Ion Tiriac sharply criticized the women's singles finalists at FO 2019

Well, the match did suck. And Aussies don't know how to read or write. So, what's the problem? :-D

But, no one takes Tiriac seriously on things like this. Barty probably laughed about it.

Then can you please enlighten me as to how these “idiots” become rich ? Really curious to know. And would you happen to be a self made billionaire ???
Answer numero uno is that they inherited it. Cocktail circuits are littered with failsons and the otherwise undeserving. And even if you argue that they do deserve the wealth, which you no doubt will, that still doesn't speak to their intelligence.

There are plenty of idiots walking around who fell into wealth by knowing the right people, being related to the right people, even sleeping with the right people to at least get their foot in the door. Or even just got lucky one day. There are also plenty who are smart with money or business but are fools or knuckle-draggers in every other respect.

Does anyone care what this misogynistic old man says?

Vile comments towards Ash Barty who's one of, if not the sweetest player on tour and wouldn't hurt a fly. Just shows how disgusting this man is.
I don't get why he took the time out of his day to target her like that. What did she ever do to deserve that? I doubt he's even met her. It really does show the kind of guy he is that he went out of his way to say these things, not in retaliation or anything, but for no reason whatsoever. What's Australia ever done to him either?

"In the final, Sharapova, Halep, or Williams were missing. Barty has won only one credit. It's an Australian," said Tiriac. "They can't write or read, but there's always someone who has good technical knowledge from A to Z," he nodded indiscriminately.

Tiriac also criticized his compatriot Halep, which lost in QF with Anisimova:
"She played horribly, deep below her level. Quarterfinal is not a success for me. She didn't have the spark she needed at all, "
That's a new development.

When did Tiriac became a Serena stan?

How secretly evil Ash Barty has to be that she turned Tiriac into loving Serena? lmao

The only plausible logic here is that he started to hate Barty due to her suddenly being lauded as this nicest girl on tour who is loved by her peers more than any other (this time last year we were told that "status" was held by Halep). The truth of course is that all this media anoiting the alleged "nicest/most adored" girl on tour needs to stop. We already know and have incontrovertible evidence that neither Ash nor Halep but Kvitova is the one most adored by her fellow players. This matter is settled and is not even up for debate.

Tiriac learned well the old proven communist tactic of elevating oneself at the expense of others.

And he does indeed need elevating, since he was exposed 20 years ago by German authorities as a mafioso trafficking in mercedes cars.

The evidence seems to have disappeared even from the internet.
There are worse things in life than trafficking mercedeses. I wouldn't worry about that. Killing helpless animals for fun is much worse.

Former member of the world's top ten and owner of Mutua Madrid Open, Ion Tiriac, was not happy with the final match at Roland Garros. In his statement, he revealed that champion Ashleigh Barty was didn't play so well to deserve the French Open title. At the same time, he criticized the whole final.

Translation:
"The women's final at Roland Garros was the worst I've ever seen," Tiriac said, saying he had even left the final match after four games. "Please excuse my sincerity. After four games I wanted to leave and even did it! ”

What else is new? The women's final is nearly always a let down.

In both my posts I did say “self made” which means they didn’t inherit it.

Anyone that condones the random killing of 1000's of animals "just for fun" should be tied to a rock and covered in blood in lion territory.

And... yes - he's a billionaire so he can get away with being the biggest, vilest, racist, most misogynistic, cold-blooded, piece of vermin on the planet. But admiring him for it actually makes you the sociopath.

Another narcistic billionaire who lacks basic empathy and decency. At least, he was himself skilled in some way, having been a top player on the tour.

bit extreme to wish death on a hunter tho, ymmv
Nope, killing living creatures (by the thousands) just for fun is cruel, sociopathic and you can be damned certain some of those animals were endangered and maybe some were even domesticated. I'll double-down on what I said... I'll bring the damned rope.

I know who'd I'd prefer to watch out of Ash, Maria, Serena and Simona. Hint - she's the one who doesn't grunt like a distressed animal or blame others for losing.
Great point. Honestly not sure why he's gone after Barty. She played great in the final and all tournament and kept her composure (unlike his homegirl Halep who choked at the French Open 2 years earlier). If he's going to slam anyone it "should" be Vondrousova who played an awful match and caused the final to be low quality. None of it was Barty's fault. You can blame the big names for falling early or you can blame Vondrousova for a crap final but Ash did nothing wrong.

Hopefully one day people will realize that hunting animals for sport is not a sign of culture and breeding, but is down there will slavery, racism, subjugation of women and other such social ills.

I would not put it as sociopathic, since it is likely that such people have grown up in an environment where killing animals was cool and a sign of manhood. But, yes, if the guy is bragging about killing thousands of animals, maybe he is sick at some level.

Is Barty part aborigine? Obviously she's not full, but that's racist if Tiriac inferred that.
Actually, you are not "full" or "part" Aboriginal if you are First Nation in Australia. You are Aboriginal. Full stop. Ash Barty identifies as Aboriginal and that is what she is.

Maby cause teen Vondrousova reminds him of the hot skinny models he liked to hang out with in the 60s-80s?

Putting aside his rudeness and tactless framing, I got the impression that his complaint with Barty was not strictly her game or even that final but her future value or overall appeal, or rather lack thereof in terms of not being a commercially appealing charisma/personality and yes, also not being an attractive athlete in terms of physique. I suspect as a tennis businessman he is lamenting that you can't market her to boost ticket sales outside her country (hence he stated that Ash being Australian is her only redeeming factor, because obviously she does pull big money in her homeland). That explains why he focused his criticism on the champion rather than the runnerup, who is the bigger cause of that match being a dud.

There is absolutely no comparison between hunting animals and human slavery and oppression. Nope.

And I'm not a big fan of hunting for sport. But you've completely lost perspective if you think they are in any way remotely similar.

There's a similarity in the infliction of suffering (or deprivation of the life) of a sentient being. We like to distance ourselves from animals to rationalise or mitigate their mistreatment.

It's not a rationalization. It's fact. It's okay to kill animals for use. And even if you disagree and are vegan etc, it's not punishable the same way as killing a human.

In my opinion it's simply monstrous to wish death on someone else. That's all I have to say about this.

One of the reasons is that many religions had rationalized the killing and exploitation of animals by declaring that they have been placed there for human enjoyment. Evolution clearly shows that there is a continuity in life forms and no distinction is absolute.

There was a time when hunting and fishing were the only means of survival in some places. Today, those who kill animals for getting trophies should be regarded as evil people. That includes "sports fishing" and "catch and release fishing." How would you like to be dragged a hundred feet by a hook attached to your jaw before being "compassionately" released?

Saw an interview with some minor celebrity (local news reader or something) who was asked why she was so passionate about fishing. She said it provided "quality family moments." At least she did not pretend it was about food. Quite a disgusting "family" I would say if this is what keeps them together.

Ion Tiriac is simply a low-life.

Humans could just as well make killing humans not punishable/killing animals punishable. Killing animals is considered okay because they're considered stupid compared to humans.

Obviously his comments are disgusting, but I'm not even sure I'd agree it was a bad final like some here do. In fact I don't. I've seen plenty worse in both the women's and men's game. That final was just a case of one player playing badly (1st set in particular) and another player not letting up on her. Barty played a very good match. That to me, is way better than watching Barty choke it away just for the sake of drama. It wasn't the perfect final, but I've seen so many worse ones.

I wonder whether fishing also falls under the criticism of those who oppose hunting.

Both were necessary for survival in the last, and are even now in certain parts of the world. In those places, limited development also ensures that hunting and fishing are sustainable, as the people are not hoarding stuff there. The problem is when hunting and fishing are done for recreation. I really don't see how someone can condone a man traveling in a high-speed yacht with bar and lounge on board and snagging huge fish to win a prize in a competition.

As long as the fish gets eaten and not an endangered species, it's all good.

It's not a rationalization it's a lack of humanity, empathy and compassion. I eat meat, I've never had a problem with hunters - HUNTING FOR FOOD. Hunting for the thrill of watching beautiful creatures die is sociopathic. It's my opinion it's simply monstrous to wish death on creatures 'cause it's fun to watch them die. And I hope it's all you ever have to say on this.

No one here has claimed to be vegan. You and the "other" are not even listening to the actual conversation, I wonder why?

I am amazed that you know what actually happened with the game Tiriac claimed to have killed. Unless he hunts one of the abovementioned categories of animals the animals most certainly were used as food just like any other meat in the store.

He claims to have killed thousands of animals. Ignoring the obvious isn't going to help your "side".
