Is a like new Gamma X-ELS electronic stringing machine worth $1000?

I saw it's going for $1400 brand new but can possibly get it for $1000 for a local pick up. Is this a good deal considering it has only been used a tiny bit?

Images would help. Depends on condition and storage if all the parts are there. If you decide to buy, bring a frame and strings with you to make sure everything works.

Looks almost brand new. How many frames is barely used? IMO, less than 20 frames. Ask seller about it and about demo to make sure it works. $1K is reasonable to me if I really needed a new machine. If I were not in a hurry, I would offer maybe $900. Don't worry about manual. The PDF is online at Gamma Sports under the machine. If the machine is new enough, ask Gamma if they could transfer remaining warranty to you.

@TejP,

Now that you've linked a photo of the actual machine in question (BTW, which is the current, most updated version)...

Yes, it is a good deal.
Even if the owner has misplaced the remaining "odds & ends" (i.e. the additional pads for the 12/6 billiards, the extra pads for the shoulder supports, & the badminton adapters for each of the 4 shoulder supports) - all of that stuff can be purchased, if necessary, from Gamma.

Also, keep in mind that the $1399 retail price would come to even more after tax and/or shipping.
So, $1000 local pick-up is a good deal.

Hint: once you're there at his/her place, follow the suggestion by @esgee48 and offer $900 (but have the $1000 with you, in the event that the seller balks at your $900 offer).
See what I wrote here...
and...

Note: I don't believe that the X-ELS comes with a starting clamp included. However, the seller may have previously bought one.
If that's the case, try to get the starting clamp too (even if you have to pay a little extra [$35, or less] in order to get it).

I've had a Progression II ELS for at least 8 years and haven't had even a hiccup of trouble with it. Has it surpassed my expectations? Yes.

That looks like a decent deal you've found and those machines aren't routinely available 2nd hand in great condition. I'd say grab it.

Quit trying to nickle and dime this thing, buy it and be happy for saving 3-400 bucks. Or see if you can p..s off this fair seller trying to low ball for more free stuff and not get this good deal.
but.. the thing is - you don't get if you don't ask. the seller should understand the nature of selling, and some sort haggling...
all the best to OP and look forward to your result/review.

I'd "one up" the naysayers and offer $800. But yes I'd bring the $1000. (lots of folks will meet you half way = $900)

Anyone that doesn't "dicker" on a used product is almost always gonna pay too much.

The machine looks worth whatever you can get it for.

I would agree with all you "hagglers" if OP is buying the machine here:

Here, https://ibb.co/7SqffJd

person is willing to let me pick it up for $1000
It sounds like to me you already talked him down to $1000. if that’s true I would not try to talk him down more.

I liked it when I had one for about 30 days, but ultimately returned it because of the foot print, flying with it was quite daunting in disassembling and reassembling every few days or week. It works well enough and is accurate, as are most machines. Since you already have a pro stringer, I assume you are looking for something more fixed? The quality of string job is the same, it's really about knowing the machine and knowing what you want.

depends
imagine you sell something, and a buyer agrees to purchase that item for 1000 $, but when the buyer pops up for pick up, he / she offers you 800 $ hoping to meet in the middle at 900 $, or perhaps they offer you 900 $, hoping that you will accept it

it's of course possible that they will accept it, but would you like such attitude?

P.S.
if you would do that to me, I would refuse to sell it to you at all

Yes. Agree with if the OP have already offered a lower figure and seller has accepted. Then it’d be a bad form trying to negotiate a lower figure again, unless the item for sale isn’t as described in the advert.

Ok, i'll fold. If you already agreed to $1000 sight unseen, then you should pay the 1k.

Otherwise, I'd definitely dicker for it. You will NOT get a warranty (nor should you), but Gamma CS is very good.

Yes @Sardines, I do have the pro stringer but and looking for something more fixed, accurate, and easier to string on when I am not traveling. I ended up not getting it because one of the person's friends bought it from them.

Sorry to hear that you didn’t get the machine. Maybe the friend will sell the machine so keep in touch with them. Anytime you can get a decent machine for 30% off is a good deal. Often time sales and promotions that retailers run don’t apply to machines. Also you don’t have to pay tax/shipping as well as wait for shipping. That machine is in great shape.
