Introducing Grapplesnake USA!!!

No one showed up to my group lesson yesterday so I got a 1 on 1 class with my instructor doing lots of net practice. Really enjoying the strings now. I actually feel like they have more life than they did last week so maybe I just need to get used to the strings some more. That said, I will still likely restring next week.
See if you can give Irukandji a try as a Cross. Works best in that configuration.

Yea, I am not sure if I want to move to natural gut yet w/ Irukandji as a cross when I still have so much OGSM. Unless you are suggesting I do OGSM in the mains with Irukandji in the cross?
It will certainly feel good, but durability of the Gosen won't be great as a Main. A multi like Sensation should do the job. While you still have Gosen, I would try either Alpha or Tour Sniper in the Mains.

Hope it helps.

Right, that's what I was suspecting. I think I will try the Tour Sniper next so I can go back and forth between the two strings and compare easier.

No I only bought tour sniper and irukandji. I don't think I play at a high enough level to use a full bed of poly. Also I don't want to restring that often since I don't have a machine anymore.

I think you should try it. You could keep it long time because the playability duration is very long. Especially if your level is not high.
You would have much better feeling than any hybrid with OGSM..... And it could help you to improve a lot your tennis!!!
And Alpha is EXTREMELY comfortable. No stress for your arm at all.
You really should try it.

I had a hit with Alpha today on my Prince TT100 (310). Oh boy... this string is really good. I only spent one hour hitting with it. If the durability/tension maintenance is +10 hours then I think it will be my string of choice. One of the key things for me is comfort. So far it's extremely comfortable indeed combined with the TT100. I have to put my time into it before I get all too excited but I immensely enjoyed it so far. I have a set of Tour Sniper. I will give that one a try as well but comfort is key. I want no arm problems.

I'm pretty sure Tour Sniper will fit the TT100 perfectly!! More control, more spin and pretty similar comfort.
Let us know!

I just have a buttload of OGSM left over still. I am trying to finish off my reel before I go on to other things. I also have two sets of natural gut that i plan on hybriding with. I'm still nursing back a sprained wrist so I am hesitant to try stiffer strings.

I understand but sometimes you have to accept that you must NOT finish a reel (and lose money yes) when you can have way better setup for way BETTER tennis... Think about it! ;)

Been trying Alpha in a full bed on an RF97A @53lbs. I was very surprised from the first hit how comfortable it was and how well the ball pockets. Really good control and spin potential. Allows you to swing out confidently. Soft but not too powerful. I'm about 6 hours in and it still feels really great.

Second picture is blurry. You have to do it again.

Hahah... see this thing plays insane BUT.. tt100 with open pattern does not help with tension maintenance so I am hoping tension maintenance of alpha is really good.. I will also try sniper... if it's close in comfort then I probably will have 2 sticks strung with each..

@Grapplesnake USA Official - what is the consensus with tension maintenance with these strings please? I can tell you that alpha didnt really loose tension all that much sitting on my racquet for 2 weeks after I strung it but lets see how it does now that I am starting to hit with it... tt100 can get a bit wild if tension is not maintained hence I am curious... thank you

They are both pretty consistent, but if I had to give one the edge, I would say that Tour Sniper is more consistent in its tension throughout its life.

Since it's close, for me it would come down to feel.

Hi there,
I just ordered three sets of tour sniper to try (i'm in Europe).
Do you have any tension recommendation for a 98 sqin 16x20 frame?
I am in the process of trying lots of different strings and my current favorite is Tier one durafluxx at 22/21kg.
I like control oriented low power strings that are arm friendly.
Thanks.

Hey. I would start at about 24 kilos with that size and pattern. Little more or less depending on altitude.

i just tried tour sniper. Good string, but was not too crazy about it. I prefer alpha or the neon hybrid.

Try Tour sniper at 22/21kgs like you string now. Tour Sniper is not that arm friendly, at 24kgs will feel super tight compared to what you use now.

I have been trying lots of strings and still, Kirschbaum Pro Line rough when is brand new is incredible. Soft, crisp with a great bite.

The Grapplesnake Neon hybrid is also good, but you have to adjust the tension, drop around 1kg, it has crazy bite.

Good luck.

Strung up Neon Hybrid today. It was a pain to string. The Cube extra sharp is very sharp and it took my longer to weave than normal. I'm psyched to hit it tomorrow though!

I strung up my Clash 98 with a full bed of Tour Sniper at 47 lbs. I was able to get good spin on all shots. My hitting partner said my hard spin groundies felt heavy. I was able to flatten out shots easily as well. All strokes felt good. I was able to hit out and maintain good control with these strings. As the Clash 98 is very arm friendly, Tour Sniper feels comfortable, yet crisp and consistent. I will see how Alpha feels in this frame as well but I like Tour Sniper so far.

I think I like Sniper more but have not tried Alpha in this frame (tried it in a 100" frame and not the current 98" one I am using). As I have a reel of Alpha, I should see how it plays in this frame.

I have logged a few sessions on Neon Dust Hybrid and I am very happy. Spin is great, but the best thing is the feel. Nice and soft with long dwell time. It is more powerful than I'm used to, but still very controllable.

I also like the Neon Dust hybrid, but am still evaluating it. So far I like Tour Sniper a little bit more as I find it more predictable and the tension lasts longer.

Going to try a natural gut x irukanji setup. Anyone have experience with this or tension recommendations?

Also I finished my Neon CES hybrid. Great at the outset but as soon as you start noticing any issues with volleying, chuck them quick because my volleys soon became absolutely uncontrollable. After restringing I was back to spin bliss!

I just ordered a reel of Tour Sniper. I think it is my favorite GrappleSnake string. Nice, crisp directional control with a consistent feel stroke for stroke. It is a good all-around poly. I am able to hit with controlled power, nice biting slices, low flat drives or curve the ball with added spin when I want too. It feels comfortable for a crisp, kind of grabby string. Hard spin serves have nice bite as well. Alpha is just not for me, by comparison, although it might be better for those who like to brush up the back of the ball more than hitting through the ball.

Just wanted to drop a feedback since I have been hitting with Alpha for a while now.
Tension maintenance must be really good b/c it only dropped about 3-4lbs in 8 hours of play and maybe total of 5-6lbs in approaching 15 hours.... in 16x18 pattern... It actually plays even better at 46-47lbs where it seems to have settled for now. Strings did not even move out of place one bit. Very nice crispness (not to be confused with stiffness). Feel the ball pocketing very well. Very very good feel I get with this string. Really connected to my shots. Very good bite on the ball.. If you are a heavy topspin hitter I am sure you can get even more out of this string, which I am not. Others eluded to it... Controlled power... yes I do confirm. No wild shots coming off the string bed, which says something in the very open pattern racquet that I am hitting with. Very very good balance of the control and power. Comfort is fantastic. Playing full bed at Prince Tour 310 (2019 version). This will be my to go string now for sure. I have my 2nd racquet strung with Tour Sniper, just to see how that one plays since it has high praises as well. Love this string. Highly recommend it.

Has anyone here tried an Excellent Purple/Irukandji hybrid? Looking to maximize ball pocketing and control from my PT57As and was intrigued by Grapplesnake and all the positive feedback from this thread. Currently using the Neon Dust hybrid @48/51 lbs which feels pretty good, however the square main string is pretty thick for an 18x20 and I feel there’s a lack of snap back from the string bed. I also have a pack of tour sniper and cube which I need to try soon.

3 of my personal frames are PT57Es, and I have them set up this way at the moment:

- Excellent Purple full bed 42lbs. This string handles low tension like no other.

- Tour Sniper with Irukandji the cross at 46/48 lbs.

- Alpha, full bed, 46 lbs.

All set ups make me happy. As I am sure you know, these frames and yours handle most strings beautifully. I wouldn't hesitate trying any of our 1.25 mm strings, including Excellent Purple, and drop the tension if you want more snap back.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I currently don’t have a pack of Alpha, but I’m going to try the other two set ups in the coming days and report back!

Played with the Tour Sniper hybrid today w/ OGSM at 50# Tour Sniper and 54# OGSM. Not too sure how I feel about it, I didn't get to play much as I sprained my ankle 30 minutes into the session by jumping onto my ankle.

It definitely has a lot more power, but I wasn't really a fan of the feel. Hopefully I'll get to play again before I leave town.

I suggest playing with a full bed of Tour Sniper. I think the OGSM string is the weak link in your setup. I liked Your Sniper in a full bed much much more than TS in the mains and X-One Biphase in the crosses.

Hmm, I will keep that in mind. I unfortunately only have half a set left, and I am saving it for a hybrid with natural gut. I think I just need to play more. I've never played with tensions this low either. I will say that stringbed does seem to have a lower launch angle, and I am really liking that!

Hello!

Mina Hodzic, a talented 16 year old player from Germany, with a WTA highest ranking of 630, is now a sponsored Grapplesnake player! She qualified for this year's main draw at the Porsche Cup in Stuttgart, and defeated players ranked MUCH higher on her way there.

Congratulations, Mina! She plays with Cube.
