Irukandji and gut? Works great. Give it a try. Extremely good durability with the shape.
What tension(s) do you use? I have a half set to use. I put one half set into a racquet but I think I may have put the tension up too high. I hate to waste a second racquet worth of gut and Irukandji.

I'll piggy back on this :) though I'm not the one who asked, I'm interested.

a) On the Forehand - I use an somewhere between eastern and semi-western grip , OHBH
b) moderate swing speeds - I'm playing on the 45+ veteran age bracket ;-) all court play
c) Racket: Wilson PS97 16x19 + leather grip - I play mostly low-tensions even with Gut/Poly combos - sub 45 lbs
d) ah! re nat gut - I use the NGW brand... V4 or V5

One other thing that confuses me a bit... "grapplesnake USA" w/ strings made in Germany - so are you a US or european company ? and where are you shipping your stuff from ? I'm based in Portugal so shipping from the US would not be very practical.

looking forward to hear your recommendation.

You can order from Tennis Warehouse Europe I think it is a German brand with a US distributor.

The problem with ordering couple of sets from TWE is shipping costs - it costs almost as much for shipping as for the 2 sets... so I need to either artifically buy tennis stuff that I don't really need until the shipping cost is justifiable per item... or wait until I do....

You hear that @TWE Staff !!?

Yes, we are the North American distributor. Sorry, we don't ship to Europe. Grapplesnake also has its own German website you can check. Thanks for your interest.

Oh! And in your case, I would stick with same tension on the gut and Irukandji at 45 lb or so in your Pro Staff. It's mostly at high tensions where things change a bit, being a good idea to string Irukandji a little lower than the gut.

I just fill up my order with tennis balls cans (you can always use those) until I meet the free shipping amount. TWE often has some good prices on Wilson or Head balls.

I use a Yonex VCore Pro HD 97 18X20. I am a 4.0 player. Gut mains at 56-58 lbs.

Ok. I would recommend going with Irukandji at 55 and not higher. If and when you feel comfortable, maybe drop your entire set up to around 56M/54C. With that dense frame, I would personally play at 53M/51C, but everyone's different. Hope it helps.

Great info and tension suggestions. Thank you!! Do you think the 53M may be perhaps too low for the gut mains? Wouldn't it be too powerful and less control at the lower tension? I think I will use the 56M/54C and see how that feels and plays.

I think based off of what you said in the other thread, I would go lower on the poly and keep the gut higher. I found it difficult to maintain control with lower tension gut. But I also don't hit with a lot of topspin. If you have good strokes, you may be able to manage the lower tension.

What tensions would you suggest? I appreciate your input. I put one set in at pretty close to the same tensions and it feels sort of jarring when hitting.

I think most of the stiff feeling is really due to the Irukandji. I don't really feel that my 58/52 tension is any stiffer than when I had it at 56/52, but I did notice a good bit more control when I was hitting. Again, there are lots of people who are able to hit with good topspin and keep balls in with low poly tensions sub-50, which I absolutely cannot do. If you hit with decent topspin, you could definitely give 50lb Irukandji a try. Up to you on the natural gut, I'd say maybe 56 or 58.

That sounds like a more reasonable tension 56 lb or 58 lb gut mains and 50lb cross of Irukandji.

I cannot use sub 50 polys either. I tried a couple of racquets with very low tensions ranges. It definitely was not for me either. I hated that feeling and play of the low tension racquets. Never again.

58/52. I was always just hitting the ball out when I was using 56/52. But again, it's a poor excuse for bad technique. If I had more money, I would definitely get some lessons to learn to hit with some actual top spin instead of just crushing flat balls all the time hah. But it's more fun to crush flat balls than suffer hitting tons of balls into the net.

Thank you for the clarification and explanation. I will give it a try at 58/52.

We've been on the phone with Shopify, which is the shopping system that hosts our website, handles payments through their secure checkout system (we also have PayPal available). They went through our website without problem, also ran a scan on it, checking if there are any files or anything that's corrupted or could be causing Netgear Armor to block us. They didn't find anything wrong.

We will now contact Netgear Armor and request the same. We obviously want to fix the issue if there is one, and this is top priority for us, given how hard we have worked building a good reputation as a new company, how tough it has been to continue to grow this year during Covid, and how easy that can be damaged due to something like this.

We also want to give @Holdfast44ID an answer as to why he's experiencing this issue. There are probably lots of tech-savvy players here in the forum, and we are open to suggestions.

Thanks again for all the support.

Hi everyone. Sorry! Didn't mean to cause any issues. It is due to Bitdefender AV flagging the site. Other AV vendors say the site is clean. It could just be a false-positive. I gave Grapplesnake a link to submit the URL to Bitdefender for review as only they can remove the site URL from their list.

Hi! That sounds quite interesting again!
Can you tell us again, how the "stiffnes-list" looks like or has modified, incl. your last new strings => Estess Pro - Liquid 2.0 - Game Changer?

The last information was:
Liquid (softest) - Irukandji - Liquid Neon Dust - Alpha - Cube - Tour Sniper - Excellent Purple - CES Neon Dust - Cube Extra Sharp (firmest)

Thank you, and greetings from austria!
ESP!

I have some mixed feelings about this launch...
This is obviously a "Hyper-G clone" in its core, but with promises of better feel, durability and even spin. It sounds perfect to begin with.
But on the other hand it costs 20 euros more than standard Hyper-G or new Hyper-G soft. (based on EU prices)
I am not sure if this is going to work out. There is a huge Hyper-G fanbase and some of the fans are searching for something cheaper, yet as close to Hyper-G. This string might even be better, but is it that much better, that even that price different is worth it? I don´t know, we shall se from reviews.

OBW I am excited about new string on the market. I just can´t see bright future for it :(

Hello. Price structure in the US is different for Game Changer, and for all of our strings for that mater. Due to TW policy, we cannot advertise or post them, but you can always check our website.

As far as EU prices, we have zero control over them.

Estress Pro is a variation of Tour Sniper with a different amount of aluminum, while Irukandji 2.0 is obviously a reformulated Irukandji.
Those strings have been made in small batches. We don't have them in the US yet, because their performance on the market is still being evaluated in Europe. I have an idea of where they would fit on the list, but that's just an idea.

Game Changer fits right there between Alpha and Cube! That was a great question, and thank you for posting it.

Big grapplesnake fan.. ordered and will compare to hyper g and hyper g soft and drop some feedback in here..
Question.. is it thicker or thinner than sniper? I love sniper in open pattern but i like hyper g help on launch angle for v7 18x20... so this may fit the blade nicely as long as its not too thick. I know you put the measurement but since this is shaped i wanted to see how it compares to sniper in thickness. Thank you vm.

I have not tested GS but I really applaud the guts to enter such a competetive market especially producing in Germany (with German tennis struggling a little). The communication in this thread is also great.

It still will be a tough battle to establish in this market against giants and we will see how it goes but they are doing it the right way and I wish them well.

Thank you! What keeps us going and growing is the high quality of our strings and all the positive feedback. If we were trying to sell low quality polys, 2020 would have probably been devastating for us due to Covid. We hope that more shops will begin offering our strings next year, if and when the economy gets better and they decide to include us in their range of products. That's where inquiries from you guys and girls to them are super valuable, asking and requesting stores to carry us.

Thanks again,

@Grapplesnake USA Official can you elaborate more on the difference between Estess Pro and Tour Sniper? More or less aluminium?

A little less (-5%), which is replaced with a brown tint, giving it an interesting color, but not really changing the feel being so small of a reduction. We know other brands monitor this thread and we shouldn't talk too much more about the composition of our strings. Thanks for asking and at least you now know that it's less :)

Tour Sniper is my go-to string at the moment, wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on something possibly better :D

I read some of the posts in this thread that mentioned Grapplesnake Alpha as an arm-friendly poly. At this stage of my string experimentation journey, I had all but given up on poly. I developed what seemed like permanent elbow and shoulder sensitivity after using Hyper G for about a year straight. That was about two years ago, and every poly I've tried since has given me arm discomfort within about 10 strokes. They've all been soft, too: Isospeed Cream, Big Hitter Black, WeisCannon Silverstring, etc. And, in case you are thinking that perhaps a stiff frame was the cause, these were all strung in a Prince Phantom 100P.

I've been amazed with the comfort of Alpha. I used it as a cross with OGSM 17g in the mains, and strung it at about 44lbs in a Yonex VCore Pro 97HD. I felt absolutely zero discomfort and "rediscovered" the spin and control I had been missing since giving up poly. This is a really impressive string.

Thank you so much, we're very happy to read your experience. There have been multiple players writing us to state the same, that is why we are so proud of Alpha, because it really creates a bridge into a comfortable poly experience for players that had pretty much given up on poly. And it's not just a soft string, it has so much control and a little bit of a crisp feel when you hit hard.

Thanks again!
