Is anyone else really annoyed about the new PS 97 paintjob, or is it just me?

Do you like the new Pro Staff 97 paint job?

As someone who has spent a long time searching for the "perfect" racket, I finally found the one for me, which ended up being the Pro Staff 97 with a leather grip. I thought the current paintjob for the last two years was pretty good, and with all the hype about the black out design on the RF97, I was really hoping it would be the same for the whole line as it is now. After looking at the detailed pictures on TW of the PS97, I can't help but really really irritated because they didn't make it all black like the RF97 but the LS version is? Also, I think I would have been more okay with it if they chose a different shade of red, maybe a more royal, darker, blood red to match the new buttcap, but it just looks like a cheap, shallow red seen on a plastic toy. I don't know, is it just me, or is anyone else bothered by this as much as me too? I really hope they can change the PS97 paint job next year to match the RF because I'm definitely not interested in this new one.. :/

At the end of the day, it's just paint. I do think the matte finish is identical in terms of the compound used. I really wish Wilson would have put some red/white touches on the RF97A. It's a little dull for my taste

I don't see what you're complaining about. Even with the bright red the graphic is still understated. Dark red would make the racquet disappear. And otherwise it's your perfect racquet. You should be overjoyed that you found what works for you rather than trying to find something wrong with it.

Wilson's logic was "Let's make the jr racquets look the same as Roger's so the lil guys can feel they are using Roger's racquet, even if it is nothing like Roger's".

Why not just paint the entire line the same and have the wilson logo be silver/white for the non Autographs and keep the balck on the RF97A?

The most logical thing I can think of is that it is truly going to stand out on tour with roger being the only one using the autograph and everybody else using the black/red pjs. Which sounds like that was the idea from the beggining instead of the "make jrs feel like Roger" bee ess

To everyone commenting on and who plans on commenting something along the lines of... it's just a paintjob, get over it, be happy you with the racket, etc. -- I honestly don't care that much about it. I'm going to buy more of current stock once it goes on sale no questions about it and no complaints about the racket's playability either. I like it period and I'm gonna keep using it. I'm just a bit bothered and boggled that they would give the PS97 such a different, cheap-looking paint job when they have kept the PJs for all other PS the same for that generation before this. It just doesn't make sense.

Either way, my main goal of making this post was just see what the general consensus is for everyone else. You don't have to waste your time replying or mocking my post if you don't like what I said. Just answer the poll (or not) and go spend your time elsewhere. To you maybe functionality trumps everything, but to some people like me, I like to connect with my personal belongings in both aesthetics and functionality.

I like the paintjob of the new PS97. A little red to brighten things up but not too much, like the current one.

It just looks too bland.

Some contrast with a bit of red or yellow would be much better i think.

I think being all black kinda makes the racquet head looks a bit smaller than it is. Looks a bit like a 95sqin.

I spoke with one of the Wilson reps and they explained the reason was they wanted Fed to be the only one on tour playing with the blacked out frame. Everyone else using a pro staff will use the red and black paint job of the PS97 and PS97s. No tour players will use the PS97LS so they made that one all black as well.

Their response doesn't really make sense. Sounds a bit like a cop out.

If they only wanted Federer to use the all black PJ, then just make the RF97 in black. No other racquet in the range should have the same PJ, regardless.

Just my opinion, but it's a shame about the latest PJ's on what is essentially their 'Prestige' line. They got it so right with the 100 year anniversary PS95 and the FST line.

Like I say to my kids.....I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed.

I like the previous paint job. I don't like this one. As stated above.. it looks like a cheap plastic toy. But since it's the same frame with a different paint job just don't switch to it. I'm sticking with the previous version.

I just think it is a step backward look wise. The old design looked better to me.

If I liked the prostaff I'd just stock up on the old version once they get discounted.

All of the new frames look much better in person. The PS97 in particular looks cool with the contrasting glossy red.
