Is Djokovic Getting Better

In 2025 he reached SF of all Grandslams, but looked very tired in each one of them

However in 2026 He is looking fresh even if he plays 5 hours epics or 5 setters in Grandslams!

Is he managing his Grandslams Perfectly?

Not to mention he already reached Final of one and Semi Finals in wimbledon!

This is Novak one last attempt for winning slam.
He will not show the fatigue outside but 5 setters in this age can really take toll

So wrong. Just compare Alex De Minaur to Ivan Ljubicic, who was world no 5 in 2006. I think the level of tennis now is much much higher.
Exactly we can't compare the rest of the field, it is about Djokovic what field was in 2025, it is in 2026, he had already beaten Sinner in 2026 so, he is definitely improved

Ljubicic was even #3

Ljubicic probably couldn’t even make top 20 these days. His backhand would just get targeted again and again by these modern players. A player like Hewitt would win nothing in this era. Roddick would win nothing.

And to think just at the turn of 2020-2023, a player would have to fight through Federer Alcaraz Sinner Nadal aaaand the final boss Djokovic just to win something.

For anyone who thinks the level of tennis is dropping it’s only getting harder to get on tour and win something. You have top players playing longer, young talents all gunning for titles, desperately grinding for atp points

Ljubicic actually won a Masters title lol... in 2010 when Big 3 were winning slams!

Federer didn't play in 2020 smh... and Sinner won his first slam in 2024, so he was not yet a real ATG level competitor lol.

You also have a younger mentally feebler, consistently online generation that has grown spoiled with easy to access resources.

And why are you ignoring my other responses to your same basleess argument lol, do you always fold like a lawn chair to simple logic?

Lol nothing is getting better. The level of depth behind Sinner and Raz is abysmal which you can see in what happens once both of them are out. Out of a sudden guys like Cobolli or Fery are reaching the later stages of slams and eternal choker Zverev is having his best year of his career at age 29. Put Raz out already at the AO and Zverev would have realistic chances to aim for CYGS as we speak lol.

Players ranked 1 to 4 are playing Delpo/Tsonga/Berdych/Ferrer level (tops) nowadays.
Don't fool yourselves. Djokovic is not a shadow of what he was and deep inside he knows and laughs that the field is allowing him compete as equals.

You have yet to make a single point worth responding too. You just make some stuff up and cry about weak eras when it’s quite clear that year after year the level of tennis has gone up.

2010-2020 is much much stronger than 2000-2010, and 2020-2030 isn’t done yet, but it looks to be even stronger.

And if you really want to compare eras you will need to check the top 100 each year, and compare each individual’s level, in addition to examining their actual performance in tournaments that year

He has nothing to lose. If he wins, he is “the greatest”. If he lose “he is the greatest”.

It’s the young guns that are in immense pressure everytime they face him. They basically get no credit. Oh you beat Djokovic? Well he is “old”.

That’s not how I view it, Djokovic has lost 3 slam finals to Alcaraz now, 2023 Wimbledon Djokovic was playing at an extremely high level. Djokovic said it himself, that Alcaraz is unique, a player unlike any he’s faced before. not at all like Federer or Nadal but a complete player much more like Djokovic himself.

If there’s a future transfer of the GOAT title, Alcaraz is a potential candidate.

Most people in this forum are so nostalgic about the past they don’t see change happening right before their eyes.

I’m under no illusion that the era Djokovic dominated will always remain the highest level of tennis we’ve ever seen, there are years and years ahead, and more new talents will appear to make history.

One thing about the internet is that everything is here forever, so come back in about 20 years and read my posts again

prize money adjusted for inflation:

2025 De Minaur $5,404,792.23
2006 Ljubicic $2,772,635.82

The #7 of 2025 earned much more than the #5 of 2006.

Ljubicic was a smart player and had a serve that Demon could only dream of having.

Is Djokovic Getting Better

He is getting smarter but losing some footwork. So, he may be as good as before (not as good as 2013-2014) but slightly different.
Smarter, for sure. His serve and net game are as good or better than they ever were. His great serving is probably the main reason he is still doing so well today.

He won IW beating Djokovic and Nadal. Good luck to De Minaur accomplishing that.
A player like Hewitt would win nothing in this era. Roddick would win nothing.
Sure. Medvedev, Zverev and Thiem won slams, but Hewitt and Roddick would win nothing.

I’ve seen tougher. Players in the 2000’s had to beat Sampras, Agassi, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic just to win something

Federer while coming up in the 90s had to play McEnroe, Peak Sampras, Peak Lendl, Chang, Peak Agassi, Peak Wilander, Peak Becker all in a row to win anything, can you imagine ?

Oh be real. Your only evidence is to say "you're wrong" I quote results and accomplishments of players. You haven't produced a single reputable statistic. In fact you didn't even know that Sinner won his first slam in 2024 and not 2023, and that Fed wasn't on tour in 2020 lol.

I will agree that 2000-2009 was weaker than 2010-2020 (although 2016-2020 was pretty weak) but 2020-2030 cannot be strong when you have the best players in the world (top 10 players) losing to qualifiers LMAO in first rounds! You cannot explain in any reasonable argument that Ben Shelton loses 1st round in best slam! Or that Arthur Fils, Jakub Mensik, Learner Tien all ages 22 and below lose to Grigor Dimitrov, Matteo Berrettini, and Marton Fucsovics, all ages 30 and up! How's that? Name one evidence and you might be able to rebutt lol.
And if you really want to compare eras you will need to check the top 100 each year, and compare each individual’s level, in addition to examining their actual performance in tournaments that year
Yeah that's sort of what I'm doing lol? Alex De Minaur consistent rank 5-10 has never made a slam semifinal, currently 22-62 against top 10 h2h? Ben Shelton loses round 1 at his favorite slam? Hell, not just the top 10 but the lower ranked players are producing bum results even for their standards.

That’s not how I view it either. I see alcaraz more like a Federer than a djokodal though. But I do realize that there are aspects of his game that djokodal also possess.

I see alcaraz and Sinner as equally dominating in their era as the big 3 in their’s.

other consistent 90s players were Courier, Rafter, Ivanisevic, Kafelnikov, Rios, Guga, Rudzeksi, ...

Hate to break it to ya, but 2006 was 20 years ago. Pretty sure that counts as a long time ago now.

I hate to break it to you but Ivan Ljubicic is a better tennis player than Alex De Minaur. Higher ranking, made a Grand Slam semi final, won a masters 1000 while playing in a stronger field. Beat Nadal and Djokovic on hard courts at Indian Wells in 2010.

Nah, Moya #1, Ferrero #1, Roddick #1 way way weaker
Here's the mens top ten in 2005. Hard to argue that this isn't stronger than anything we've seen in the 2020's..

  • Roger Federer (Switzerland)
  • Rafael Nadal (Spain)
  • Andy Roddick (USA)
  • Lleyton Hewitt (Australia)
  • Nikolay Davydenko (Russia)
  • David Nalbandian (Argentina)
  • Andre Agassi (USA)
  • Guillermo Coria (Argentina)
  • Ivan Ljubičić (Croatia)
  • Gastón Gaudio (Argentina)

I think if you follow Djokovic fan logic he is as he’s had more time to practice, but the game simply evolves.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the post that I responded to, the poster claims that right now is the weakest era ever in history and I immediately proved that that was 100% incorrect.

Ljubicic, Hewitt and Rodick would be better players than in 2000s if they primed in this era.

In your dreams, Hewitt was always injured and only had the success he did because trash players like Moya and Ferrero were #1 before he took over, Roddick had a trash backhand begging to be dismantled, zero net game, and only had three years finishing in top 5, Ljubicic finished one year top 5 is such a joke.

Damn, it's like that they were so weak - you and me could beat them
