Is it just me or has Nadal been GOD MODE-DED in all four slams?

Alright just so i don't get flamed, yes this is my very first post here, but i am a long time lurker and by long i mean i've been reading these forums since about 06' ,and just to get this straight Nadal is my second favorite player (first being Federer), I am in no way trying to say anything bad about him, I thoroughly believe he is the most exciting player to watch.

LOL anyways as i was just thinking about it thennnn, I've realized Rafa has been beating in all four slams by a player not ranked in the top 10, nor relatively known (at the time).

So let me begin~

GOD MODE Tsonga>Nadal Australian open 2008 (Tsonga wasn't really know then)

GOD MODE Soderling>Nadal French Open 2009 (Soderling beasted by Nadal in the previous clay court Tournament)

GOD MODE Del Potro>Nadal US Open 2009 (Yes God moded)

GOD MODE Rosol>Nadal Wimbledon 2012 (Rosol looking like he could kill an Elephant with his bare hands.. not serious but he has amazing)

And just for funs sake, I'll list some times where Federer and Djokovic were almost GOD MODED themselves

Federer vs Tipsarevic 2008 Australian Open (Bit of a strange match but you can't deny Janko played exceptionally well)

Federer vs Falla Wimbledon 2011? was it?

Djokovic vs Seppi French open 2012 (Seppi was probably more like 0.8 GOD MODE that day, but to Djokovics credit he came back)

Djokovic vs WAWRINKA!! Australian open 2013 I watched the whole match! and i was thinking to myself before the match at how silly peoples comments were about how Stan was mediocre and how Djokovic could beat him with one eye closed, cause I've seen Stan play amazingly well when the occasion has called for it in the past, and i just knew it'd be a thriller if Stan really stepped up, and he did and the match was more epic then i'd ever have imagined, gutted that Stan didn't win, one of the best matches i've seen in my life!

Best thread of your life. Classically funny.

Berdych god-moded both Federer and Djokovic at Wimbledon 2010. Then went back to his usual weak self in the final against Nadal.

Tsonga was god mode in AO.. But of course, this wasn't the Rafa that we would see the next few years on hard courts.

Didn't Nadal have a a torn muscle in his abdomen or something when Del Potro (Godmode-ed him?)

Rafa wasn't all that great at wimbledon either though.. Clearly with some injury issues. His movement was off (Was this the same Nadal we saw in 2008 or 2010?)

Clearly an opponent could be considered "god mode" when someone is perhaps injured and moving more slowly

Yes true, Nadal at beginning of 2008 was not the Nadal of today, Probably more like Nadal 0.7378

I'm not too sure about all the injuries Nadal's had when his lost in Grandslams but I'll take your word on that one, Del Potro did back up that win by taking out federer in 5 at the final however

Rafa's also escaped some other god mode efforts from players.

AO - Verdasco
RG - Isner
WIM - Petzschner

Federer has been god moded by

WIM - Berdych, Tsonga
RG - Nadal ( in 08 ) , Soderling

How did i forget Nadal vs Verdasco Aus Open 09' (That was an amazing match, Verdasco going toe to toe until that double fault.. )

Nadals 5 setter with Isner at RG, i didn't get to watch it but taking nadal to 5 at RG must mean you were switched on that GOD MODE

And of course Safin vs Federe Aus Open 05' was epic, Federer was on his A game all night but Safin was Epic, I live in melbourne and was at the Aus Open grounds when i watched that one, was a great night

I think it's just because he is the most defense-oriented of the top 4 and therefore is most prone to losing against inspired big hitters.

no, he isn't. Its murray - verdasco AO 2009 , cilic USO 2009, berdych FO 2010, wawrinka USO 2010 etc ....

Nadal wasn't GOD MODEd against Rosol. I will give you the 5th set, but he wasn't in GOD MODE in the first 4 sets.

Btw, this is a great thread IMO.

Plus he had had troubles with James Blake, Nalby and Davydenko who are good at taking his shots on the rise.

He may have gotten more aggressive throughout the years, but his topspin shots still gives him trouble against big/flat hitters.

Eh of course i remember that beat down at RG 2008! they're both my favorite players :), what i meant was Players who have been GOD MODED by players that were relatively known (at the respective time) or lowly ranked, i didn't quite mean Players being GOD MODED by players such as Fed, Djoke, Nadal etc.

I probably should have stated that in my Original post lol

And yes 7 years! i remember lurking every few months as early as 2006' about what racquets are good and what not, because that's when i started getting into tennis, then every week since about 2008' that's when i really started getting into Tennis

Since winning THIRD grand slam (Wimbledon 2004), his never been GOD MODED By an unknown Player at a grand slam nor has he ever lost to any player outside of the top 10 at a grand slam

I think you meant to say 2004 FO when Guga God-moded him 6-4 6-4 6-4.

Rafa went all the way to the semifinals at AO 2008 without dropping a set, before Tsonga blew him away. I'd say Nadal was in exceptional form but was blindsided. He was actually very very impressive leading up to that match. Forehand and backhand were really clicking. He was the bigtime favourite to beat Tsonga that day.

Nadal of 2008 at AO was one year removed from the title and wom Wimbledon that year. He was a Hall of Fame player already

Two of them (I was there).

And a tendonitis flare-up as well as family trouble that year at RG.

How old are you? Guga defeating Federer in the French Open isn't an upset. Is the normal thing to happen.

Yeah, beat up overachiever Guga with a broken hip was the favourite to take out world #1 Federer in straights. What a Brazil-****. I suppose Ayrton Senna was also the most talented driver ever, too?

Even though he was ranked in the top 10, the way Sodering blasted Fed off the court at in the FO in 2010 was pretty impressive

Are you talking about talent or achievements? In talent, Ayrton was clearly the GOAT.

Guga "overachiever"? hahahaha drill this hate away, pal. And I believe that his hip was fine by there. And Kuerten always had a clutch against top players.

Want to know how many slams Kuerten would have won if he wasn't like the first guy to switch to poly strings and if he hadn't exploited the weak transition-era that was 1999-2003? A big fat 0 all day, every day. Deep down you also know this. He was no better on clay then than Bellucci is now.

Weak transition era? Pal, he beat Sampras and Agassi back to back to became world #1. In hard courts. The only one to do so.

He won his first French Open beating Muster en route to the title! He then beaten Ferrero in his other two consecutive titles.

Saying that Guga is overachieved is insane. His backhand was a way better than Federer's, haha. As a Clay-court specialist, he won Cinci against Rafter! Playing back to back matches in the same day. And he was runner up in Indian Wells, defeating Federer in straights.

Federer is my favorite player by miles, but you don't have to discredit Guga for his performance in 2004. Guga was a better claycourter than Federer was. Ditto. *******'s clay peak (2006 or 2009) was as good as Guga's prime.

And remember, Federer was #1 and was in the beginning of his monstrous prime.
