Inuit Elders Tell NASA the Earth's Axis Has Shifted

For the record, I believe in climate change. I just don't believe it's due to carbon emissions and cow ****. That's all.

Our planet is not a static, closed system. It is constantly changing. Our climate has obviously varied throughout earth's history. It would be silly to think that it suddenly stopped changing.

That is really not the point. The same causes also create pollution, so arguing about it is silly. It is like not going to the doctor with an injury because something else could have also caused the same injury or bigger.

No, it's not like that at all. It's more like the doctor giving you blood pressure medication for a sprained ankle.

There's no long term stasis in the Earth's climate. It will be getting gradually warmer or cooler over time. What seems like long stretches of time, say 30 years, is actually a very short time in the Earth's history.

I do believe there's been a warming effect recently but it will surely reverse. Also, most importantly, I for one am thrilled we don't have a strong cooling trend for its effects would be devastating.

I don't appreciate such trends being used for profit or government projects or unnecessary fear.

You know the panic folk dont like rational thinking

Heh, I didn't know right wing alarmist clowns were publishing ice age fear agendas since 1976.

you do realize you have it 100% backwards?

the left are the fear mongers in this. if you cant see that then you really should marry chrischris cause you 2 sheep are made for each other

Cooling is bad too. It would lead to another ice age. Unfortunately, we are not able to tweak things so that we can survive one way or the other. It would be good to have a climate control system in which we say: This level of pollution is OK, this much sea level rise we can cope with, and with this much warming, we can keep an ice age away. But such a system does not exist.

Additionally, I'm pretty sure the Earth's axis did shift due to that massive earthquake years ago...

Believe in guts. Believe.

Whats alarming is the lack of critical thinking and source analysis ,the people with authority due to hard earned degrees in climatologiy are the ones that can be listened to get the basics.
Today it seems deniers try to make believe anyones opinion should be take as serious as those who have worked to qualify to get their positions.
How would it be received if ,by the same abyssmal reasoning, one would be insulted if Federer would not play any Local bero on his home public shabby court or argue that any drinken bum of the streets be fit to be Mayor ,CEO or pilot surgeon etc.....

The scientific method examines fully well how things interact counter to the believers in some weird conspiracy or another..

The author is a known conservative troll who published a book fearmongering an ice age nearly 40yrs ago. That's all i was implying. If you think that's "100% backwards" then disprove me instead of erecting a strawman.

Does not exist...yet. Pretty sure the UN will have a thermostat in NYC to do this very thing in the near future.

Saying you believe in climate change is as profound as saying you believe in your own mortality.

Just calling attention to the fact that when people discuss climate change, the man made aspect is implied always.

But, thank you, for your profound input, sir.

And, we should also consider that many of these scientists have much at stake to prove humans are driving climate change. It is more lucrative for them.

Wasn't there a situation a few years ago with leaked e-mails suggesting some researchers had doctored their data to support their case for climate change? The scientific method is fine, but the scientists themselves are people...flawed and biased like the rest of us. I'm not saying everything is made up, but it's not clearly proven, IMO, that burning coal is the only reason our climate changes. There are other factors/possibilities.

I have no problem with objective research to try to figure it out, but forgive me if I have some doubts about the objectivity of research that is funded by an entity that wants to prove that carbon emissions are the sole, or at least the primary, cause.

I just think we should be certain before we take drastic measures that could wreck our economy. At this point, it seems far from certain to me.

And, I have no issues with clean energy. I'm all for it. But, until we can adequately and effectively replace what we currently have, we shouldn't rush to shut it down, IMO.

You may be all for it, but what really matters is who is not for it, and how powerful they are. They have created "alternative energy" labs in their companies to fool the public, while they are behind the effort to stem the increasing popularity of solar and wind. They have lobbyists in every state trying to pass laws to prevent solar and wind. You probably think of them as naive people just waiting for new developments to come around, but they are actually powerful vested interests who operate on an international scale to increase the profits of their companies. Just like tobacco companies tried to convince you that freedom meant able to blow smoke towards other people, they are now trying to prey on your "independent" mindset which "questions everything."

I'm fully aware how the world works. That both sides have are heavily invested in the outcome. Somebody's going to be rich and powerful either way.

Are you always condescending or is that reserved for "independent" thinkers like myself?

Do/did you watch Heroes, BTW?

This is the other point that puts the clown shoes on the other foot: All throughout human history we have been battling nature but suddenly when it comes to climate change now, the conservatives are suddenly "oh no, we shouldn't interfere, let nature take its course."

That this line of thinking happens to help along their profit margins is just an astonishing coincidence, right?

Right now, who has the most money invested and how do they spend it on lobbying etc ? By what margin do they exceed the 'others'? add a source if you are so kind, thanks.

Oh dear... you fell for that one? Man, you are a newby conspiracy theorist.

Those are ballast barrels which are used to simulate the weight of passengers/baggage when aircraft are being tested. You might notice that the barrels don't have pipes coming out of them which would be a basic requirement for getting the fluid out to create chemtrails.

Also, if you were going to do chemtrails wouldn't you used a more efficient system than that? Not to mention the aircraft isn't even finished - why would you take all of that stuff out if you were just replacing seats with chemtrail chemicals? Or do they only use aircraft with unfinished interiors for chemtrails?

And I guess cabin crew like the woman standing there are so trustworthy that you can let them in on it all and they wont tell anyone? How come she's wearing the Airbus "Love At First Flight" logo they used during early promotion of the A380 to media and at airshows?

Isnt it rather comic? To think we wouldnt notice.

No. There wasn't any doctoring as the subsequent investigation found. Bad attempt at smear that ran in the right wing press.

And no one is claiming that burning coal is the only reason our climate changes.

No one advocates wrecking the economy, but the fact is that the incentives need to work for clean energy and not for fossil fuels as they do now.

I think G4tennis might have a hard time distinguishing left and right maybe bh and fhs too :)

the left is the ones that say they want a sustainable future, the right wants just the day to day economy to flourish and the right wing now makes up 100% of all world Govs regardless of their labels $$$ rules. Both left and right wings promises are used to give people the illusion we have a choice.

In all seriousness if its a lie or not, the world does need a new industrial age towards sustainables, I dont see what would create more jobs without strict laws in efficiency and less polluting energy production that doesnt involve a fuel source from under the ground unless its geo-thermal.

Nuclear like many industries is heavily subsidized and controlled by the weapons industry. It is the dirtiest most consequence ridden monopoly system for of energy production then after that is Coal which is also extremely filthy yet inhaling coal particulates produces cancer much later than inhaling radio Isotopes, ingesting polonium, cesium or any of the radio Isotopes also creates more issues than Coal constituents that can be found in the food chain. The economy still runs with heavy subsidies and Gov rules are drafted or implemented to stop evolutionary companies like Tesla motors making a difference or successful movement.

The Germans with their little bit of sunshine make a difference with solar by having the most use per capita in the world. Aussies, Japanese, Kiwis and many other solar customers have made efforts for solar thanks to the Germans but the Govs are taking away the benefits and changing legislation world wide to protect the energy big wigs.

There is no new world order or conspiracies, just crimes that are allowed by the judges and system designed by Bankers and corporations that know very well that "if voting made a difference it wouldnt be allowed" - Mark Twain.

We will keep paying more tax than the big wigs, we will pay for subsidies without our consent and lobbying will continue in the public eye or under the table. Its human nature but the TPP is a big giant phelic monster and is coming for everyones rear whether we bend over or not.

Well, fair enough. The impression I often get when I hear about this issue is that climate change is hastening the apocalypse. I'll be living on a beach in 50 years but won't be able to enjoy because the weather will be bad and unpredictable. If we can somehow stop burning fossil fuels we can stave it off and save the world. But, if we don't do it soon, it will be too late to 'reverse' the process.

So it seems we would agree then if there are more contributing factors than simply fossil fuels.

What are the other factors that "cause" climate change? I never hear them mentioned. And, proportionally speaking, how does each contribute?

Consider me curious...but, in truth, I don't really care much about climate change. I'm a skeptic on that issue.

Now, if you want to discuss the real environmental issues that seem to plague our energy sources - water pollution, air pollution, oil spills, etc. Those are far more alarming to me. And better, more valid reasons to hope for clean, renewable energy sources in the future. Coal is already on its way out, but natural gas is going to take its place to some degree. While it may be cleaner, it has its own issues. Like fracking. But, I digress...

How dare **** sapiens believe they impact our Earth more than any other species. Bacteria can reproduce from one cell to 1,000,000,000 in ten hours, while humans replicate in 9 months.

We're just a blip in the Universe's time.

But that rate depends on which poaster's gut they are infesting. So even there homo sapiens have an impact.

But do you think other creatures burn things for energy year on year and create pollution ,waste and toxins ?

We are a blip in time but despite that we have managed to create an enormous problem , we dont fit in too well yet in the scheme of life and prosperity.
The best way to fix it is to design better energy supply systems and design goods that arent a burden to life in general.

Just like conservatives don't "want dirty air and water", I'd say most also want to head in the right direction where oil and gas eventually become a thing of the past. The technology will get us there eventually with or without government help.

Just looking at an advertorial in the Indian Express about some 2 guys who are about to round the world in a solar plane "Solar Impulse 2". About 35'000 km, incl a 5 day stretch over the Pacific.

Here's a link that i just dug up.

They used to be aware of the world outside of their own business portfolios.
Nixon,Reagan(although he undid a helluva lot ) and Bush senior werent as
'me,myself and i ' and screw science that tells a story that conflicts with the holy idea of short term imagined win.

Republicans vote and also govern so they have a record, whereas conservatives as such are not a political party. That is also a relevant distinction.

I can't tell a drastic difference in Republicans and Democrats in terms of greed, lying, etc. I know how crooked my local politicians are...just to get a little power in a small town. I can only imagine what kind of people make it to DC.:)

I don't believe any of them care about anything but themselves. Everything, every issue, is just a tool to extract votes...or more precisely, money to buy votes.

To be fair, there are some good people that serve too.

Anyone keen on the solutions for the US ?

The 2 party thing is too stale and slow it seems.. There are some solutions seem to be needed according to an insider that knows how DC and business and democracy works.

Agreed. And I think most are hamstrung by the 2 party system and are forced to tow the party lines.

To be fair, there are some good people that serve too.

I agree. And, not only does the current 2-party system hamstring them as Sander notes, I also think they are significantly outnumbered by the typical politicians. So, those two facts in combination, severely limit what is even possible for them to achieve.

Campaign finance reform, along with term limits on all offices would be a nice starting point to get back in the right direction. Mitch McConell is going to end up being a senator for 30+ years. It's nice to have a senate leader from your home state, but nobody should hold an office that long. Both senate and congress should be the same as the POTUS, IMO (wow that's a lot of CAPS), 4-year terms, 2-term limit. If they want to avoid too much change at once, they could stagger the elections and have the senate and president in one cycle and the congress in a separate one two years apart.

Completely unrelated serious question here - is the correct term "tow the line" or "toe the line"? I have always assumed the latter, "toe", to be correct, but it struck me just now reading Sanders quote that either one makes sense...at least to me.:)

Doesn't the German system have 6 parties that have to form coalitions to enact legislation?
