haven't been watching much, but was wondering if the NY'ers were giving gonzalez crap for not fessing up at the Olympics against blake.
Have you ever met a Philadelphia Eagles fan? That's not just a US crowd, that's a NYC crowd which is the worst crowd in the world. We're infamous for getting on pro athletes' cases. If you've never met a real New Yorker, we're even worse than our reputation. Before anyone goes off about how they met nice people in New York, I was referring to true New Yorkers. There's a big difference between a real New Yorker and a transplanted New Yorker.
Plus, let's not forget the fact that by the rules, he did nothing wrong. It is not his responsibility to call a touch against himself. It is the chair umpire's responsibility. It also is not the easiest call to make. If it just ticked and you can make it out in the slow motion, you can't always see it from the chair's angle, and with crowd noise, you certainly can't hear it.^^^ I might not go so far as to call it pathetic, but since we don't really know exactly what happened and exactly what gonzo knew and when he knew it ~~ I for one am not gonna condemn the man for something that uncertain.
He's the Oly silver medalist, so I'll take him at that.
