Is Nadal's aim to beat Federer's slam record and be proclaimed GOAT?

I think Nadal is secretly planning to beat Federer's slam record and be proclaimed GOAT eventhough he'll keep denying this. Federer wont be winning any more slams unless Nadal and Djokovic are out of the tournament. So the mark is 16. Do you think Nadal can do it at the pace he is going say atleast 2 slams a year for the next 3 years?

Who knows if that is his plan.....but I dont think he will surpass Federer personally.....although he does keep surprising me!

why not? all he has to do is win 2 slams the next 3 years n he will only be 28 by then. FO and Wimbledons are a lockdown. Its quite possible.

The question wasnt if it possible, it was will he do it, I dont think so as I think it will get harder and harder as he nears the record and also slams are the very top of the sport he has been on the tour a long time he has to slow down soon? (although I hope not!)

Even if he slows down he still wins slams. Look at FO 11. There is nobody to challenge him in slams especially clay n grass. Federer is turning out to be a joke on both surfaces.

Federer just destroyed "unbeatable" Djokovic having not dropped a set getting to the semis on his worst surface, and you don't think he can win any more Slams?!

you're so childish that it's not even worth my time to prove you wrong (not that you'd listen). so instead i'll ask you, who do you enjoy to watch??

Federer for the genius that he is. But I also appreciate players who use variety and court craft, which excludes ******. Thx for asking :)

he's got at least 3 more FOs and 1 more slam elsewhere, most likely wimbledon. that's 14. beyond that is possible and would be great for him but it's going to get harder every year

Of course! Nadal tries to win every tournament he enters, just like every other player. I bet he would absolutely love to win 7 more GS titles. Whether he will or not is a different question, but no doubt the desire is there, especially since he's on 10.

(Djokovic isn't exactly a clutch slam player, so I think somebody else will have to enter the ATP to challenge Rafa if Federer's record is going to remain. Tomic? Seems to match up with Rafa nicely)

Even if Nadal reaches 16 GS (which i highly doubt) i will still regard Federer as the GOAT, not the undisputed, but still THE GOAT.

The DC debate is ********, Nadal comes from one of the strongest and healthiest tennisnations in the world, Federer comes from a country where 95% of the athletes are into the Alpine circuit and a country that has snow 75 % of the year.

How many DC-wins would Fed have if he was American? Serbian? Spanish? Thats right.

Nadal peaked in 2008 imo, the olympic games were held in 2008.

Federer peaked between 2004 (Athens) and 2008 (Beijing) so I wouldnt put that much weight into that either. Imo simply bad luck since Fed hadnt really grown into his GOAT-shoes in 2004, and in 2008 his peak was over, Nadal hit his.

Lets say that Nadal ends up with 15 GS shall we?

Which is more impressive, 8 FO, 3 Wimbledon, 2 USO, and 2 AO...OR...6 Wimbledon, 5 USO, 4 AO, 1 FO?? Thats right.

How about Federers 5 WTF?? How abou Nadals? *cough...cough* tada!! 0 WTF? What does this tell you? It tells me that Federer is healthy over the whole year and doesnt need to take long breaks in the middle of the season which Nadal has done for a few years-and still he couldnt come up with the goods at the WTF.

Federer plays tennis like a picasso, he floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee, it is as if his feet never touches the ground.

Nadal is like a caveman with a huge stick in his hand, running around clubbing down his opponents, grunting like a pig.

Finally, Federer overall just seems to be a much nicer guy, speaking from his heart unlike the Uncle-Toni-controlled-Robot that is Nadal.

Nadal v Fred = the Rumble in the Jungle. Nadal= Ali, Fred = Foreman. Fred has the big knockout shot, that just never lands. Nadal just outmanouvers Fred and makes him look like a clutz....By the last round(4th set) Fred is barely standing, his shots become totally innocuous, and he's easy pickings for the champ.

There is NO way Garbage-Fed can be considered the GOAT when he isn't even the greatest of his own era? If Rafa reaches 16 Slams, his dominant H2H is the clincher.... The Fedardscan try and spin other random titles to hide from that truth.... But i

If he was Spanish probably none because he'd leave it all to Nadal and the others. If he was Serbian, he'd leave it to Djoker and if he was American he'd leave it to Roddick. The guy doesn't care about glory for his country only himself that's why he doesn't give a s*** about DC.

Yep keep talking Fed's game up and Rafa's game down, it only makes Fed look worse for losing to him the majority of the time

Rafa's style is rock solid yet exciting and explosive at the same time. The ball shoots off the court like no other player can do that's why Fed's primitive SHBH almost ALWAYS breaks down against him. His running FH is a deadly weapon as is his explosive CC BH which is also a weapon of mass detruction to picasso's game.

Finally, Federer overall just seems to be a much nicer guy, speaking from his heart unlike the Uncle-Toni-controlled-Robot that is Nadal.

Yeah, so nice he had a custom made 15 jacket BEFORE he even beat Andy in the final, cried like a biatch when he lost the Aus Open final in 09, swore his ass off over a hawkeye call, told Dokovic's parents to "be quiet", sooked over hawkeye at Wimbledon, threw put down comments to Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic amongst other players and continuously argues with umpires over line calls like an idiot as if they're gonna change the hawkeye decisions.

IMO, to be in the very highest level of legends, he must at least achieve 250-260 weeks at number one, win at least 5 slams at one of the other slams (Wimby, AO, or US Open--proving that he can be dominant somewhere other than clay) , probably win a couple of WTF's, and maybe a couple of other things.

He clearly is one of the greats and maybe the greatest on clay but has some more to accomplish to reach SAmpras, LAver, Fed, etc. to prove that he can be dominant against the field and dominant somewhere other than clay.

Alot of NAdal fans try to argue that his winning H2H against Fed on clay somehow relieves NAdal of having to achieve all of these other hallmarks....it's really a bit silly.

All of that said, there is no such thing as GOAT.

yes, but by the end of it, Ali has Parkinsons and Foreman made a ton selling grills. Life ultimately will decide the true GOAT.

Nope,Nike made it as a surprise to Fed and handed it to him when he won the match,he said after that he didn't even know they made it.

It's funny how he knew exactly where the 15 was when the lady interviewed him on the court right after the match, pretty insightful for somebody who didn't know about it. The truth is, if he had any respect for Roddick, he'd have just stuck with his normal jacket for the trophy presentation instead of immediately deciding to rub it in.

Nadal is clearly the best of this era, guys... That's right, #1 in the world two times. That's right, TWICE. Federer was only #1 five times. So Federer is not the greatest of his own era. So how can he be the greatest of all time?

Oh yeah all Federer's #1s don't count 'cause his era was too easy. Seriously, are they in the same era, or not? People need to stay consistent.

No doubt about it that Nadal wants to catch Roger. Even in the ranking department. Notice he chose to play Queen to keep hist atp points further ahead of Novak. Pretty clear he wants to catch EVERYTHING that Roger has accomplished. If rafa denies that, he's lying.

The bolded part is nonsense. All Nadal is thinking about right now is getting in some grass-court matches at Queen's Club in preparation for Wimbledon. His next opponent is Stepanek, a main stay on the ATP Tour for many years, so that is what has his focus. I think Federer likes to see the bigger overall picture and doesn't stay as rooted in the present as Nadal does. I'm not saying either approach is better or worse, just different.

Nadal always stated that he wants and needs to improve. If he has a goal to get better, then his desire is to win more and more. He’s the most hungriest player I’ve ever seen. I don't believe he will rest until he complete his goal.

Fed had no choice b/c he was being pressure to catch Sampras, and even the FO. Nadal will be pressure too. You watch.
