ?

Thanks again :)

Yes, it would be good, but not better than any one of 75 other rackets that you could choose.
Look at TW's sale rackets. HeadMicroGelMid, for 89 bucks strung, free delivery, is right at the top of the list.
Look at the weight, SW, and flex specs. Middle of the road, so will work no matter what your preferences.

I would highly recommend demoing some frames from TW. If you're not familiar with their offer, you can get 4 frames for a week for about $18. I would recommend one, possibly even two, demo sets to try to determine what sort of specs you prefer.

As LeeD said, there are 75 racquets you could choose and all are good. The key is finding what suits you best and what you are most comfortable with. Do a little research, make a list and try some of them out to see what you like the best.

Or at the least, find out what the specs are on the racquets you like best from the club and try to find something similar.

In my experience, coming from a beginner racquet, it took me a little time to hone in on the spec range I preferred. Do you like something more HL or closer to even balance? Open or dense string pattern? Heavy static weight? High SW? etc? Demoing is a great way to figure out what you like.

Demoing racquets from TW would be great but I'm from EU, particularly Croatia so that's the problem. I demoed radical mp, don't know if youtek or other version and it suited be pretty good so i'm maybe trying to seek out racquets in hes range

Where are you buying your racket from? His stock determines what you buy, and what price.
Look for around an 11 oz racket, around 320 SW, and around 62 in flex.
If you can buy here on TW, the used racket section, DunlopBio200+, grip size 1/2, C+ condition, 39 bucks and whatever string you like at around 48 lbs tension.
C+ is a racket looking in very good condition, less than a month's worth of play.

Too bad. The demo program is an invaluable tool in racquet hunting.

As is, it is tough to recommend a frame with not much to go on. If you have the option of trying a few different frames at your club, perhaps you can try as many as possible, noting the specs on them to see what you tend to feel most comfortable and play best with. If you can zero in on that, then you could at least come up with a short list of current racquets in that spec range and try to make a best guess decision from there. That would be my suggestion, if possible.

If someone is offering you the Prince O3 Tour for cheap or free, I wouldn't turn it down. It's a fine racquet.

All good solid rackets that will not hinder the development of your game, so all good choices.

Sized it down to a couple of racquets

Head Microgel Radical MP ---> http://goo.gl/r0DQZX

Head Microgel Extreme / Pro ---> http://goo.gl/jzybHt

Prince O3 Tour ---> http://goo.gl/KKJ7NB

Can get them pretty cheap so i'm going with one of these.

Hard to go wrong with any of these I'd say. That Extreme will be significantly more stiff than the Radical and the O3 Tour, so it may have a little more life or "pop" at contact. That can be good if you want some easier power, but it can be not so good if it's too powerful for you to control a lot of the time. If the heft and stability of the Radical wasn't quite enough for you, I'd expect a little more from the Prince.

If you can have a hit with the rest of them, that should be a huge help, but I don't think you'll run into any serious problems if you need to just pick one or another. Since you tried that Radical and it worked okay, it sounds like a safe bet.

Ok guys thanks for all the help, i went with microgel extreme pro which came strung with babolat pro hurricane

played with it a little bit and it felt a bit too powerful,great on the serve but lacked a bit of control when trying to place shots. Spin was great

any string suggestions ?
