Is Emma's win a bigger story than a potential Novak's CYGS?

It's impossible to know the answer now.
It can be bigger than Novak's calendar slam if she ends up being the new Steffi Serena dominant player of a new age.

No.

There are always multiple story lines and narratives at every slam. Emma's win was certainly a big story but it will be forgotten after the tournament is over. Let's be real here. Additionally, someone new on the WTA seemingly always wins a slam. Who won RG again?

Whether this is a big story depends on her career trajectory. If she can’t back it up, nobody will care in 2 yrs.

But for now, it’s a big deal.

Actually, if it turns out that she never gets two balls in a row in the court for the rest of what would be a short career, this would be even more magical. If she wins 25 slams, this will just be one of 25.

No man has ever won 21 slams before, no, but it can still happen again. A record is being broken, but it'd be the third time in a little over 20 years that's happened. The grand slam has been done before.

No qualifier ever won a slam. She will always be the first. She will always be the answer to who was the first, or until someone else does it she'll always be the answer to what is the best a qualifier has ever done?

I don't know what is a bigger story, I guess that depends where you are:-DThe final tonight got a last minute deal done to get it on free to air TV here, which is unreal. In Serbia I'm thinking it might just edge Novak's way. But in terms of historical significance this is at least as big a deal. Just because it's the women people will try and downplay it, but throw in the quallies, and she played about as much tennis as a man has to do to win a slam.

CYGS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1 slam by a 18 year old

A CYGS will NOT be done in the next 100 years. 18 yr old girls can and win slams.

How is this even comparable. Novak's achievement is FAR FAR bigger. It's bought tennis into main spotlight.

No. And to respond to the comments that the CYGS has been done before, yes it has, but no man has ever won a CYGS on hardcourt, clay and grass. So Djokovic is still trying to do something that has never been done before.

Let me know the next time we will see someone not only go for the CYGS, but the all time slam record in the same match. It will NEVER happen again.

Great story. But not even close. CYGS is one in a 50 years event. Both will be mentioned at every major from now on though (if the CYGS happens, which I think it will).

It won’t. It’s the biggest achievement in tennis. But it won’t get the publicity that Emma’s win tonight gets. Emma’s story is greater.

CYGS. what CYGS? Go Emma! I was impressed with Leylah. Such a great personality. Women's tennis will be better than men's tennis next few years.

"These stories"?
Can you name some of them?
Um pretty much every story? That's my point. It's in the news cycle for 1 or 2 days maximum, everyone on social media is talking about it for about 12-24 hours, then people quickly forget and move on with their lives. Media outlets need these stories in order to get clicks on their webpages.
