Is Holger Rune part of the new big 3 in tennis, or should we consider others like Jack Draper and Lorenzo Musetti?

Too soon to say anything, if Djokovic says he is not going there might be not much cake to make someone big something for a while.

"Honey, I shrunk the Big Three."
4 career titles, a 60 percent winning percentage, never past the quarters in a slam.
Barely better than journeyman credentials.

(.......and that mother!)

I don't think he will be dominant like big anything. His forehand needs to be far more attacking. Stop slicing the fh like Andy Murray.

I think he can play big man tennis like Boris was making him play or he can play even a better baseliner tennis than Andy Murray. His problem may be Andy was far more fitter at this stage of their careers. Maybe Andy would cramp as well but he could play long baseline rallies for entire day.

Are you talking about Rune? Rune's made 3 quarters of slams, and he's 21! 4 titles sure, but that includes one masters 1000 against Djokovic on a hard court! And there's also his 2nd place in Monte Carlo and Rome 23

A little early don’t you think ? He is currently in the big 30 for sure. Hope he progresses further.

He's currently in the top 15, and has been top ten for a year. In his young career he's already reached nitto atp finals. I know he's not alcaraz or sinner level but still quite good

Yeah, a guy who was #4 in the world at 19 is a "journeyman." The sheer idiocy is staggering.

Rune lacks the right attitude required to win Slams. He is a brat who cannot be coached to a slam. He will make millions of dollars like Stefanos and Zverev have, I think that will suffice for him....but he won't win any Slam.

To suggest Rune will be anything more than a mug who never wins a slam like the rest of the next next gen is false.
None of the dreary naysayers on this thread have ever even watched a Rune match but weigh in anyway. How about this gem: "Rune needs to stop slicing his FH like Murray." (!???)

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

I have watched a Rune match, multiple. I didn’t say the quote about Rune I just am of the belief that like the other next next generation not named Alcaraz or Sinner that he will fade into obscurity, akin to a Nishikori or others. He’s too much of a hot head and inconsistent to get anywhere beyond QF’s.

Rune did reach top 8 legit by age 20. He beat 4 top 10 players to win masters.

I think he is having pretty bad season but he is not Nishikori level player. He has enough firepower even on serve to win grand slams.

You never know if others will come, but for now Sinner seems dominant, and Alcaraz when he's playing well. Rune will never be that good. Maybe someone like Fonseca, Fils, or Mussetti.

WHO?? Do I have to create one of these threads again?? When will you learn?? Fonseca is on a different league...

Musetti can't even win clay challengers. He peaked early like Rune. Medjedovic will probably be better than Fils because of his serve and smoother technique.

Big 2 are alcaraz and Sinner. Both holding a slam and 1/2 masters right now.

Not sure if there is a 3rd guy even in the vicinity.
I would not define Alcaraz and Sinner as being the Big 2. They are simply the best players of a rather weak generation.

No. There will only be one Big 3 and it ended in 2022 when Roger Federer retired.

Disagree.
Sinner is playing like big 3 at age 22. Alcaraz is still young but has won 2 slams at age 19 and 20.

Were the Big 3 being owned by 36 year old Andre Agassi at the age of 22?

The last time that I checked, Roger Federer stopped losing to Agassi after Miami 2002 (he would have been 20 at the time and Andre was only 31.) Rafa never lost to him.

Andre Agassi is overhyped in his late 30s.
Novak movement is far superior to Andre Agassi at age 36.

That's your answer.
36 is still 36. Was Rod Laver winning the calendar year grand slam at the age of 36? No, of course not. He had Borg and Connors there who made sure that wouldn't happen.

36 is not 36

Nadal at 36 is worse than Djokovic at 36

Andre had full AMERICAN media hyping him at 36. He turned 36 on April 2006. The man was barely able to play full matches. it was so bad. Agassi at 34 itself was worse than Djokovic at 36. Cocaine and poor decisions might come back to haunt him in life. Those were his choices.

Tell that to Marcos Baghdatis Robby Ginepri, or James Blake.

I think you underestimate Andre Agassi during his twilight years. The man was good enough to reach the finals of the US Open, where he had a prime level Roger Federer on the ropes.

If he could do that to Roger Federer in 2005 (just one year removed from Fed's best year ever) then I'd hate to see what he would do to these Next Gen mugs.
