Still better at Wimbledon and UO.
But Djokovic is greater than Sampras in 2 out of 3 surfaces.

I'm not arguing that Sampras is greater than either of them overall. Djokovic is still in a similar place as Sampras, but gets the nod now for sure. He's not miles ahead of him though, and he's not as great as Nadal. He has more work to do first. Then Sampras was better than Nadal at WIM, AO and USO. Does it means he was better than Nadal?
AO and UO aren't the same. But Djokovic is greater than Sampras in 2 out of 3 surfaces.
AO and UO aren't the same.
Really? I didn't know thatYes they are. Both tournaments are played on hard courts.
Really? I didn't know that![]()
I’d say he’s VERY close to Rafa. More dominant tour player, more consistent on all surfaces, multiple WTFs, NO gaps in his resume.Djok now firmly above Pete and honestly, and I know I'm going to get heat for this, if he wins RG this year I think we need to talk about how he measures up to Rafa too.
Great cherry picking.I’d say he’s VERY close to Rafa. More dominant tour player, more consistent on all surfaces, multiple WTFs, NO gaps in his resume.
My top 3 now:
1. Roger
2. Nadal/Djokovic (tie)
Nole makes up for the two slam gap in his sheer domination over his peers, the Nole slam, WTF. 40-18 against Rafa and Roger since 2011! Let’s also not overlook the fact that he’s now on another consecutive slam streak and aiming for a second Nole slam!
Sampras wouldn’t have been close to 14 slams if he’d have been battling Fed on HCs/grass as Nole has.Sampras is still ahead in year end's number one and number of weeks as such. He dominated the tour for longer and during his prime years no one pushed him aside. That's domination. He was not as complete a player as Novak is on all surfaces, but he was the undisputable leader of his generation (and he retired relatively young after winning the US Open). That never happened in Djokovic's case. He shared his dominance with Federer, Nadal and even Murray.
And of course, it's not Sampras's fault that he didn't have to face players of that calibre, you can only beat the player that happens to be across the net in that particular period of time.
PETE would have beaten Fraud on grass in the same circumstances as Novak but maybe 3/3 instead of 2/3.Sampras wouldn’t have been close to 14 slams if he’d have been battling Fed on HCs/grass as Nole has.
You are right to call it cherry picking but the numbers are still significant. Djokovic has been unbelievable since 2011. If he had never met Pepe Imaz he may have the slam record already.Great cherry picking.
Nah, Pepe was there since 2012 to help Novak win more majors. You are right to call it cherry picking but the numbers are still significant. Djokovic has been unbelievable since 2011. If he had never met Pepe Imaz he may have the slam record already.
HmmNo. Absolutely NOT.

I wonder what the FedFans who believed themselves to be the final arbiters of these discussions will do when Federer has been surpassed in slams by Nadal and Novak and run down in his seemingly insurmountable weeks at #1 by Novak.

Most of them will dissapear. The majority of them already are starting to.
The Former Pro Players section is gonna get a lot nastier once the Big 3 are gone but their fanboys are still around. I feel bad for those old fogeys. They don’t know what’s coming. Most of them will dissapear. The majority of them already are starting to.
My bigger question is what the heck will happen to this place when the Big 3 and Serena retire and there are no more current GOAT discussions or either "Serena is great, Serena sucks" discussions. Will anyone still even post here?
Sampras was better on grass but no FO.....
Do you believe the only way to view this forumFans of a certain player are notorious for disappearing when he isn't winning, and it's not Federer fans. And how would you know that a majority of Federer fans are disappearing if you just joined TTW in January?
