Is a new 6.1.95 coming or are they being phased out?

From what I hear, they will make a push on a feature they call Parallel Drilling which they say will enlarge the sweet spot and impart a more forgiving feel by changing how the drill pattern is done (angle of entry). They are using same feature in the Juice update

Interesting. I didn't think the 6.1 95 felt harsh so I'm curious how it can be more forgiving without adding more flex. I actually like how the current 2012-2013 models play; hopefully they didn't mess too much with it.

The diagram of parallel drilling just indicates that they are drilling the pattern in a way that does not force the strings to angle through some of the holes like previously. Instead they get a straight pass through which according to them results in a significant increase in sweet spot size and a more forgiving feel. I never thought any of the BLX 6.1's needed a more forgiving feel either. 6.1 paint scheme is also now a lot closer to the Pro Staff series.
The Pro Staff models are supposed to get "improved feel from braided graphite and kevlar" and now have a guide printed onto the PWS for positioning their pre-cut strips of tungsten tape. Basically the same setup Tecnifibre started doing on their T-Fit frames except I don't know that Wilson is going to include any of the Tungsten tape.

Oops, sorry I haven't seen them in person but after seeing better pictures they don't look so bad. I don't know about specs.

This could be bad news for those of us who like to take liberties with various string patterns. I'm thinking that a hole that is drilled parallel to the direction of the string will have a shallower entry for the string from one direction and a sharper entry from the other direction. Does this mean that each of these Wilson frames will be geared toward just one string pattern?

Oh I already have one stick coming next week :wink:. The graphics on the 2012-13 95s I'm not crazy about; but I can't deny their feel is damn near ideal for me. But I am understandably curious what, if any, improvements they've made to the 2014 before purchasing another one.
Looking forward to reading your experience.

True the cosmetics is meh. I like the first gen BLX (2010?) cosmetics better. More aggressive.

As a former Wilson 6.1 user, I thought their old designs were attractive in their simpleness. Although I don't use them anymore, it seems like their current goal is to make them as wacky as possible to appeal to who knows - the teenage girl crowd? They look like clown sticks or what the designers think are going to be fashion props. To each his own, but they're not for me. Then again, I don't use them anymore, so my opinion is irrelevant anyway.

Based on the photos, the look doesn't bother me. They appear to sort of have the look of the nCode model with zebra stripes.
I just hope the playability is good, which is my greatest concern. I like the playability of the first BLX version and the nCode. I find the current BLX is a step below those two. I didn't like the Kfactor.

Agree that the bags are very nice. They even stepped up the functionality with smaller external pockets for key, phone, wallet, etc. It appears that they really listened to the users and upgraded their equipment. Have an a 6 y/o kfactor bag that has been awesome.
Also agree that the playability has faltered a bit with their recent iterations, but it could be more mental for me than anything else. I had the old 6.1 ncodes but found the kfactor to be a bit too unforgiving/harsh and hit with the blx for about 10 minutes before deciding to stick with my old ncodes. Ultimately switched frames but thought the older 6.1 models were pretty great.
Just wish they would tone down the graphics a bit. Ugh.....
Looks like they will start shipping Oct 15th if I'm reading that correctly? Maybe the US will get them in Oct rather than Nov.

I find it curious that the string job is so misaligned in the photo, especially since it appears to be strung with Ripspin. And the stencil is well off-center.

Looks good. Pardon if I missed something but none of the pics I've seen shows this new parallel drilling feature. I see the same grommets angled in holes that still make the strings bend to parallel straighten the strings. Am I missing something?
Any chance you could chime in if the 18x20 version feels any different than the 2012-2013 model? Just a sentence or two would greatly be appreciated. Thx.
