Watch how Hewitt destroyed Sampras in a slam final. Djokovic wasn't better than that version of Pete in the most recent USO final.Slightly and only for now.
Safin was great on hardcourts but Med is a greater hardcourter and time will prove it.
Hewiit you say? lol. Watch how Med destroyed Djokovic aka the GOAT in a slam final when he was going for the calendar.
Med only needs one slam but he will win many slams and masters it won't even be close when he hangs up his racket.
Med is better than Davy, but Med also wouldn't reach slam finals if he faced Fed in 3 semis and a couple of quarters.Davydenko isn't part of this comparison, way below the other 3
Medvedev besides winning a slam against a guy going for his 4th in the year also has 2 slam finals vs 2 Goats while Davy failed to reach a single final.
A lot of hypocrisy will be exposed from some posters. Hewitt is still a transitional champion even though he destroyed Sampras in a slam final, but Med is a great player even though his win was easier than Hewitt's...I don't think Med is great hc player, I mean he struggles on slow surface.
Didn't like your wording about Hewitt, he was very good indoor player
Like I said, Hewitt will still be considered a transitional champ by some, while Medvedev will start being overrated even though his maiden slam win was weaker than Hewitt's. And the worst part is that he'll have a better career than many guys just because he'll play in a very weak era.The Med overrating is hilarious lol.

The fact that Djokovic can expose Med by employing a bit of variety says it all LOL. And that's not even his natural game.Yeah the present narrative is tiresome. For sure Hewitt would have made Djokovic pay for so much S&V lol.
Safin and kafelnikov way aheadIs Medvedev already the best male Russian tennis player of all time? If not, whom is better than him still (I picked the obvious three: Kafelnikov, Safin, and Davydenko), and what does he need to do in his career to pass them? I'm not sure, myself, how people feel he stacks up to those three.
I wanted Djokovic to win yesterday to see how Djokovic fans explained away the biggest choke in history. We now have the answer. Mededev apparently an ATG! Youbtube is great as some need to watch Kafelnikov and safin!!LOL wut? Safin routined a much better Sampras than not even top 5 at the USO Djokovic.
Only a Djokovic fanatic can think Med's level in USO 21 final even comes close.
I mean, he can't compare to their aggressive, on-the-rise ballstriking (mostly speaking of Davydenko here; I'm not as familiar with Kafelnikov), but he has his own talents. His movement for his height is remarkable and I think, compared to either Safin or Davydenko, he has better racquet skills on the full stretch (neither of them relies on those defensive racquet skills as much as they stand much closer to the baseline and play more offensive tennis, but it's still a talent). He's at least as competent as Davy up at net, who, legend has it, actually played a single-handed backhand volley once or twice in his career, and I think he beats Davy in the realm of slicing and mixing up the spin and placement of a shot.Medvedev isn't really as talented as Davydenko much less Kafelnikov.
Med is positioned well to have a dominating run in the next year or two, picking up slam titles.Like I said, Hewitt will still be considered a transitional champ by some, while Medvedev will start being overrated even though his maiden slam win was weaker than Hewitt's. And the worst part is that he'll have a better career than many guys just because he'll play in a very weak era.
2150 RPM is quite flat (relative to the field of course, but that's what matters) in today's game. Agassi modeled his game and designed his strokes according to the technology that was available to him at the time. Sure, there were exceptions like Bruguera or, much earlier, Borg, who could impart enormous amount of topspin on the ball with the gut strings, but the majority was still far behind players of today when it comes to the heaviness of the strokes (FH in particular). Are 2150 RPM forehands nothing to you? I guess not much compared to Nadal, but that's more topspin than Agassi ever used.

Needs one more slam to surpass Safin.Big Titles:
Safin 7
Medvedev 7
Davydenko 4
Kafelnikov 3
Getting closer, I think...
How many of those were as Neutral?Big Titles:

TBH Davydenko would be a slam winner in thus era

1 and a few finals like Med ? Yes but he's not a lock for more than that IMO.
He would've beaten Nadal in the 2022 AO final. I think he'd also win several USO titles.
Kafelnikov played in the era without big 3, Safin only caught a little. Medvedev lost 3 slam finals to big 3.Meh safin and kafelnikov were better players. Med isn’t doing anything they wouldn’t do it in this era. So far at least. Probably eventually med will be the greatest but that isn’t saying much right now in this era. Hell I’m sure davydenko could rack up HC titles today too
Medvdev is a very good player but I wouldn’t call him a great player by any sense. And he still needs to do do something off hardcourts too. Med has been very consistent though this year. For sure.
Kafelnikov played in a much deeper more intense 1990s era though and he was actually good on more than one surface unlike Medvedev. And safin beat prime Sampras and peak Federer at the slams . Med just beat winded past his best days djokovic in a slamKafelnikov played in the era without big 3, Safin only caught a little. Medvedev lost 3 slam finals to big 3.
Past his best days lol. Djokovic at 35 has more wind in his leg than Sampras at 31.Kafelnikov played in a much deeper more intense 1990s era though and he was actually good on more than one surface unlike Medvedev. Exactly. Hypothetical peakNo offense to Safin. But many people rate that guy on what he should have done. Not what he actually did.
I get the dude won one more slam. But he did pretty much nothing past 25 years old. Sorry Med has passed him. If someone is basing careers on one more slam difference that's silly.Safin is still probably the best but Medvedev passed the other two I think. Will need one more slam and he’ll pass Safin too, it’s looking good for him.

No. He was close to retirement.Pete in 2000 at the US open was tougher than 2021 US open Djokovic. Stop. Djoker sucked at the US open in 2021
