Is it too late to show some love for the Volkl Tour 10 Gen I?

I just got it two days ago and I'm in love. I started off with the Quantum Tour 10 about a year ago and it helped me improve so much. It served its time well until I decided to get something heavier. I then switched to the DNX 10 Mid around 5 months back and stick with it ever since. But lately I've been in a hunt for the holy grail racquet again.

I tried the RDX500 Mid, Redondo MP, O3 Hybrid Hornet MP (why is it on the list I don't know), Tour 10 VE MP, nCode 6.1 90 Tour, ... but they all didn't feel quite right. But after the Tour 10 Gen I (it's Mid BTW) came, wow... it feels like home. It reminds me so much about the "Volkl Feel" that I got from the Quantum Tour 10 but somehow missing from the DNX 10 Mid. Now I understand why so many Volkl fans don't like the DNX series that much. The Gen I is so soft on arm and it communicates very well. I couldn't believe I could find a racquet better than the DNX but here it is.

Too bad it's pretty hard to find now. Anyhow, I got the C10 Pro on the way. I can't wait to hit with it. A lot of people says it's the best Volkl. I can't wait to find out! ;)

indeed it's a very nice stick, i like it more then the C10 cos its a little firmer, i dont have to string so high on the gen I.

mine is Quantum T10 mid, very soft and nice. bought it 2nd hand @ $25 USD.

no difference, exactly the same, some have the Quantum tour 10 mid, others just have tour 10 mid. just some earlier versions.

it's a little distracting with the quantum 10 tour that has 98 sq.inch.

No wonder why it says Quantum on the T10 Gen I too. I was a bit confused at first. The 1st Quantum Tour I had was the 98 sq.in. version which is a bit lighter.

great racquet..i'm still playing the MP version <about 5 years now>. they have enough firmness in the hoop so you can power the ball and hang with the pure drivers from the back. a thin beamer with sneaky power. teaching w. the dnx9. they are getting hard to find, but are findable if you are patient. i have 5 of them..one has Quantum on it and one is a prototype...they all spec the same. i think the dnx10 comes from the same mold

I feel the same too. On top of each other, they look almost exactly the same. I wonder why though that my DNX 10 Mid feels much stiffer and somehow the "Volkl Feel" is missing. It might be because I have Big Banger ALU (poly) on the DNX. The T10 Gen I has Gamma Live Wire (multi) on. Plus I also change the DNX grip to leather whereas the T10 has stock. The DNX is still great but T10 Gen I feels so much lighter and softer to me.

NBMJ: What tension do you recommend on the T10? Now I have it in a low 50s. Sometimes the ball still flies to the fence.

I string my MP's in the high 50's and it's still a loosy goosy type of frame where if you arent careful, hit late, etc, the ball will fly on you. The dnx stuff doesnt seem to do that for some reason, but doesnt feel like earlier Volkls. some people think that is good, and others thing bad. Perhaps the new BB stuff coming out in the summer will have more traditional Volkl feel. Yes, poly isnt exaactly known for having feel.

You likely think the Vokl feel is missing from the dnx10 for a couple reasons..first of all, it's got fiberglass in it, and secondly, the dnx material is strong and stiff and it feels that way.

anytime i raise the T10G2 serving problem, i got attacked...

but i like my QT10 mid so much, also like the comfort of T10G2, except when serving (on the upper hoop). The G2 feels much heavier and can tired me down in 45 min.

Is there any problem with my "particular" T10G2 stick ?? Should it be much heavier than the QT10 mid ?

NBMJ - the only volkl i've hit with is the T10V Mid. i understand it has fiberglass. how does the fiberglass affect the racquet? anyway, i really like the way it plays. btw - i think TW lists the flex as 60 for this racquet.

apologies for hijacking this thread.

hi there..fiberglass is softer/flexier, and usually heavier than graphite.

I really dug the Tour 10 Gen 1 MID but not so much the MP. On the other hand the Tour 10 Gen 2 MP is FANTASTIC. Have you tried it? Best, CC

I guess I need to check out the T10G2 also. ;) I just love the Volkl feel. I demoed the n6.1 Tour 90 for few days since I was so curious about it (of couse, due to Mr. Federer). I couldn't get used to it. I could serve faster with the n6.1 but other than that, everything else suffered. I was late too many times. Also Wilson grip shape is very different from Volkl's. I could feel what grip I'm holding better with the Wilson but for some reasons it messed up my middle finger. Volkl never harms me in any way.

Anyone would like to comment on the C10 Pro compare to the T10G1?

Thanks guys!

I've gotta show some love for the T10!!! Been playing with it for a couple for years and haven't found anything that I like better overall. Had a brief affair with a Pure Storm but it really messed up my strokes, (tried lead and everything), I LOVED serving with it though. Before the T10 I was playing with the C10, but when I hit with the T10 it was all over.
