Is Pacific no longer being sold?

Hi TW,
Will you ever get any restocks of Pacific natural gut? Or has their distribution in the USA has ended?

So, its my understanding that Pacific North America is no more. Tom Parry (who was essentially Pacific North America) has "left the building", and is no longer in the business. As such, they (Pacific) do not have a way to distribute their products in the states. You can buy directly from Pacific (if you had a contract w/ Pacific North America), but...
  1. You have to order a minimum of $1500 (that's a LOT of gut...).
  2. You need a VAT number.
Since neither of those are likely to happen, Pacific products will slowly fade away from dealers here until either (a) current stock is exhausted, or (b) they establish another distributor in the states.

I heard Tom Parry is working for IMG Academy now.
The US is the biggest tennis market. If Pacific wants to be a player they have to figure out some distribution.
On a separate subject. I’ve tried that Luxilon gut and Pacific is a thousand times better. It’s a real loss to the market place.

Interesting. I hadn't heard where he landed, but someone had said we was 'getting out of the business', but maybe he meant the 'Retail' portion of it.

Agreed. Tough Gut was my favorite. Even Classic was better than Luxilon.

Oh for the days of pre-BT7 and Bow Brand...

$1,500 seems like nothing for a large tennis company to pick up! Even an individual who wanted to start a side business. I don't know how involved it is to get a VAT ID though.

I really wanted to try Pacific Gut after hearing all the reviews and was disappointed when I couldn't find it anywhere stateside.

You can find them through European website. Google it. Can’t post the links here as it’s not allowed.

Tom’s official title at IMG is Director of Racquet services. So, I guess they are doing what the USTA has at the National Campus

I tried to email their EU website a few times with zero results, no reply. They need to indicate whether they are trading or not.

I'd got the same results. And then I had the idea to try again via German contact form (/de/kontakt) writing in German language
(Google translate from Eng to Ger is your friend to that).
And ...Voila! Two grommet sets for my 105 sq. in. racquets are in the way!

That is awesome, I have some X Feels that I need grommets for and I'll try doing the same. Did you see your 105 sq in racquet grommets listed somewhere on their German website? I'm just asking because I'm not even sure if they'll have what I'm looking for.

No, there aren't in their website. Actually there aren't available in any webstore anywhere!
After my request they reply to me with a proforma with the Art. No of the grommets.
Also there was a full descriprtion of the racquet which they fit in. Pacific X Force Comp in my case.
Then I cross-check this given Art. No in other webstores and it was similar .
I will get them this (upcoming) week. You may wait for my feedback.
The "bad" thing is that I have to pay almost 30 euros for the DHL delivery in Greece...
Those 2 sets cost me 56 euros. But I have 3 105 racquets and they are my "regulars" now, so I can't complain for such a rare part those days...
Unfortunatelly I've missed the last set of grommets in TWE few months ago where usually I order with free shipping.

Thank you very much for your detailed answer. I will also look forward to your feedback once you have them with you.

I got them yesterday. Are fine. Racquet model is also presented on a sticker on the packaging of the grommets (Grommet Set 16x19 - SP.0080.01.00 - XForce Comp). I've test them on the racquet too and they fit nicely.
Two small Pacific promo gifts (a gym bag and a plastic sports water bottle) also included in the parcel for free!

Mine are Pro 95. I believe slightly updated M Comps (if I'm not mistaken).
Yep. Sightly lighter M-Comps (320g X Feel, 330g M-Comp). I used the M-Comp 95 for ~ 3 years. Loved that frame. But, if there is one thing Pacific improved on, it was the grommets.

Ask anyone who used the M-Comp 95: If you simply looked at the frame in the wrong way, the grommets would crack. I've never replaced grommets on a frame as frequently as I did in those 3 years. Its the main reason I stopped using the frame...I couldn't find them anymore.
