Introducing Grapplesnake USA!!!

Great news! How is tour Mako as a cross string to a sharper shaped poly in terms of maintaining SnapBack?
I think Tour Mako and Paradox Pro make outstanding crosses when paired with poly mains. Their surface aids in grip, and they are both soft, with Mako being the softest.

If using gut or multi mains, I would recommend Irukandji to compliment the overall feel even better.

Thanks and which is slicker and allows for more snapback?

They are both abrasive by design, but their round shape allows for good sliding. One of the metals in Paradox helps with even more snapback. Biggest difference is Mako being considerably softer, even with Paradox being on the softer side of a metal-infused string.

What do people enjoy crossing tour m8 with? I am loving how it feels but I just can’t quite get the control of Lynx tour/hawk touch hybrid! Has anyone tried crossing m8 with Hawk Touch?
People normally play it full bed. I think you should try Lynx tour instead of hawk touch, since it is a "stiffer"/"deader" poly and should help you more with control. If it does not work, you should try going up in tension or changing the cross to a stiffer string.

Hey! Hopefully by February. I have silver Tour Mako to be released this week. This version contains some aluminum for added durability, firmness, and tension maintenance, which some players have asked for. This sacrifices a bit of its softer feel, but not much. We will offer both versions, just like we did with Game Changer for years.

I want to suit most if not all needs when it comes to Tour Mako. Not everyone wants the string to be super soft, and for some, that's precisely what they want. Offering a version with aluminum makes Tour Mako now ideal for different preferences and even more frames. It is still softer than, for example, Tour Sniper, a string more heavily based on aluminum. Super excited about this.
So the silver Tour Mako will be a little firmer and crisper than the green one with better tension mainenance?
That would be excellent!!!

@Grapplesnake USA Official

Would you say tensions maintenance is *largely* similar between Mako Teal, Mako Silver, and Paradox Pro. And would you generally say those sit above Alpha in tension maintenance?
You know, I would put all four models in the same category of "soft", with Tour Mako Teal being the softest of them all. From there, the silver version, and from there Alpha and Paradox pretty close together. I would put Alpha high in tension maintenance out of the bunch, but lower durability and stability than Mako or Paradox.

Main differences would be feel and the way they are constructed. They reach the same classification in super different ways. Alpha is more traditional soft yet still crisp. Paradox achieves stability and a soft feel via new metals, and Mako achieves softness and stability in a different way, via novel poly-based additives and particles. This part is important, and our strings shouldn't really be classified in a linear way based on one factor. That might help, but it's only one piece of the puzzle in a multi-faceted, way more comprehensive vision behind each model.

So if I dont break Alpha in a certain amount of time I should not expect to break Mako or PPro in that same time?

H! ... thats strange, I asked Thomas I think at this Monday (after ordering 2 reels of mako teal (y)) when mako silver and aspera could be available ... there he had no informations.
but good, if it will be available now. perhaps he still know more about aspera ;)

In Grapplesnake lineup, which string is most similar to Tourna BH Silver 7 Tour? I'm trying to find a crisp string to translate feel through foam in my Tfight ISO 305.

Alpha has been excellent, but I ran out of it and thinking about my next move.

Maybe tour sniper is your choice, not sure though.

I haven't played that string in a long, long time, but I would suggest M8 to start, for what I remember the Tourna to feel like, it wouldn't be completely different. Performance-wise, very different and hopefully you will notice it. Thank you!

Thank you! I have tried M8 and loved it, but I'm looking for crisper, "metallic" or "silver" string - maybe Paradox?

You could try tour mako in the new silver and also tour sniper. From what I remember of silver 7 tour, I would reckon that its a at least a comparison between that and tour sniper. Haven’t tried the silver mako yet but its on its way

I have a half set of Irukandji sitting around and wondering what to pair them with. Will mostly be for fun, currently testing out poly/syn gut combos since that works best for my game/arm/wallet/average (at best) stringing ability. Have the following on hand:

YPTP 18g
Solinco Rev 18g
Kirschbaum PLE 17g
M8
Alpha
Cyclone Tour 18g
Babolat syn gut 17g
OGSM 17g

Currently rotating EZONE 98s with M8-babolat syn 44.5/49 and Alpha-babolat syn 46/49. Expect to break the crosses in 8-12hrs.

Since Iru has good tension maintenance, thinking about doing a low tension poly/poly with the PLE since it probably has the best playable life.

Have enjoyed gut/poly in the past, so curious about using a syn in the mains as well.

Or should I just scrap all this nonsense and take it to a stringer for some real gut and live the high life for a month or two?

Not going to last long, but maybe you could throw the micro sheep 17 in the mains and ride the lightning for 20 minutes. Will be worth it and what the hell, re-do mains only with the same. Lol probably worst advice I've ever given here.

Looks like it's available on the UK site, when will it be available in the US?

It should be arriving in the next couple of days. I will launch it on Saturday or Sunday after taking photos and whatnot! Super excited.

My friends, after so many, many, many hours of research, development, testing and just work, I am happy to announce that Aspera Triplum is now available. For those of you know know us and the drive behind Grapplesnake well, you know that we want to spearhead change and progress in this industry. We innovate, no matter what. This is our finest example of that vision.

From our website:

"Aspera Triplum is the most comprehensive application of the all technologies and poly-based additives that Grapplesnake has created and innovated with since our introduction into the market.

Aspera Triplum is our powerhouse string, a near-perfect balance of performance attributes we consider most important for a string to be great. First, the spin potential it provides is unmatched. This is achieved with a triple approach - shape, surface, and roughness. Aspera Triplum is square with sharp edges, while also abrasive in its surface, and with diamond-shaped indentations for roughness. Spin is impressive and consistent, but this is only the beginning.

Second, comfort and feel. This is very difficult to achieve in a square string, which normally tends to be relatively firm and muted. Aspera Triplum is soft, comfortable and communicative. We consider this breakthrough to be one of our highest achievements to date. We can now offer a string that blends its sharp profile with a very high level of comfort and connection with the ball. As a comparison, Aspera Triplum is softer than Alpha, our very popular model which is renowned for its comfort. We are very excited to showcase this unprecedented milestone to our customers, especially those who have been requesting a relatively thin, square string from us.

Additionally, tension maintenance is well above average - another extremely difficult characteristic to elevate in a sharp/square profile, and we have achieved it with Aspera Triplum.

Finally, power is abundant and very much well balanced with control. Comparable to Tour Mako Silver in this department, players will be able to use Aspera Triplum as a true weapon on the court in a new era of tennis where power, spin and groundstroke dominance is key.

We can't wait to disrupt the market yet one more time with Aspera Triplum. We are incredibly proud of this string, and we have applied all we know and have learned into its development. We want players to see real benefits on the court and we want to elevate the game of tennis with this string. Above all, we want to innovate.

Available in Neon Yellow. One more color possibly available later in 2025.

Shape: Squarely shaped, with an abrasive surface, and rough with indentations.

Diameter: 1.19 mm

Tension recommendations:

- Normal poly stringing tension.

Individual 12m set.

Stringing Tips:

As with any square string, watch your clamp pressure and avoid crushing the strings or allowing the clamp to slide based on which edges you are compressing. Might have to adjust clamping pressures at times."

Exciting news! I just bought some. What tension would you recommend for a Yonex Percept 100D?

Thank you for your constant support.
A spin string softer than alpha is a tremendous achievement to boast about. Sounds like a great addition to the lineup.

From your testing, do you find this works well as a full bed or is this especially popular as the mains in a hybrid? I know a lot of people play Gamechanger full bed effectively, but a lot of square strings wind up recommended most in a hybrid setup (like in your neon dust hybrid) for predictability reasons.

Thank you! And that's a great point. More than 90% of our testing was conducted in full bed, since we were developing the string on its own. We absolutely love it this way.

Now, this is where the players jump in and continue discovering more uses for the string, experimenting with more setups that we would have time to test in years. What I can tell you is that we have put time in with Mako, Paradox, Sniper, M8 and Alpha crosses, and I liked it a lot. M8 and Sniper for reducing power and adding some firmness. Alpha and Paradox in the middle, and Mako to maintain similar power output, but with more snapback. In addition, a whole new world is available for players wanting to test with multi crosses, even though Aspera will be hard on those crosses. Believe it or not, many many players use sharp poly mains with multi crosses and are happy with it. They need the spin, power and comfort of that setup and it's a good compromise for them.

I would start with testing Aspera in full bed and you might be delighted.

Your participation in this forum really shows how you care a lot about our feedback, and it makes me want to be baptized into Grapplesnake cult. I use Tour Mako (my first Grapplesnake) 50/48 in my VCore 100+ 2023. I feel that it is very powerful, soft, and not plasticky. I usually use conventional tour strings such as Lynx Tour, Confidential, Razor Code (best control-power balance for me but hurts my wrist a lot). How can you compare your lineup to Toroline? Particularly their masterpiece Otoro, which intrigues me.

I've only used Super Toro from Toroline, very stiff and tension maintenance was poor.
Can't compare anything else, but by entering the Grapplesnake cult you'll experience a different feeling sensation on contact. Better performance from great control, good enough power, and durability (tension and elasticity)
Every string is different though, so for your previous usage I would've started with Tour Sniper and Tour M8.

Personally, and here they know, I disliked Tour Mako for the reasons You mentioned, it was ultra powerful and ultra soft, but very spinny. I think Tour Mako would work best for dense patterns, as a cross and for people with shorter swings. And the reasons on why I disliked Mako are probably the reasons of the creation of Tour Mako Silver with aluminium infused.

Welcome to the cult, order your sets!

If you're looking for soft with good control try Alpha as well. Very well done string.
