Is it all over for Rafa ??

what pictures you talk about ??

He was on a boat (scuba trip, thats why people joke about rafa and scuba) with like 5 other guys. They were all sitting really close to each other on the back of the boat. One guy was standing up and his crotch was like 2inches from rafa's face. In the next pic he was still there and rafa had a strange grin on his face.

Rafa is saving himself for the AO, which he wants to win because then he will have at least 2 Slams on every surface, surpassing Federer on that very crucial benchmark.
Haha! Who deemed at least 2 slams on every surface a very crucial benchmark? Doesn't really matter anyway since Nadal will not win another AO title. Maybe one more FO this year, if his knee is better by then, but that's probably it for Nadal winning more majors.

No, its not over for him.

Some of the knee jerk-reactions on these boards are priceless. From - He will be the GOAT to his career is over. There just never seems to be a middle ground. Nadal will be fine, he is being cautious not to jeopardize his chances by overplaying. He made that mistake in the fall season to get that number one ranking secure, it cost him a legitimate shot at the WTF, a title he badly wanted.

He needs to give himself the maximum time possible before playing an important event like AO, even if that means not playing any warm ups. Sometimes you just have to work with what you got. Nadal will also see if he truly ready for Melbourne, if not, he will look at the season ahead, and understand where he needs to be in peak form. Nadal is far from done.
And to everyone else:

No. He pulls this stunt every other year and every time he comes back rested and dominates the tour before he again decides to to take a few months off, tank the grass and hard court season and duck his rivals whenever the circumstances aren't overwhelmingly in his favor.
Barring 15,16 he made it to atleast one hc finals every year since 2009. No way you can say he tanks HC season, even on grass he loses in tight fought matches. A true competitor he is

Age nearly 32 seems to be injured again,It seems he will skip AO again and a long break again. Rafa had terrible 2015 and 2016 but at least he wasnt ınjured.Yes he did have great comebacks before but how long can he continue to that ??? The last time he fully recovered from injury and have great result is 2013 which he was still 27,28 years old.
He did it again in 2017 at the age of 31!

Is that display picture from the clasico? You could hear pins drop around the Bernabeu when he put them 2-0 up and virtually sealed the title in December.
Yes it is.

And it's not the first time we could hear pins around Bernabeu when Barcelona came to visit.:p

Hmmm ...I’ve never seen an athlete who’s as “injured” as Nadal always seemingly is who never even had surgery (other than for appendicitis).
"In a report in The Daily Mail, Nadal's team opened up about his use of platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP) during his knee rehabilitation. The treatment involves taking a small vial of a person's blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich cells, which carry growth factors that are believed to have a regenerative effect, and re-injecting those cells into the site of the injury to speed up recovery."

No. It's just a fact that when free of injury he dominates the tour. Injury is his biggest opponent.

You are aware that I am quoting an Elvis Presley song.

This is mine and @roger presley 's shtick. Who can quote the most Elvis songs in a thread. :)

Fact remains there were just as talented, if not more, black artists during the same time span as Elvis that didn’t get the recognition they deserved. Instead white people listened to ”black music” through Elvis.

Sure. But, that has got what exactly to do with me quoting his songs? :)

And Rafa has decided on an option. You might as well say Federer should play 2hbh because the one handed backhand is bad for his back.

Even if that's true that a 2hbh is better for his back(which I don't think so), he should never switch because he became the goat with a 1hbh.
My point is injuries are part of the sport, and Nadal has to deal with it like everyone else. Either Nadal sacrifice his legs in order to win 16 slams, or adjust his game to protect his legs but end up achieving MUCH less. I prefer the former.

Typical answer 1: Which shows how relevant clay is in the tennis world, no?

Typical answer 2: Fed is also the only man alive who won both on red and blue clay, while the so-called clay-GOAT never made even a QF on blue clay (we're talking Sampras-levels of dominance on clay here). ROFLMAO.

Choose your poison...

Tennis is much more than slam count. You are really scraping the barrel by counting final and SF appearances. What about counting coin toss wins?

Exactly this. Nadal is trying to maximize his down time to have a better chance of winning slams. The reactions here, as I see them, come mostly from Federer fans, who are genuinely concerned about Federer's slam record being surpassed, and who are hopeful Nadal is truly finished, so all these catastrophic conjectures are simply a way for them to exorcize some of that deep-seated fear.

Wise of you to leave out Performance at Slams against Top Rivals, for example. Federer is so bad in that metric. Unless you consider that to be an "intangible". :D

He did it again in 2017 at the age of 31!
Most off his problems in 2015 and 2016 were mental rather than chronic injury like knees. 2017 was MENTAL comeback and it takes 2 years after his 2014 injury problems. Most importantly what happened in 2014 wawa AO final match takes its toll on Rafa. Not trust your body isnt easy in prof sport.
