Excellent, unique player. Pretty much all of the past ATGs would still be elite today. I think Larry’s shooting would shine even more today, as would a player like Jerry West
I think Bird would be amazing today, somewhat likely an equivalent player to Scottie Barnes. Not neccessarily better IMO, cause it’s really hard to outdo current Scottie, the face of the Raptors, the chosen one.

As long as basketball is discussed among true fans, the name of Michael Jordan will be up there with the Beals, DeRozans, Herros etc.

Guys who were a key part of their eras.

''I think I'm the most complete player to have existed. In my opinion, I think it's me. I do everything well in football: with my head, free-kicks, left foot. I'm fast, I'm strong.

"One thing is taste. If you like Messi, Pele, [Diego] Maradona, I understand that and I respect that, but saying Ronaldo isn't complete - I'm the most complete. I haven't seen anybody better than me and I say it from the heart."

Is Ronaldo right? Who is the most complete player in history? Let us know your thoughts below...''
To be honest I don't think it's that over the top having belief in yourself as a pro athlete. With the media always bringing up the debate.

Ironically I think Ronaldo is actually a specialist and not a fully complete do-everything playmaking engine.

And that his best GOAT case is that he compromises nothing in your build up play and can fit with any sort of variable chance creation, whereas Messi requires a team built around him and a specific style of play resultant from that.

With Messi it's just his godly combo of scoring and playmaking. It's unseen and he did it for more or less 15 years at top level.

It's like he is a Xavi of playmaking combined with Ronaldo's goal scoring. I think Ronaldo's team built a great system around him as well just "different"

Which of those two would you be more confident about?
Wimbledon. Think he probably makes the final at RG and loses to Raz in five but avenges the loss at W.

Reason - Sinner holds serve so well. It’s hard to break him when fully fit.

I wouldnt be surprised if he defeats Alcaraz at RG. I noted a big improvement in his defense at the AO this year, and I do believe the time has come to win some clay titles. He could even achieve the sunshine double this year.

wait didn’t you say Russell is better than LeBron so why would mediocre offense stop someone from being the GOAT? ;)

I’m probably overreacting but Wembanyama does things no player in NBA history has done or could do. Defensively is he there yet on a consistent night to night basis, no, not like they were, but I think he has the highest defensive ceiling ever. Dude is going to absolutely obliterate blocks records and he seems to be able to get his hands on more than anyone I’ve seen. And he is far from food on the perimeter. The things I’ve seen him do are inhuman. He just turns guys away with the force. I think he will clean up at DPOY for the foreseeable future (which will only inflate his resume and GOAT case)

They just need to get real defenders around him especially another big and it’ll be a perennial elite defense on his back. 4 blocks per game with mucho deflections and all the rim deterrence to go with it. Just unthinkable. That’s my ceiling case and why I say he can surpass MJ/LeBron - his defensive impact will be so ludicrous.

At the same time I actually agree with you I had much lower confidence in their front office before this trade. The Sochan experiment was just embarrassing and their GM seems super high on non-shooters which is a bit of a red flag. Chris Paul (all time great) is doing a ton of heavy lifting for that team functionally which will be hard to replace long term.

Still just getting a Fox this early will really help. I think that’s what was clearly missing in the development environment, someone who can actually profit off wemby’s gravity. His offense is a weird mix between KD and a more traditional big, and imo the self creation from the perimeter is not something I want a 7’4” guy relying on long term. This will get him into more predictable patterns closer to the basket and open up his screening and rolling. I like the move a lot.
Because with the way the game has changed I don’t think it’s even possible to have the amount of defensive impact Russell had in his prime. If I believed Wemby was capable of reaching Russ levels of defensive impact then I would think he’d be on track to be goat.

At the highest level once you reach these level of freak athletes IQ and communication can be more important than a little extra length or burst. Defensively skys the limit for sure but I need to see more before I’m comfortable projecting him above guys who are on the defensive Mount Rushmore.

I have always had and continue to have faith in the spurs organization. This was 1 good move. They don’t need many more to be in perennial title contention and while titles aren’t the end all be all for me they certainly will be in the public consciousness.

Efficiency, calm, aggressiveness, discipline and execution.
Number 1 in the ranking by far.

Last year the German player said his backhand was by far the best on tour. After his decisive loss against Sinner, he stated that the Italian has a way better backhand than he does. Why does he instill so much fear?

Sinner is fearless against anyone on the tour.

I hope you are not serious about this. Raducanu is the living exemplar of "fluke." Her U.S. Open triumph is the only title of her career. It's the only tour-level final of her career. Sinner has three straight hard court slams plus the YEC. Raducanu has spent a total of five weeks in the WTA top 10 in her entire career (and all at no. 10, so barely there). Sinner has spent 35 weeks at no. 1 already and is holding that rank. Even if Sinner retired tomorrow, he could not possibly be compared to Raducanu in terms of total achievements.

Sinner was already better than Raducanu before he won his first grandslam.

Jannik needs to beat Carlos in a major to truly take that final step as the best player in his generation. He’s definitely more consistent and mature in his game but Carlos has a level he can go to where he can take over a match, similar to how Federer would just hit people off the court. Problem with Carlos is he hasn’t learned how to consistently play at a high level like Sinner has. This year I’d like to see Jannik get better moving forward and at net, that seems to be the weakest part of his game and helps explain why he struggles against Alcaraz

Jannik not Carlos is showing dominance like Federer. Just like Federer, Jannik is great front runner and bad in longer matches.
