@Grapplesnake USA Official

Does anyone already have any experience with Excelent Purple Plus +?
It looks to be a pretty new string, so can't find much information on it. To me it seems something similar to Toroline Wasabi or something like that. Spin friendly yet not stiff, good tension maintenance?

Just a ordered 5 packs for a really nice price (25EUR) on their website.

I string all of my rackets with a round cross, mostly head hawk touch. Here I'll test one setup full bed as well.
Isn’t that the old grapplesnake string?

Grateful for your input @jimdontcare . Do you find that the Alpha's level of comfort is similar to the VCT ? Due to my sensitive arms, I am only able to use a few select polys within the soft poly range (I do find Yonex Poly Tour Pro stiff and jarring after a while), VCT being one of them.
If anything, I find Alpha even more comfortable. That said, everyone’s bodies are different and I don’t have a very sensitive arm. But I was playing multi/soft poly hybrids for a bit before picking up Alpha, and I thought there was no downgrade in comfort going to full bed alpha.

Hey everyone. @Grapplesnake USA Official helped make a few string set up recommendations recently. He was extremely helpful. Honestly, it's customer service you wouldn't find anywhere else, so thank you GS-USA-Official! My first two variations have been Alpha & M8. Here is my take and I am curious if others have comments or feedback.

M8 is amazing. Great spin, fantastic control, adequate power - does almost everything well. Super playable, great feel, everything just feels so natural with it. I've been searching for the holy grail of hybrids and honestly, am super tempted to just go to full bed of M8. It does most things in a perfect harmony where I just know if I do my job, the string will do its job. That said, I do feel some arm discomfort immediately after playing. It is only mild discomfort, but honestly, I don't want to feel any - especially since I have been playing poly-poly hybrids (of soft polys) and not had any discomfort. I strung at 51lbs in my Solinco Whiteout 16x19 and used the 1.25mm.

Alpha is interesting. It noticeably more comfortable and also more powerful. When I really swing out and rip it, the pace and pop alone can create some unforced errors - even when the ball is right to the middle of the court. This is a little tantalizing. That said, the longer I played with it, the more I felt the launch angle dropping. I simply don't get the net clearance I get from the M8 and have to modify my stroke to get net clearance. But when I do so, I am also finding myself backing off it a little to not fly it. Especially after the M8 experience (amazing other than discomfort), I just know I need to find something that feels effortless like M8. I strung at 53 bs in my Solinco Whiteout 16x19 and used the 1.25mm.

Open to thoughts, ideas, suggestions. I might experiment with some M8 mains and Paradox Pro crosses or M8 mains and Alpha crosses. Maybe I'll also try another full bed of M8 and drop a few pounds to see what happens. Just wishing the M8 was discomfort free!

I use M8 from time to time in a 98 Blade and I find it to be very comfortable and an excellent string.

I string at 47 or 48 pounds and I believe they developed it to be strung lower at lower tensions. You did 51, so I would try dropping the tension a few pounds and give it another go. If that still is an issue, maybe cross it with a softer poly. I have crossed it with TruPro Ghostwire as well with great succes @ 48/46.

Alpha while soft was way too much power for me and as I have had no issues with M8 or even Tour Sniper it is a string that I dont have a need for. Quality offering though.

After using M8 as a cross to Lynx Tour in Blade 98s and 100s with great results, I decided to see how it feels in a full bed for the first time. Great hit this morning in the V9 Blade 100! I strung 1.25 ga at 52lbs, which I think was just about perfect. @jakefromstatefarm says it best above. Its a solid-well rounded string, everything just felt natural and smooth. I measured tension before and after a 2.5 hour hit with an ERT 300 and it held up very well 34--->30, which is similar to what I'd expect from Lynx Tour which I consider above average for tension maintenance. Hard to go wrong with M8 -- it's all there.

Thanks for your input @Grapplesnake USA Official - such excellent customer service.

If I may chip in my 2 cents and based on a number of player experience (including myself), the Blade v8 100 version (RA rating 62) is actually a very comfortable racquet. The tricky bit for players with sensitive arms such as myself is to find the right (soft) string combination/tension for the racquet that would provide some crispiness and pop to an otherwise muted racquet.

In terms of soft poly, I find that VCT and YPTP work well in the racquet but the tension maintenance of each string is quite unsatisfactory (YPTP especially which just falls off a cliff after the 8th hour). I am looking forward to trying the Alpha soon! On this note, since I am based in the UK, I will be ordering from Grapplesnake Germany - is there any discount code available? Thanks!
Oh, ok. I was thinking the 98 16x19. Have not used the 100. But you're on the right track. And check their website for promotions. We are not really in sync with them in terms of deals. Thank you!

I’ve really enjoyed 3 different grapplesnake setups so far: Alpha and Paradox in a Percept 97D and Tour Sniper in an Ezone 98.

All at 52/50 tension.

Later today I’m stringing the Percepts with M8, should I try 52/50 then as well or try perhaps 47/45?
I wouldn't drop that much. Maybe 1-2 lb. The idea is to assess the string close to your known tension range without changing other variables too much. Otherwise you will be assessing two different important things simultaneously. Adjust from there.

Outstanding! Happy to read this. So many players discovering M8.

Thank you for saying this. I really do try to engage with every person that has questions, and always think of how beneficial it can be for you guys to have a direct line of communication with the creators, which is an option I wish I would've had in the past with the strings I used to compete with, and before we got into making our own.

I found M8 more comfortable than Tour Sniper. No need to lower tension on it.

Is m8 a particularly light string? (Or does it stretch a lot when stringing?)

My racket is several grams lighter compared to alpha which was my previous string.

Any recommendation for the ultra pro v4 16x19? Thinking about ordering m8 for it but was wondering if there was another string I should add to the list to try on the frame.

Hey! If the v4 retains the H19 playing characteristics, I can tell you that I have used M8 for years in that frame (the v1 and v2) from time to time at around 49 lb at 5000 ft of elevation. It's an incredible racquet.

I've been using Grapplesnake Tour M8 full bed in my PS V14 97 at 50lb for a while now, and I really like it. It uniquely achieves control, spin, and power while remaining comfortable for a poly. I also like the feel of this setup. I can comfortably generate enough spin with this poly for heavy balls, but handling fast and deep groundstrokes (3-4 feet before the baseline) from my opponent is challenging. The ball shoots out of the racquet too quickly, making it hard to generate spin without shanking it or sending it long.
Lowering the tension isn't an option since I don't need more power. While I'd like more spin, I'm looking for a shaped main that allows me to bite fast balls just enough to control quick, deep shots. I really like the comfort-to-power level that M8 offers, so I'm considering a hybrid setup with a shaped poly for more bite while maintaining a similar comfort-to-power ratio as m8, using M8 as a cross. Not looking to bite the ball drastically like confidential does though I do like those strings. Any recommendations would be helpful, thanks

Does anyone cross Tour Sniper with anything and get most of the feel and playability of a full bed of Tour Sniper? I'm breaking TS 1.25 in 2-3 hours in a 16x19 98 and it starts notching pretty significantly in 30 minutes. I hated Ghostwire so please don't recommend that lol

I’ve been using Lynx tour main or tour bite crossed with M8 in v8 Blade 98 noir and v9 Blade 100. I like the 1.2 size in the main, more spin, power, and comfort. crossing with 1.25 size adds control and better tension Mx. I like 1.25 Hawk touch as a cross as well but M8 seems like it has a bit more pop, HT a bit more feel.

I like 52/50 with the 1.2/1.25 combo.

I play indoors guessing that will work too

Not too much power from the 1.2 main ?

Quite slippery string it is. Do not recommend using it in high launch angle, open pattern stick. It is uncontrollable for me.

I know I'm a broken record on this string, but try Alpha. Best soft, comfortable, crisp, controlled string I've tried. It's higher power than M8, but if you're good stringing 3-4 pounds higher, it's pretty similar. M8 has some of Alpha's DNA so it should be an easy transition.

I haven't hybrided these two but I know some people have

Id string it like you would the 100 so you get the comparison. then adjust from there. With the expectation that you'll drop it a few lbs next time.

With full poly in most thinner frames I start at 50 and move from there

What tensions for Tour sniper 1.25mm would you guys advise for blade 100 v8 and also pro stock blade 18*19 ?
Tour Sniper is a very good string, it was excellent on the H22 pro stock and Prince Tour 100P 2015. But on the Blade 18x19 pro stock it felt extremely muted and without feel. Try another string on this racket, Cyber Flash if you want more power or Max Power if you want something with greater control. Poly Tour Strike was interesting too...

Currently using, Restring sync in the mains/TF Triax in crosses as a hybrid in my CX200. Very very happy with that setup but sometimes just want a touch more bite on the ball. I know it's hard to quantify and say a string has X% more bite but I'd say I just want something that's maybe a 10-15% difference at most. Considered going M8 as it's less of an extreme shape but also some concerns about any shaped string wearing out the multi crosses extra fast. Thoughts on this? And anyone that can comment on how Sync and M8 compare?

Is there a particular reason this is only sold in Europe now? Just not popular in the US?

I can't decide which part makes it more attractive--the fact that it's purple or the fact that it contains Dämpfungseigenschaften

I love German. I don't understand it but I love it

Basically because it's discontinued. The guys running the European website used the remaining raw material and gave it shape, releasing this shaped version until they run out. If it does really well, they might make more. Unsure.

Just catching up on these strings based on feedback from a friend. I want to order a few sets of different GrappleSnake strings, and check them out before ordering reels for a school team I support. What is the best place to order them from? (the sample sets and later the reels).

Depends on where you are. Can't post links here, but do a quick Google search to find our USA website.
