I am a Pete fan and Roger breaking his record means nothing since Pete played in different era and was best player of his generation, he had no say in stopping Roger. Both are absolute legend and not all Pete fans dislike Fed.
As a Fedfan, this is good to hear.

The post wasn’t about you but another lister who has dedicated his account to Anti-Federerism.

How are people still debating this?

As soon as he achieved the surface and channel slam last year, the debate was already over. He's achieved more in 16 slams than Roddick did in 46.
It's a pride thing. Even if he wins 16 slams, there will only be a grudging, qualified acceptance of superiority to Roddick, stating that Alcaraz is greater by virtue of clay and slow surfaces but inferior on grass, blah blah blah etc.

At the end of the day comparing guys who played in different eras is too difficult, conjecture and just a waste of time. You can’t a compare a dude who played in the 2000s to a dude who played in the 2020’s. Too much has changed. We can only just go off what we are seeing currently and then take guesses where it would go

Why Alcaraz vs Roddick...not sure i see the connection, it seems a very random comparison. However, eras aside which is a fair point, here it is a quite clear cut...

The thread is created back in july 2023 and the issue seems to be some Federer fans who are hell bent on defending Roddick even today. Even in july 2023 it was close to clear cut.

Back then it was 2 slams to 1 and Alcaraz had twice as many weeks at #1, although far fewer titles. So while it wasn't as much a blowout as now, it was somewhat clear.

Alcaraz is now better than Roddick on all surfaces.

Agreed

This doesn't mean Alcaraz would have defeated peak Federer, he would not have, but yes Alcaraz is better than Roddick was in 03-07, so indeed Alcaraz is above Roddick..

Case closed Sherlock @Holmes

1 slam vs 6 slam . How it is even possible to compare roddick with alcaraz.
For my liking alcaraz now enters ATG ladder.
Likes of becker wilander ivan agassi will be his next competition

He would have won a match here and there vs Federer, even if the Swiss would win more. But he wouldn't lose 10 in a row like Roddick.

Alcaraz does everything better than Roddick outside the serve. Even when Roddick had his old forehand, it wasn't as good as we saw in this tournament from Alcaraz. And now his serve has improved drastically, even if it is clearly not on Roddick's level and never will be.
