Is Nadal the most underrated Hard Courter of all time

Just saw the DavyDenko vs Nadal thread on who is a better Hard Courter

Laughed my balls off. 2 USO, 1 AO(beat peak fed) vs 0. In addition to that has made a ridiculous number of hard court finals.

He also completed the coveted USO triple last year which people seem to be forgetting. Why do you guys act like the only surface he can play is Clay? Just this year he almost completed the Career Double Slam.

I'm pretty certain this guy is the most underrated hardcourter of all time

He is second (again) in that category.

#1 in it would be Davydenko.

Playing 3 finals in Both USO and AO

in slams : 6 finals, 3 titles
in m1000: 15 finals, 8 titles
in YEC: 2 finals, 0 titles
in Olympics: 1 final, 1 titles (gold)

and yet he is compared to davydenko..

How could Davydenko be a better hc player than Nadal when Davydenko has zero hc slams to Nadal's three and half the number of hc titles?

Seriously people, grow up already.

Roddick did it as his peak, its why people expected so much of roddick winning many more slam titles than he actually did.

Nadal is the only player to ever win Both the clay slam (montecarlo, madrid, rome, RG) in 2010 and the Summer slam (Canada cincinatti and USO) in 2013

If winning canaca-cincy-Uso in a row isnt anything special, then I dont know why It only happened twice....

He also won the grass slam (Queens-Wimbledon) and he did it playing the real grass warm-up. Not the one where people like Falla make the final.

But still no indoor slam.
I agree, I admire djokovic for his indoor slam (shangai, paris, wtf) and his Slow-HC slam? (AO,IW,miami) although I dont know if the latter one properly exist because the biggest event should always come at the fade of the triplet.

It's Nadal's own fault for the most part. His Clay achievements shadows all other parts of his game. If he wasn't the undisputed God of clay, he'd have been worshipped for his fighting and competing abilities on hardcourts. But now it just gets brushed under the carpet as nothing special.

I gotta start being a bit more positive MN. Loving the new avatar by the way!
Yes, you should. Focus on the good, like Nadal says, no one remembers the loses, no? Except on TTW.

And Thanks, I took it about 30 mins ago lol. Still sitting here listening to music with the headphones in.

No Nadal is just the luckiest hard courter of all time.
No way he is underrated. He can only be overrated here.

The player who is really underrated is Djokovic.

I haven't been here for long but from what I noticed, this poster likes repeating the same "Djokovic is the best. Djokovic is hated by others, because he's so great. You all keep under-rating Djokovic. Player X in the way of Djokovic is not half the player Djokovic is" jargon day in and day out.
Can any of you guys tell me whether this poster was always like this before, or has the account been recently hijacked by some broken record repeating bot?
I'm genuinely curious.

Now that the AI theory is out of the window, it's even weirder for me, cause that would mean a real life human being is out there obsessing, worshipping and spreading the Novak Djokovic myth like a gospel

Damn, nature, you scary!
good username

I don't spread myths or obsess about Nadal or tennis. Check my post history.
I love tennis though. I thought of making username "love, life and tennis" but then I choose this one instead cause Nadal is my favourite tennis player.
any sightings of his appendix scars yet?

I asked Nadal in the presser in AD last year whether he thought he had proved his critics wrong by winning the American Series on h/c and he said he doesn't care what people think.

No, he is where he belongs. He is not even 2nd on HC in his era.

He is not even top 5 indoor in his era.

On it's own that is great, but nothing goat worthy. Federer has 4 times more HC titles than Nadal.

Actually his poor HC record is the reason why Nadal can't be goat. You can't be goat if at 75% of surfaces where most tennis is played you aren't even top 5.

And sorry, his great clay domination, can't make up for his shortcoming on HC, no matter how much you wish it.

i thought that was donald young..........:)

As for the OP, that's the work of the federer troll brigade.........to downplay all of Rafa's achievements.......

Just the facts and no BS.

Djokovic 5 HC slams

Federer 9 HC slams

Nadal 3 HC slams

So the answer is no. He is not underrated.

But using the Davy logic that some like, Nadal wins over Fed hands down on h/c slam as their h2h is 3:0 to Nadal.

The other think people keep forgetting is that the Nadal-Davydenko Head2Head is 0-0 at the slams. You need balls at the slams, and that is why we measure greatness by slams, not by non-slams. Slam Head2Head is where its at (unless its 1-0, which could be a one-off/fluke).

Yeah, the Davy logic just shows that the h2h record can be skewed and misleading. That would mean James Blake wins over Nadal because he is 1-0 in slams and has a decent hc h2h overall against Nadal. Do I think Blake is a better hc player? Of course not based on slam wins and and wins against the field as a whole on hc. He was just a tough match up, like Davy, on hc.

What a lot of people are forgetting, including you, is that Davy and Blake are senior in age to Nadal, so it's nothing that they beat him on a court that he had not totally mastered at a young age.

Anyway, Nadal told me when I asked him about how people saw him as a hardcourt player, that he doesn't care whether people criticize him or not.

Good point. Peak Nadal on HC is 2010-2013. Prime Nadal on HC is 2008-2014. There are no excuses for losses in prime anyway, unless severely injured. Davy had one hot run during '08 - early '10
