Roger Federer has an uncanny ability to keep the match close (or even win) when he is actually getting significantly outplayed. Today's final was an example. He had no business winning the first set. Nole was going deep in all his service games while Roger could barely string 2 return points together. Yet he somehow managed to steal the set in a tiebreak despite winning less total points. Same with the 4th set. Nole was all over him and got to SP, but Roger dug deep, pulled out a few ridiculously clutch serves and again stole the set. Same with the AO 2013 SF against Murray. Fed was getting outplayed in every area of the game. He had absolutely no business taking that match to 5. Yet some clutch shotmaking and tiebreak play let him steal 2 sets. Another example is the 2011 USO semi against Nole. There was no way he should have won the first set of that match, yet he did. He has a ridiculous ability to hang in there with some clutch serves and then unleashing some ridiculous shotmaking to steal a set he should have lost. Is he the best on tour at this? Or does someone else do it better?
