Irrational Reasoning: why you switched frames. or what feature couldn’t you stand?

VCP HD (the green one with VDM) or the 330g H that Hubi H is using are both thin beamed amazing frames but personally I HATE how they feel when holding in my off hand.

Yonex try’s to do too much. the iso head is great tbh (not for me but I don’t mind)
But why in hell do they have to meticulously shave throat to the point where it looks cool and aerodynamic but lacks when holding it. The TSA (Total surface area) that’s been shaved down makes it feel pointy/sharp. Yuck.

I like to have a very solid “off hand grip” and use that hand to change my FH grip on the fly and Yonex in general seem to be the worst at offering traditional box beams.

I do love the feel of traditional box beams in my off hand but I actually disagree with you on those frames. I had the duel g 330 and the green 97HD and they felt very good on my off hand (though nothing is quite as sweet as the box beam on my pro staff 85 of course).

For me the worst is the Pure Aero. I remember back in high school (it was still the Aero Pro Drive) we had 7 or 8 out of the starting 12 using it, so I tried one out and HATED it. I've tried multiple versions since and they feel absolutely awful in my off hand. The Yonex Vcore Pro/Percept racquets though I think feel pretty good, just not as sweet as a box beam.

You couldn’t be more spot on when it comes to the Aeros (or even Ezones) but for some reason the Vcore Tour F 97 feels great (rounded V shaped throat) but the tight 16x21 is extremely unforgiving & unique, just like its paint job.

Ended up selling my dual G 310, even with a metric tone of lead in the hoop it felt like a fly swatter (a very plush one at that) & for another irrational reason...shared holes aren’t thing, they look strange lol

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the shared holes in them either. Kinda like O-ports; yeah, I can deal with them and not have many real issues, but they're still a little annoying.

Spin grommets. Could be purely my perception but I do feel that racquets with spin grommets makes the ball trajectory less predicable, especially on my OHBH down the line.

Big agree! I’ve got both 16m & 18m TF40’s (that have big spin grommets) and I much prefer the tighter one for similar reasons.

With the 16m, (unless freshly strung) I lose track of the ball on the stringbed with all that movement & lose confidence to aim small.

The 18m really suits the bigger grommets, they allow the racquet to “breathe” making it less board, aiding with spin & adding to the magic of the TF40

Paintjob. If I don't like the look, I won't use it. I settled on a racket in high school (Pure Control Zylon) purely on the basis of performance. Coaches and my dad remarked that it suited my game. Tried to ignore the PJ and focus on my game which was going well at the time. Back of my mind, was itching to switch. Lo and behold, my senior year the buttcap of one of them gave out (only had 2 of them) and I did not hesitate to swap to the regular Pure Control (2003 version) without a demo. It's not like I played horrifically with it but switching to something 20+ grams heavier and much more headlight during the middle of a season was simply a stupid idea. The cherry on top of this cake was I tore my rotator cuff (full bed of Pro Hurricane at 60 lbs, since I ran out of XCel which was my usual mains) right after graduating so I only had a couple months with the new sticks before going on a 2 year hiatus.

I also wanted to mention strings bc I can't stand black strings. They remind me of cheapo syn gut that came with prestrung rackets.
