Is Sinner embracing being the villain?

There is no universe in which Lies is generally considered one of the best albums of the 20th century. The only Guns N' Roses album that matters artistically to music fans at large, rather than to hardcore GN'R devotees, is Appetite for Destruction. The rest of the band's output is essentially a series of footnotes to their one significant work.

I'm with you on the first part but I'm as big of a GnR fan as you'll find outside the crazies...and I almost never listen to Appetite, it's all the Use Your Illusion stuff.

LIES was considered better than Appetite albeit not as commercially successful . Appetite sort of built on Lies didn't it?

Use Your Illusion albums were mainstream albums as by then GNR were a standard mainstream band in the 90s.

An "edgelord" is a guy who likes to say provocative things and then call other people babies/play the victim when their provocative words actually provoke. Have definitely got that impression of you before today and this just cements it. Anyone reasonable understands that the N-word is completely different in meaning depending on who's sending/receiving it.

Edgelords say things like "women shouldn't vote" or "black guys say n-----, why can't I?"
I have never said anything provocative at all. In my country there is common law judgements where the use of the N word is not racist!! It caused controversy at the time but Judges made the point I have made to you that it cannot be racist when it is used so commonly by that community to refer to themselves. However police and the courts have found a way round that as using that word can still get someone charged under using threatening words or behaviour as of course that can be applied across the board. By contrast the P word is deemed racist under law.
You have jumped to a conclusion about Sinner unfairly. He is entitled to enjoy whatever music he so wishes and it's unfair to call.him 'based'. Maybe he liked the song as its a good tune, which is why i like it.

I am LOVING Sinner doing exactly as i suggested he should do on his return,. Absolutely sticking two fingers up to the haters. The swagger (and he is even exaggerating it a bit at times), the sly smirks, its just brilliant. I do love Alcaraz (when he is focussed about tennis) but Sinner is just so 1980's and a throwback. His music choice is interesting as well, loves heavy metal stuff from the 70's and 80's. Im sure i read somewhere years ago his favourite song wasnt a true heavy metal band (they were more punk/soft metal if anything) but the Guns N Roses song One in a Million from the album Lies. He is a good lad is our Sinner.
Whoa - Sinner is a metalhead?? I didn't expect that as he doesn't come across like one. That actually makes me like him more :-D

When a white dude says it to a black person it is racist, dude. Any normal person knows this. You are too old to be acting like a 20yo edgelord

And Axl literally said he wrote the song to **** off the black guys who tried to hustle him in LA

i know, chris probably wants this off the internet these days...

@messiahrobins

So where did you hear this was his favorite song? I googled "Jannik Sinner" and "Guns and Roses" and didn't really find anything.

I think someone may have gotten the songs mixed up. There's a 2021 video of Sinner saying Eminem's "Lose Yourself" is his favorite song, and Queen's "We Are The Champions" was his favorite childhood song.

Nadal did the same thing 3 years later against your idol.
Yep!

Didnt know about Eminem, albeit that actually would feed those who want to try and slur Sinner as a person more than him liking GNR, but yes you are definitely right about Queen. As an aside, i am sure it doesnt play any part in Sinner's choices, but Eminem and Queen were quite right wing in their views back in the day.

Perhaps, but you said 'One in a Million' was Sinner's favorite song and that you heard about it around covid time when he was a gangly teenager. I googled 'Sinner's playlist', and sure enough there he is as a gangly teenager in 2021 naming his favorite song. But it isn't a song telling n****** to stay out of his way and f****** to stop spreading diseases, but one saying don't miss your chance to blow because opportunity comes once in a lifetime.
