Grass tourneys should be respected. It used to be that way, but now guys like djoker and Rafa don't even play them.

Nonsense idiots may get salty as Federer won it 10 times. It has a stronger field than queens for past decades.

Federer didn't beat a top 10 player there for like 15 years. Lol. Let's not get carried away.
Dumb Zverev,Goffin,Raonic,berdych,Hewitt,Hass,
Tsonga, kiefer were all top 10 players when he beat him. First go and compare the draws with queens for past decades and then come to conclusion

For Nole fans only belgrade is the real slam :-D :-D

Lol. No they weren't. Check the stats. Come on now. Queens is the stronger grass tournament. More of the top guys play that one.

It is the real Slam, not Cincy. :)

Number of titles won by beating top 10 ranked opponents in the final at Halle + Queens combined

01. Hewitt - 3 ( all 3 queens)
02. Becker - 2 (both queens)
03. Connors - 2 (both queens)
04. Tommy Haas - 2 (Halle)
05. Sampras - 1 (Queens)

Federer - 0
Murray - 0
Roddick - 0

So by and large, Halle+Queens are both useless in every way!

Except murray when he was at top no one plays there. When feliciano lopez wins queens at 37 you can imagine how joke of a draw it has.

Even This year Medvedev,Rublev,FAA,Hurkacz choose halle over queens

It's a completely different kind of grass court. It's like comparing the Australian Open in the 80s to Wimbledon in the 80s. Just because you can win one doesn't mean you're particularly equipped to win the other.

All you have to do is look at the entry lists and compare. I like the look of Halle more and like their stadium (plus they have a roof), but it's not the one that attracts more of the top players.

Why do you think the Russians Medvedev and Rublev chose that one this year?

Very aptly pointed out..except Murray who among the queens have won wimbledon or have performed well. Winning an event in best of 3 doesn't guarantees you to win a slam in best of 5.

Hurkcaz lost today narrowly in a nail biting match but few weeks ago he outclassed Medvedev (No 1 player)

Well only dumb would comment without seeing the draw. When the greatest grass court player chooses it ...it is ought to be the best.

Nadal won RG 14 times in last 17 years does that make RG field weak ??

Djokovic won AO 8 times in past 12 years attempts does that make the AO field weak ??

Sorry? Did you just compare the fields at RG and the AO to Halle?

You're joking, right?

Just because one great player choses it doesn't make it the best. Look at a year like 2018. Compare the entry lists. Which was better?

All the top players played RG and AO so of course not. Also, I didn't say the Halle field was weak.

Over all if you compare last decade Halle has a better draw. At least it had 3-4 top 10 players. The only attraction in queens was murray..once he went down hill the competition was pretty poor.

Sorry but don't agree because the better grass players play Queens. In 2018, for example, both Wimbledon finalists played it plus Cilic. Then you have years like 2013, 2015, 2017, etc.

Halle has always been the mickeymouse warm up event federer used for practice. Queens is the premier grass tournament pre Wimbledon

His big problem is going to be Alcaraz, as I predicted. As long as he is in the draw, problems are there for Novak.
Difficult to predict Alcaraz' grass level, given his unexperience on the surface. He may end up being tougher than anything Nadal has in his draw, but yet again he is the only genuine threat I see in Novak's draw. If Alcaraz loses before the QF, Djokovic will reach the WB final extremely fresh (unless Dimitrov has some kind of miraculous last hurrah and can still give a fight in the SF).

Why doesn't ATP upgrade Halle and Queens to Masters status on Grass?
It would encourage all the top players to play that, right?
Blame the ATP for Halle being a joke of a tournament.

Thank Federer for adding some sanctity to the draw, without him what future would Halle have? It is a tournament that is less than 3 decades old with no prestige yet, ATP should do more for Grass if it doesn't want grass court Tennis to die.

It wouldn't hurt to make the grass season a couple of weeks longer, and make one of them a Masters. Maybe shift the calendar a bit.

The one thing I feel that cannot be denied is his pedigree, he looks like a born champion in waiting and he doesn't really blink when going in for the kill. This one opponent could be all it takes to stop Djokovic, while Nadal could go down to death from a thousand cuts. Both have their own issues, but in a direct one on one match, this match between Djokovic and Alcaraz could have great implications on this tournament.

Hewitt beat Federer in the 2010 Halle final. Henman was ranked 11 in the world when Hewitt beat him in the 2001 Queen's Club final.

:p

Nadal played but lost to guys like brown in halle
Sure, a few days after winning RG, when there wasn't a bye week between those tournaments.
Even Federer, when he won RG 2009, did not dare to play Halle, knowing the brutal effort that winning the French Open means.
But, of course, many here do not remember the context to analyze things.
:censored:

The only top 10 player Federer beat at Halle was 5th-ranked Safin in the 2005 final. He faced a 10th-ranked Rafter in the 2001 QF, but lost in 3 sets.

He does have 5 wins against players ranked 11-15: Goffin, Haas, Zverev, Nishikori, and Berdych

Why only the final? Roddick beat Hewitt and Agassi to win 2 of his Queens titles. And Grosjean was also a top 10 grasscourter in 2003-2005.

Federer beat Safin in 2005, a top 10 player.
