Is David Ferrer a Hope for all under 6 foot men and some College players ?

Considered a short guy on tour, Ferrer is one of the BEST players and made the top 8. What makes him so good in the Era of Men's tennis where if you are not 6'2" and over and have monster serves and other weapons, you have no chance at top 30 tennis ???
Does he give hope to those Juniors that are undersized, and all those college players with No special weapons ??

What makes him so special ? Similar type of player like Somdev Devvarman can't even stay in top 100 consistantly. Speedy, fairly good forehand doesn't cut it anymore on the tour.
and Yet, here he is,,,,,Ferrer, top 10 in ATP ???????????

How about davydenko? He's small and he's beaten every great player

Yes but Davy has some weapons and he takes the ball as it bounces, almost. Davy has pretty powerful heavy forehand. and he can pump up the MPH on the serve when he needs it.
and Davy's backhand is a Weapon. He can hurt guys with that shot.

Yes I think he does give hope that even if you don't have a great serve and having a height of 5'7 to 5'11...that you can with Superb Baselineing! Also gives hope that when I have kids that they can play good tennis when they are at an average height!

If you are under 6 foot you can forget about sports.

That is, unless you have sonny liston's reach, which you don't. You simply have lower reach, which gives you disadvantage.

Wow, you are a genius! When you gonna post a video of that big forehand of yours?

Nice wording, classy poster.

I guess Ferru didn't read your memo.

GROAT poster right here. Classic stuff.

Most running backs are around 5'10 to 5'11 with many at 5'9....yet they are the most crucial players in the NFL outside of QBs.

I believe Ferrer is listed at 5'9". I know that there was a basketball player back in the '80's named "Spud" Webb-5'7"-who could dunk a ball as well as the big guys, and a 5'3" (yes, that's right) player named "Muggsy" Bogues. Anyway, they give the rest of us hope!:)

He does have weapons.

1. He moves incredibly well and is crazy fast
2. He is one of the mentally strongest players on tour week to week
3. He has very good stamina, I have never once seen him appear to be tired during a match
4. He is incredibly consistent, especially from the baseline.

Those are weapons.

Except the speed part,,,i think those are mainly considered intangibles. Not really a true weapon. weapon is roddick's serve, federer forehand, LLodrya's volleys, and Novak's bounce bounce bounce til your opponent falls asleep before he serves.

for every midget in pro sports, i'll show you 50 above 6 foot.

get real

Yeah but you gotta admit, at a ratio of 50:1, that's a lot of midgets in professional sports. Personally, I'm surprised anyone with dwarfism can make it in pro athletics.

You guys think Ferrer and davydenko are really 5'10" like they say? Michael Russell is listed as 5'8", they all seem a little shorter than they are listed. I realize it could be because of comparing them with the taller players, but they just seem to have "short guy builds." I don't think the people I know in real life that are 5'10" look that short.

Yes...I think they are "like they say". They may look small on tv ... but that's because they stand next to guys like Tsonga.
I've stood next to Tsonga...I'm 1.83 m (6' ?!?) and about 73-74 kg's, and I looked like a midget next to him. You would say 5 cm is not that much...but it is a significant difference...especially with the way he's built.
A guy like Pioline or Federer or Edberg might not look too big on TV because they have a "tennis body type"...but stand next to them and you soon realize they look anything BUT "common/average" in real life.

You was there in that strip club after the Romania v France Davis Cup tie?

HA HA, not that time, and it was not a strip club (I've been there other times). The foreign media might have described it as one though to "spice things up".
During the day matches, me and my buddy received some invitations from a couple of "hostesses" to stay for later on, but we couldn't. He's married :)twisted:) and we had to return to our own city anyway :).
Regardless, it's just a "regular club"...but they got a bit carried away I guess (drunk maybe?). If it would have been you or me up there shirtless, the bodyguards would have probably taken us down and "politely" told us to get our clothes back on or get out. Given who they were, they were probably given more than a bit of "wiggle room" with the rules.

good one.
but then somebody must have photoshopped the pictures... because she surely didn't look 73-74 kg ! :p

The best Photoshop artist in the world couldn't get me to look like those dancers...trust me...I don't have the appropriate "features".
