is silent partner swing still sold?

I was looking around at the various entry level stringers (around 200$) to start myself off with stringing and had decided that silent partner string seemed best for me. From what I have read, the two positives of klippermate and gamma x-2 are clamps and tension mechanism. The silent partner has good clamps and a good tension mechanism, and also has a (almost) 6 point mounting system, which for me would justify the little more it cost. However, I tried to find one online and couldn't find it. Even their sight didn't have it http://www.sptennis.com/stringer.asp . Is this machine still sold?

It was a while back that SP went out of the stringing machine buisness.
Some people picked up some good deals at that time when they were dumping their inventory.

Check out the Eagnas Hawk 26: http://www.eagnas.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=23_30&products_id=140

I't's nearly the same as the SP Swing, except it adds a linear gripper instead of the SP rotational one (an improvemnent, I think). I have the Swing, but if I had to replace it, this is the one I'd be looking at, in spite of the bad reputation Eagnas has for customer service.

smoking crack is bad for you !

at $189 for that Eagnas I wouldn't even consider it over a klippermate or gamma progression 200/x-2

Heck the gamma is $20 less and ships for free.

Eagnas has a few models I might consider if my budget were around $400 and I wanted fixed clamps but at this price point it makes no sense.

If I can't get the swing I'll probably end up getting klippermate or gamma x-2. I believe I've read somewhere you can add a ratcheting system to klippermate. How hard/costly is it. And for the x-2: is it worth spending more on better clamps and are there any relatively cheap ones. Stringway are $50 a piece and I don't want to spend another $100

I'm not aware of an after-market ratchet for the Klippermate.

The lack of ratchet should not be a deal breaker for you-- with a little practice you can tension nearly as fast using a simulated ratcheting motion letting the string slip in the gripper, but it does require learning some minor technique.

There are oodles of threads on the topic of K-mate vs X-2. Suffice it to say that both machines are functional, despite their relative short comings. No need to spend much energy on the decision; pick one and string away.

Ok, I'll be getting a klippermate. It seems very recommended to get a starting clamp also. What is a good but not too expensive starting clamp and also are there any other tools I should get.

The Klipper comes with a starting pin. It's a great machine, easy to use and makes stringing fun. Order it and get started.

^^You may need a starting clamp, but many manage without one. If you have a starting clamp there is no need for a start pin.
