Is Safin retiring this year or not?

I keep getting conflicting answers. My understanding is that he had hinted at retiring at the end of the season. Then seemed to suggest a month or two into the season that he would play another year, but now I'm reading articles saying that this year will be his curtain call. Anyone know for sure?

As far as I know, this is to be his last year on tour...

As a player and a fan, I'm sad to see him go. One of the most talented, smoothest, and purest ballstrikers ever to play the game. Though he had his meltdowns, his great personality and his antics made his matches a bunch of fun to watch.
