i asked. Djokovic says that all players are ATGs in his mindAsk Djokovic.
Edberg also had two grass AO though Murray never the chance of playing the AO on grasOn grass, Muzz would be an ATG. Edberg has 2 Wimbledon titles and was one of the greatest grass champions ever, so fair's fair.
I’d personally put Federer, Sampras, Borg, Djokovic, Becker, Edberg, McEnroe, and possibly Connors over him as far as Open Era is concerned. Due to his Olympic Gold on grass, he might be placed over Nadal.Surface all time great with two Wimbys? I don't know. Where does he rank all time on grass?
I think everyone would put the bolded names ahead of Murray since they all have more Wimbledon titles than Andy. One of them has four times the number of Wimbledon trophies as Muzz.I’d personally put Federer, Sampras, Borg, Djokovic, Becker, Edberg, McEnroe, and possibly Connors over him as far as Open Era is concerned.
Bit like Djokovic after Nadal.and Federer declinedSo Mury inflated his Wimbledon stats.
I disagree with the bolded part, but to each their own.I’d personally put Federer, Sampras, Borg, Djokovic, Becker, Edberg, McEnroe, and possibly Connors over him as far as Open Era is concerned. Due to his Olympic Gold on grass, he might be placed over Nadal.
Absolutely.
With the homogenisation of courts over the last couple of decades, it's hard to find a Post-Henman ATG on the pristine lawns.
It's pretty bloody embarrassing that they had to change the grass at Wimbers to accommodate the generic play of the likes of Nadal and Defaultovic.
Henman was an ATG on grass?![]()
He's British.Henman was an ATG on grass?![]()
I guess Stakhovsky is ATG too

Del Potro in a next tier down?Indeed, or maybe top 25. Smith, Ashe, Gerulaitis, Tanner, Curren, Cash, Stich, Ivanisevic, Krajicek, Hewitt, Roddick all have an argument for higher grass peak as well. Murray's peak is probably on par with Lendl, strong but below peak big game bots. Lendl played in a bery bery tuff grass era, mury might not have won a grass slam in Lendl's place either.
Del Potro in a next tier down?
Yeah consistency wise and achievements wise no.Despite his exploits against the Big Guns on grass not a single one of his 22 titles came on that surface.
Yeah consistency wise and achievements wise no.
Still better than a former 3rd round, eh?A similar grass anomaly is Tim Henman, a 4 times semi-finalist at Wimbledon and 3 times finalist at Queen's but came away with no grass titles to his name.
Still better than a former 3rd round, eh?
His Wikipedia page actually lists that third round among his other achievements:Peak Castle was an awesome sight to behold.
