You can buy a perfectly good phone for next to nothing, what you really want is a phone-sized computer with camera attachment.

I'm upgrading from the iPhone 4 and a few things I like about the iPhone 5 is that I'll be able to transfer all my songs and apps to the iPhone 5. Not just that but I also have an iPad and MacBook pro so I'd be able to use iCloud in which if I take a picture on my iPhone, or download an app it automatically syncs to all my devices. The thing I like about the galaxy s3 is the big screen and all the features.

Basically you are getting an iPhone 5 because you are an Apple fanboy/Apple freak.

I'm getting an iPhone 5 after three years with Android.

One of my biggest issues with Android is fragmentation. Even the SIII, hands down the best Android phone on the market, is running an outdated version of Android. I have a phone that's running a version of Android from 2 years ago...It's frustrating and a big issue with Android IMO.

The screen size of the galaxy is attractive, but feature for feature the two phones are similar. Galaxy has NFC, and more RAM, iPhone has a better processor and a much higher quality design/build.

I'm also looking at the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD, but that phone doesn't come out until later this year.

i am lost. that instruction makes no sense to me. how does this work again ?

Believe me, these apps from Sten (aka. Stoneage on this forum) are amazingly simple once you try them. You would pay hundreds to buy tools that do the same thing and are more complicated.

It's not about hardware! It's all about how the entire package works together.

I've said it before, but the lack of such simple things on the iPhone make it hard for me to use.

For instance, the lack of timestamps on every text message. In a world where you have information at your finger tips and everyone has busy work and social lives, to not be sure when messages were sent and received is shocking. No dates and times on photo's too. You can be looking through them, remembering the stories behind photo's you've taken, and have no idea about the date you took them.

Jailbreaking is an option, but now companies are blocking their apps on phones that have been jailbroken.

Every phone has it's good points and bad points, the Galaxy S3 and Android in general, you can make the little tweaks in seconds of getting it out the box.

I love my MacBook and Apple computers, it would be so much easier for me if the iPhone worked. Unfortunately, some simple things you've been used to on a phone for over 10 years aren't there. It's a shame.

I have to disagree a little as I have really liked my new Android, but it is always the same issues with them. Basically they just start to get choppy and slow regardless of rooting, triple checking installed apps..etc. I have had an ipad for 2 years and the thing just works. No freezing..rarely ever an issue.

The problem with android is there is no uniform OS so people are waiting for things that may never get updated unless they root their phone. And to root this new EVO was pretty easy, but then to update the radios and other things takes serious time..you have to install ubuntu as a safeguard to prevent bricking the phone, and its a pretty detailed process.

What I am saying is that the iOS for me just works. It is simple and easy and fast. That is what I need in a phone more than anything. So I am going to switch out of sprint (which is my main motivation..horrible network) and am doing some research on verizon and at&t.

The network can be a real issue. I have an iPhone4 with AT&T. Text messages from other AT&T customers are very reliable, but occasionally, messages from people on other networks don't get to me until the next day! That's very annoying. I had quite a few dropped calls when I first got my iPhone4, but I don't seem to be getting them now. They must have made some improvements.

I think the smooth, seemless operation of their operating systems is what separates Apple products from the rest of the competition. One of the reasons for that is their closed system. When an operating system has to work with seemingly hundreds of combinations of hardware, chances are you'll run into problems.

I got a Razr Maxx a couple months ago, it's my favorite phone ever. My wife has the iPhone 4 and she's jealous of my Razr.

Apple makes very flashy products, but I've always thought they emphasize form over function too much. I have zero interest in having my own iPhone.

ICS is 2 years old?

How do you know the iPhone has a better processor? I can't find any specs on the A6 core.

I think every platform has issues, it just depends which you're willing to overlook.

It's a shame really, they are really expensive and something that you live with every day, you'd think spending so much on a phone you'd be able to get something exactly what you want.

My girlfriend has a Nokia Lumia and it's a nice phone, the lack of apps would be a problem for me. Whichever way I go i'm going to have to compromise, as I said, with the price you have to pay for a phone it makes compromise harder.

No, ICS is only a year old. My phone happens to be running an OS that's 2+ years old (Gingerbread 2.3). It's still true that a brand new Galaxy SIII is running an already outdated OS.

As for the processor, it's said to be more efficient and effective than anything else on the market. It functions more on the lines of the A15 Cortex that is supposed to come out soon. I have heard that it's a fast, more efficient dual core than the Snapdragon S4.

Do you think the iPhone is more for girls? It seems like the iPhone 5 and previous models have that feminine look, like the shiny, metal exterior, small screen that's more for small hands, and the os is more simple and easy to use.

While some android phones seem like more of a mans phone like the razr maxx with the DuPont Kevlar fiber backing, and other android phones such as the note and gs3 with huge screens.

I've always felt that way about the iphone - a sleek, shiny, pretty phone.

I'm sure the white version is meant to appeal to women but apart from that the discussion is rather silly.

Iphone is the original concept of the modern phone.
Its design is really unique.

Now it's all about the apple environnement.
If you like to pay for everything and go through Itunes all the time to use your phone you're gonna love the iphone.
But all androids phones have that free aspect the iphone will never have.
To me that's the big difference.

Personally I love android, but if you're going to choose a premium phone I would chose the iphone. It will be supported for a long time and will still be worth a lot when you want to upgrade.

I only use budget phones and for that android is great. Too bad apple only offers premium :).

i'm an android user and i just bought an S3 myself, rooted it and flashed a fresh ROM and kernel the second i brought it home. there is a learning curve for android that the iphone does not have i feel. it just turns out i'm as obsessive with my phone as i am with racquets and strings.

True...

although I'm glad Apple shows an American company can still dominate.

I have a Mac at home, switched from PCs back when i thought Apple was somehow better, as in more altruistic or benevolent than other companies.

Psyche!

Apple's main goal is profit just like nearly every other publicly traded corporation...

Yeah, Apple's contractor Foxconn was back in the news last week for using Chinese slave labor -- this time forcing students out of school and into factories to satisfy demand for the iPhone 5. The article points out that Samsung and Nokia have similar issues, but since iPhone is the biggest kid on the block, it's gonna get the most attention for stuff like this.

You are such a troll. There's no way your post is real. What you like about the iPhone 5 is that you can transfer your songs and apps to it? That makes no sense. You can transfer your songs and apps to your current phone that already has your songs and apps on it.

Also, iPhone 4 has iCloud.

The people who run corporations form an interlocking web of economic and political power that results in renumeration boards that pay their managers veritable fortunes that would have been unimaginable fifty years ago.

Whether the company succeeds or fails the main goal is that the managment gets handsomely rewarded.

I've used both and Apple simply blows away the S3 for reliability and ease of use. The S3 is so over-rated. The only plus of the S3 is a removable battery. Thats it.

But who fuchen cares, its just a damn phone. So sick of all the phone wars. Cell phones are killing humanity. Fuch Apple and Samsung. Fuch Uncle Toni too.

So Iphone 5 is to phones what Yonex is to rackets? The gender gap is thinner every day though. lol

Uncle Toni always gets the bad part, poor guy (swimming in money though)

+1 on the Lumia 920. Killer specs, and WP7 is very very good, with WP8 looking even better.

Camera technology in the Lumia 920 alone makes it worth it, but it also has Pure Motion HD and a host of over excellent features, not to mention higher resolution that the competition.

Another phone I was looking at is the Nokia Lumia 920 that's a windows 8 phone. It has some pretty cool features like wireless charging, 332ppi, 8.7 megapixel camera, etc... I don't think it comes out until late October to early November. I've never used a Windows phone before but I hear this is suppose to be a pretty big improvement over previous windows phones.

Yes that phone looks really cool, I like how some critics are already comparing it to the iPhone 5 and gs3, so it must be pretty good.

It's not about hardware. It's about software.

Blackberry 10 wil be an epic fail. No money incentive to develop for it.

I don't think windows 8 will succeed either. Only one thing sells hardware and that's good software. Microsoft and blackberry will not touch Apple. Ever.

I had an s3 and the apps for the camera can't touch camera apps for iPhone. Some good ones but not good as iPhones.

Apple p0wns applications. Hands down.

1 year ago I scoffed at iPhones and Apple with my BB 9930 in my hand. Now I realize what am epic fool I was and how many years I wasted.

The iPhone is FAR from perfect. I could make a 10 minute youtube video laying out all of its shortcomings and bugs. Of which there are many. Not including the farce called iCloud. Or lack of multiple signatures. Or copying and pasting fails. Typing sucks balls but whatever.

Even with all the shortcomings, I gladly forked over $900 for the iPhone 5 today even though it's not that much of an upgrade from a 4s.

Again, though, it's just a stupid phone. Who friggen cares.
