Thanks guys. I´ve read that it does not have so much of pop. Feels more deader.
I like more of a crisp strings. It just gives me a better feel for my forehand. Is crispnes there, or is it more of a dead string (benchmark for dead is something like Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 17)?

EDIT: I see now, that it should be fairly crisp. I will give it a try than :)
Thanks again!

Before the lockdown I stared playing with both Tour Sniper and Alpha in DR98s and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a couple more sets for testing as I couldn't test both of them for a prolonged period (and multiple tensions).

Tour Sniper
  1. Well-balanced string, great control, predictable power, sufficient spin
  2. Launch angle felt exactly right
  3. Softer than I expected, comfortable for a poly - high dwell time and deflection for a control string
  4. Given the above, there was only an initial tension loss and after that it played constantly even after being 5 weeks in a bag
  5. Reminded me a lot of RS Lyon in terms of power, playability and feel (comfort + control) / for those that like RS Lyon, worth a try
Alpha
  1. Similar to Tour Sniper in terms of feel and spin but more lively and powerful
  2. Great feel on impact, especially when hitting hard
Overall I was pleased with both and will test them again. In a match, I would probably prefer Tour Sniper because it's a bit lower powered but Alpha felt great when just hitting.

Tour Sniper is a sweet string. Fantastic control and surprising comfort. Control and comfort rarely go hand in hand in a poly. It’s usually one at the expense of the other. Tour Sniper manages to display both properties exceptionally well. Compare to other low-powered strings like Hyper G and RPM Blast, it doesn’t have as much spin potential but better control and more comfortable. It also has better playability and tension maintenance unlike Hyper G, which goes dead after a couple of sets and feels like you’re hitting with a board. I put this in the latest PAVS to tame some of its power and it’s a fantastic combo. Even better than RPM Blast and much more comfortable. This string is a keeper. I think I’m gonna get a whole reel.

Played a few hours more with the various strings using new sets. Tour Sniper is now my favourite over Alpha and the Neon hybrid. Easily the best of the three. Alpha is good but it doesn't quite have the feel and control as Tour Sniper. The Neon hybrid was nothing remarkable I thought, at least for me. Like other very squarish strings, it lacks feel IMO, which can work for others depending on the racquet of course. A bit bimmicky for me. However, Tour Sniper clearly stands out to me, great feel, comfort, control and predictable tension maintainance. Reminds me a lot of RS Lyon, if not better, at a smaller price. Surprised it's not more popular to be honest.

Yes. Been playing with it a long time.. really good string... it would be great if they made a thinner gauge as well.. would be better for my v7 18x20...

@Grapplesnake USA Official - any plans on different gauges sir?

Hey!

Before Covid, there were plans on a thinner version of Cube in a different color as well. Will probably happen later this year. But as far as Alpha and Tour Sniper, they will stick with 1.25mm for now!

Thank you guys / girls for all the nice comments and positive reviews. Means a lot to us!

I tried the tour sniper strung up @50 in one of my six one’s the last few days. Have about 4 hours on it and it’s been consistent for this whole time.

This is a really nice string. Very comfortable, good spin. Low power but not dead, good feel at net for me. Serves have been on for me anyway, but I was having good pace and bite with these also. I could use fishing line in the six one and that would be true, so tough to judge enhancements there.

The standout features for me were 1. Comfort. 2. Control. 3. Feel. I know feel is subjective on a dead-er poly, but for me this was exactly the right level.

Really really enjoyed this string and will be playing with it for the summer at least if it lasts over 6 hours. Based on other reviews I expect it too.

Got partial and not complete review for Tour Sniper and Alpha.

Disclaimer: got a new Angell TC 100 v3 late last year and I strung it with Tour Sniper

Tour Sniper: Didn't get enough play time to thoroughly test this one for multiple instances. But initially didn't work well for me, coming from Pure Aero Tour (2016) using RS Lyon string then test this new string with my new TC 100 v3, so a lot of adjustment and up to now I'm just starting to get the hang of TC 100 v3. Low powered, launch angle is medium-low but predictable power and decent spin. Too bad we got social distancing back in December and closed recreation area/park on our area because of measles, then on January eager to play and hit hard then injured my shoulder then Covid-19 lockdown came after so sadly I only got bad taste with this string (and racket )before I got the hang of it.

Alpha: We are opening up this June and we could play tennis again, re strung my dead Tour Sniper, shoulder is good and got really rusty but once I got the hang of it, this one is more lively and powerful compared to Tour Sniper, really good combination with my TC 100v3, so far so good and spin is easier than Sniper.

I guess the PAT that is spin and power oriented needs Tour Sniper or lower powered string to tame the power, the control racket or for me which is tamed down power of TC 100v3 compared to PAT need more lively spin like Alpha. I'll play more but so far Alpha has better initial impression for me compared to Tour Sniper on my TC 100.

@Grapplesnake USA Official any new pro sponsorships recently? also, what is the current top 3 strings among your sponsored pros?

Lastly, when is the next big sale for strings? :D

We've been focusing on a few college players here in the US. Can't talk about promotions in this forum, but I would recommend checking our website! Top 3 string for pro and college players: Cube, Tour Sniper and Neon Hybrid.

Cheers!

Cube String is a great string for experienced players looking for easy spin. It is similar to Weiss Ultra Cable but I find it a bit more arm friendly and a bit more muted. The offset to the muted feel is a bit more control and I find a bit more feel as the ball is less likely to spring off the racket when strung at a lower tension. I'd highlight I string the Weiss Ultra Cable or Grapplesnake Cube at 48 vs normal 52 for poly string in a Head MP Extreme. Good dwell time on racket and the additional spin gives great ability to target the shot.

I'm almost done with my second set of reels of CES Hybrid. I'm kinda curious about trying Alpha or Tour Sniper though. I love the spin and the grip of the CES strings on the ball. However I'm wondering if either Alpha or Tour Sniper might be more suitable for me because I generally hit flatter shots and hit more through the ball with an eastern forehand grip. How does the CES hybrid compare with Alpha or Tour Sniper in terms of spin, feel, power and control?

Both Alpha and Tour Sniper will give you a little more power, and are also softer, with Alpha being the most powerful and softest of the three. The Neon hybrid is the most spin friendly of the three.

Alpha is a little more focused on power and comfort, while Tour Sniper's emphasis is control and tension maintenance.

Hope it helps,

Has anyone used any of these string in a hybrid with synthetic gut?

Thinking wait her Tour sniper or Alpha with synthetic gut.

I have TE so I usually use hybrid, currently I use Cyclone Tour 17/ babolat syn 17

So I’m looking to replace the cyclone tour

Tour Sniper : great control
Alpha : great comfort

You should try Alpha full bed one time.

Well I bought 1 package of each: tour sniper, alpha and liquid

Liquid is only good as a cross with a really stiff poly in the main... Because Liquid is extremely soft...
It would be better to buy two sets of Alpha. To try it as a full bed and in hybrid.

Will report back

Liquid was made to be a cross for the really stiff Cube Extra Sharp... Don't forget that when choosing tension if you don't want to have a trampolin! ;)

I have a set of Liquid, will string it up in FB with normal to low tension and see how it performs.

I like soft strings, and are looking for the ultimate soft poly setup with good performance too.

My normal tension is cyclone tour @46/ synthetic @48

I was thinking using around the same tension

I finally have been able to try the tour sniper in my blade v7 18x20. I really, really like it. The feel of it plus the control is really top notch. I go between this and tourna silver 7 tour and its a tough decision. I think the tour sniper translates to more frames though so im leaning towards going with it.

Its wild how i feel like i can get plenty of power yet still have good control of my depth. Mine was strung at 49#s.

The feel and control are great but its best quality is playability duration. I keep coming back to this string after playing around with other combos. My reel is running low and I don’t know the next sale coming up [emoji22]

Yes a July 4 sale would be great!

I just checked the tension on mine. After a bit over an hour of play it had the big intial drop from 49 to 45#s. Thats really good, usually I see 7-8 pounds with other strings. If it holds there for a while I will be really happy.

I haven't used those tension check devises; I rely on whether it starts turning into a stiff board or a trampoline. But it's good to know the tension loss is minimal. Let me know how you like it after 1 week of playing with it and then in end of week 2. I usually cut out by mid-week three, which is really good given I play 3-5 times a week (6-10 hours).

TW carries it in Europe. Not is US.

About tentions maintenance... yeah Tour Sniper is great. Also another thing that gets lost on us blade v7 users is comfort as well... for such a control oriented poly. very good comfort as well...

Odd question but is the TS a fairly heavy string? I feel like it adds 18 grams to my frame and more swingweight. Just something i notice going back and forth since the silver 7 is noticeably lighter. My frames are matched.

Never weighed it. But that could be another minor reason I like it. I have 10g of silicone in my blade plus a leather grip. I didn't like lead in the hope so maybe the extra string weight plus dampener was just enough for the sweet spot.

Funny you should ask... i never weighted it either but i think so. At first i had trouble using it bc i felt like it made SW even heavier... therefore i started to go with hyper g and yptp 1.20mm.. thinner and lighter.. having said that.. i can check eventually weighing static on same racquet with TS and hyper g and report back at some point.

Either way, as i have gotten used to the SW of the blade more i have been using it with great satisfaction.

Very happy to read your positive impressions on Tour Sniper. Thank you for your constant support!

Would there be interest in a slightly softer and green version of Cube? To us, Cube is a super stable string for hard-hitters, and we have gotten some feedback from players that simply don't like black strings too much, to offer it in a different color.

Let us know!

Maybe if it's not a green similar to Hyper G. Perhaps white or light blue? Definitely yes on softer.

I would kindly suggest that a good middle ground may be to offer a thinner version of CES. Sharply edged strings can sometimes feel a bit mushy if they aren't made of a stiff material, because the shape can grab the ball so suddenly. For players with higher racquet head speed capabilities, that can make harder shots feel imprecise unless the tension is high or the string material is stiffer and less elastic. A thin CES would provide the help that recreational players need to generate the maximum spin they are capable of, while allowing them to keep string tensions low enough to provide some arm safety.

When I played with Cube, it was really good for about six hours, and then the loss of elasticity seemed to affect the string. I could string up Cube pretty low because it was such a thick string, but my concern would be that a thinner version of Cube would be more susceptible to a loss of elasticity because it has lower inherent stiffness.

I just wanna give another shoutout to Tour Sniper. It will be my go-to string for the foreseeable future. I have experimented with all kinds of strings for the past several years and I have never found a string that suits my game perfectly as Tour Sniper has. Control and comfort are the key characteristics that sets it apart from its competitors. It plays consistently from the first hit to the last. Playability and tension maintenance have also been good as I was getting a good 3-4 weeks out of it playing almost every day before it goes dead. When it goes dead, you will know as there's a loss of power and control. It is also one of the easiest polys to string as it doesn't coil up the further into the reel you go.

I am getting to restring my racket with Tour Sniper in a hybrid with natural gut. How would you suggest changing the tension coming from Irukandji, if at all?
