Is the neon dust hybrid just the same as the cube extra sharp/liquid hybrid but in a different color? Just wondering why the $1 price difference

They are close, but not the same. Cube Extra Sharp is slightly firmer than CES Neon Dust, and Liquid is slightly softer than Liquid Neon Dust, making that differential in firmness largest in our classic Cube Extra Sharp/Liquid hybrid.

Also, CES Neon Dust has more durable edges for prolonged high spin potential. The fact that Liquid Neon Dust is slightly firmer now makes it a good candidate for a standalone setup for players looking for a soft (but not too soft) hexagonal string. Liquid Neon Dust will be available in full sets and reels soon.

As a reference, these are our strings, from firm to soft:

Cube Extra Sharp (firmest) - CES Neon Dust - Cube - Excellent Purple - Liquid Neon Dust - Irukandji - Liquid (softest)

Hope it helps!

CES Neon Dust / Liquid Neon Dust hybrid

*Stringing Impressions
Took my time stringing the mains to get the strings to lay flat and not w a twist. Weaving wasn't too bad for a very sharp string. The diablo on the tension head got a deep groove from the sharp string. Knot tying required a bit more "shimmying" as the edges seemed to dig into the string and could potentially leave the knots sitting far from the grommet. I went with 48# CP with powerpads. I did not change the tension differential as noted on the string package as I currently string my poly rough/poly smooth hybrids the same tension. Liquid Neon Dust is not a round string but has edges.

*ground strokes
launch angle was moderate and not too high. Nice ball action and depth. I only got to hit with it for an hour but noticed it started to settle. Decent amount of power.

*Volleys
At first it seemed a bit lively and balls would sit up when hitting a shot where the ball was at my waist or lower. I tried to adjust but didn't get to encounter those type of shots throughout the game. Was able to hit a couple of troublesome drop shots some with spin and some that just dropped in. The feedback of the ball was a bit muted

*serves
1st serves had decent pace to it as well as the fast kicker bouncing a decent height. I did not have a consistent slow/high arching kick serve type of day and maybe it's just me needing more practice

*personal highlights
What stood out to me was how I was able to get very good spin on a low launch angle string as well as hit flat and having control. I liked being able to change direction fairly easy, go from looping/driving topsin/flat shot...and maybe I was just having a good day.

*misc
I started out the day hitting with my TC95 with OEHMS BPR (has about 1.5 hours of live ball drills). That seemed to have more spin but was also lower in power. When I moved to the Prestige Pro, I noticed the liveliness of the string bed. Granted two totally different racquets as well as having some break in time on the TC95, the CES/Liquid had more of a muted feel and a smaller sweet spot. I hope to put some more time into this (after a quick vacay) and continue testing the two strings. I'll also through in a 3rd string into another Prestige Pro (Laserfibre REV). I liked the color of the string as well. The sound of the string bed had a solid thump to it but not as loud as some other string beds when swinging out.

Will this be for sale on the TW website at some point?
Yes, it will. It's basically an internal transfer from their TW Europe contract with our headquarters in Germany, to here. Grapplesnake USA isn't involved in that process, so I don't have an estimated time for you.

Strings are available in the US through our website now.

I strung up my sample of CES Neon Dust/Liquid Neon Dust in my Wilson Clash tour.
Here is my feedback/impressions:
Stringing: I found the string to string up pretty easy on my Babolat Star 5. I settled on 46/49 for my tension.

Ground strokes: I was surprised at the power level, much better than I expected, that it got from this string and that's a huge plus for me. Ball pocketing started out as average but quickly improved over time on court. I found easy access to spin as well. I felt the launch angle was moderate, nothing crazy where I had to alter my swing path.

Volleys: This string had great response and touch at the net.

Serves: I felt I could get good pop on my flat and I felt like my spin picked up a bit on my slice and kickers.

Overall: This is my first poly/poly hybrid setup and I have to say that I was impressed. It checked all the boxes for me, power, feel and most importantly comfort.

That hybrid is pure bliss!!! Happy to see other players liking it a lot!!! :giggle:(y)

I went ahead and strung up one of our demos (Pro Staff 97L) with the Irukandji. Even though I had read about it, and saw the picture of the shape, I was not prepared for how flat it felt. Stringing was super easy because of the shape and the smoothness of the string. Looking forward to the Jr Academy in a couple hours so I can try it out!

Irukandji is better as a cross..... And it was created for that.

Good morning!

We have gotten lots of questions regarding the upcoming launch of our prototype. As far as a launch date, we are looking at around 3 to 4 weeks from now.

I finished play-testing it on 3 different frames, a customized Head Radical Touch, the H22, and a Head iPrestige midplus. It is so good.

As far as playing characteristics and feel, I would say it's comparable to Luxilon Alu Power, Solinco Tour Bite, and Kirschbaum Max Power. It has that type of feel. In addition to that, it comes partially pre-stretched to minimize that initial tension loss, which to me was exceptionally small. It is, also, relatively soft and notching is almost non-existing. I would use the word "silky".

The string does not launch very hard and is definitely control-oriented to the max. It plays very consistently from start to finish, and its pentagonal shape isn't too sharp. My personal opinion is that it basically takes the best qualities of some other strings with similar playing characteristics. This will be Grapplesnake's Tour level string, and we will look to sponsor future Pros with it.

That's what I've got....for now. Just don't ask me its name!

Just want to confirm again HOW GOOD is the Neon Dust hybrid!!!!!!
I break it in 8/9hours but I know I could play more with the same great playability and feeling!!!
The quality of that hybrid is INSANE!!!!!!!!

If that was the case they should have sent a half set then and made a note of that. I'm planning on posting a full review after I get more time with it, but I wasn't blown away by my first impression.

As for the CES Neon Dust/Liquid Neon Dust hybrid, I am more excited about that. It was much more of a pain to string, but after hitting the first few balls with it in my Blade 98 (16x19) I'm liking it!

"and it is also highly recommended as a cross-string with Cube Extra Sharp, CES Neon Dust, or any Multi or Natural Gut in the Mains."

Neon Dust hybrid is a lethal spin weapon as snake poison!!! Can't wait to play soon outdoor on clay!!! :happydevil:

I agree with your statement. I have personally used Irukandji both in full bed and as a cross with another poly such as Excellent Purple, natural gut (VS), or a multi such as NXT or Sensation.

I would say that it plays well and it's comfortable in full bed, but where it really shines is working as a cross string. I can't think of another string that I've tried that serves that purpose better in terms of feel and adding longevity to the mains.

If you have the opportunity, give it a try as a cross. And thank you for testing our strings!

CES Neon Dust / Liquid Neon Dust hybrid Review:

Usual setup: Black Code 4S @ 50 lb in a RF97a
Test setup: CES Neon Dust / Liquid Neon Dust @ 47/50lb in a RF 97a

Initial thoughts: The mains are really sharp

Ground strokes: The strings really bit into the ball and gave me a lot of extra spin compared to usual. It was less powered than the 4S which resulted in me having some extra control.

Volleys: Good feel, made my drop volleys really effective.

Serves: Flat serves were a tad bit slower, but the spin more than made up for it.

Misc thoughts: This hybrid is definitely a bit stiffer than my usual 4S. The spin is amazing though, reminded me of the feeling I had when i first switched from X-1 Biphase to Solinco Tourbite where I felt that I couldn't hit a single ball out.

Great hybrid!

I have to say the shape of the string alone is intriguing enough to order a set and try it in a hybrid. Pardon my laziness for not just going to the website to research it, but what are the general characteristics of Excellent Purple? That wasn't one of the demo sets that got sent to me. The only one I have left to try is the Cube 1.18. I've used square strings before so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. I am looking forward to getting a chance to really get out and hit for real with the CES/Liquid Hybrid.

Excellent Purple is a low powered round poly, definitely control oriented. That's its main strength, along with excellent durability and tension maintenance. It gives you a relatively low launch angle and just great control. Just like most of our strings, notching is also very minimal. As far as downsides, I would say we have other models with better spin potential and feel.

Excellent Purple isn't lively, which is why many of us like to use it as a Main with multifilament in the Crosses, with Irukandji in the Crosses, or in full bed at low tensions. It is a great option for people looking for a durable and predictable poly at an affordable price ($10.50/set, $109.95/reel).

It feels more crisp than the neon hybrid, but softer than its competitors. So, it has less of that muted feel in the hybrid, but it's still very comfortable. As far as control, I believe they are both neck and neck but "prototype" takes the edge in my opinion, and spin is probably a little more than the hybrid. Notching is less. There's practically no notching at my 53 lbs.

Tension maintenance is excellent compared to other strings like it, but again, neck and neck with the neon hybrid. Durability is a little less than the hybrid (CES Neon Dust is just super durable). All in all, it's just excellent and one of my all time favorites.

It will be coming from Germany as soon as production allows, within the next 2 to 3 weeks. I am sure it will be a success. I think it just takes that formula to the next level.

is this better than solinco tourbite ?
I believe "Prototype" has superior control and feel. Tour bite has sharper edges and probably has a little more spin potential. Give it a try once it arrives. We will have limited quantities for Demo, and will announce it here for players to sign up.

I just strung up the Neon Dust hybrid in one of my Clash Tours at 44/46 lbs. Just bouncing the ball around a bit, it seems that it will have more feel, spin and comfort than the Cube hybrid. I'll find out this weekend (provided there is no more rain here).

That's interesting that you said that Prototype has better spin potential than the CES hybrid but less than the Tour bite because in my experience I've found in terms of spin that CES Hybrid > Black Code 4S > Tour bite.
