After having watched all of Robin Soderling's matches this past week at the WTF and seeing him blow one easy sitter volley after another over and over, I am now convinced of several things: 1. Soderling is the worst volleyer in the ATP, perhaps even the worst for a pro I've ever seen. 2. More evidence that two-handed backhand players have weak volleys, especially one-handed backhand volleys. 3. That even most 4.0 players have better volleys than Soderling. It's really a shame. With that huge serve and huge forehand, he gets a lot of weak replys that are sitters at the net but he can't take advantage of them because his volleys are so bad. He doesn't serve and volley at all even though his opponents are barely getting their racquets on the return and floating or lobbing returns back. And when he crushes a short forehand in the corner and is forced to come into the net, he usually blows the easy volley. If this guy learned how to actually hit a volley, he could easily be in the Top 5 or higher.
