I studied tennis when I was 8 but stopped because my mom turned a ligament on her knee when she was preparing for a backhand drive ..

I tried tennis again last year and my mom said I drastically improve from zero to 3.5 to 4.0

My question is .. is it possible to reach 6.0 by next year and enter at least college level .. I'm willing to work hard .. my mom trains me almost 7 days a week ..

If you are a 3.5 right now there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of being a 6.0 in a year. There is a chance that you reach that level eventually if you work hard, are athletic, are talented, stay healthy and get a bit of luck. But it will take many years (if ever) to reach that level. My advice: Don't worry about NTRP or results, work hard, have fun, and see what you can do. Improvement and results will come on their own if you work hard.

If you can go from zero to 3.0 (+3) in a year, then by logical extension you should be able to go from 3.0 to 6.0 (+3) in a year.

It's just math, people.

Yep. And in your third year you can go from 6.0 to being the world's only 9.0!

The chances are not good.. but there's no harm in trying to get as good as you can in a year. Just don't let it hurt your academics

I hate to be the one to give you a hard dose of reality, but you are going to get beaten up by upper level 4.0 players for the next couple of years at least. There is no amount of practice that can substitute for match experience, and you simply need years of it to climb the levels in front of you.

Frankly that is really not a challenge, you play a few good hours a week and it is a given.

Now qualifying for Wimbledon 2015 that should be a bit of a hurdle for you. But given your drive and your intention to really work hard I think that you will be able to make it, and if you just miss it you for sure will qualify in 2016.

Let's us know when you play Wimbledon.

Sorry, but I don't know if you are a boy or girl here, but my daughter got serious at age 15 after being only a twice a month 30 min. hitter and went from a high 200 ranking to top 20s in just under 7 months, then went on to a college scholarship shortly after. I think it is more doable for the ladies for a couple of reasons if you are athletic like she is. She was a very good point guard in basketball before getting the tennis bug. Much less likely for a boy I'd say, but anything can be done with Desire and Belief. Exceptional coaching would be a must as well I expect.

You are late to the party – ten years ago you could have made 6.0 or higher easily. The 2004 – 2007 ATP level was about equal to the current 5.0, if not lower. Basically, everyone and their brother picked up rackets and racked up ATP points. But nowadays there is a lot of competition and the strong era, so you’re up against a challenge.

Pretty funny.

How old are you? Serious question not trying to be mean but from your post it sounds like you may be pretty young. Being a 6.0 is hard, it's essentially like becoming a pro. Aim as high as you can though and have fun most of all! :)

I wonder if somewhere in a golf forum you see posts that ask if it's possible to to go from shooting in the 90's to shooting under par in year by spending 7 days a week on the range - or if there's a basketball forum there'd be a post asking if it's possible to get to DI college ball in a year just by practicing jump shots and free throws in the gym all day. That's the thing. Even if you somehow manage to acquire all the stick skills in that short amount of time, you still have not been exposed to high level competition. You might be able to develop nice-looking strokes, but you will have no idea how to play a match, how to play a tournament.

It is possible.

However if your mum gets injured again, then you're stumped, like the first time. Tell her to hit more forehands this time.

You'll be set.
