Is Tennis In Limbo Right Now?

I think there's too much money in the game for the younger players to be hungry..
I was reading the sampras book and he talked about becoming a millionaire after he won the US Open.. cut to now you have players like tomic and kyrgios who are millionaires with their results, it shows it's a different tour these days...
back then it seems it was more dog eat dog.. Now it's more like a buffet with plenty to go around for everyone..
That is probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
You know how hard it is to get by if you're not in that top 100?
If a player plays a Challenger event, they literally cannot so much as break even unless they make the semifinal.
Total prize money for the USO has gone up over 400 percent since 1990. The prize money for the Challenger events has flatlined in that same time period.
This means it's very possible for players to lose money even if they win a tournament outright.
String jobs alone for a year of pro play cost about $9000.
Travel expenses cost upwards of $30,000.

Players these days have reason to be hungry. Because with financial situations like these, the lower ranked players might just literally go hungry. If a pro player ranked world #250 has to fight to scrape together enough cash for a Motel 6, there's something wrong.
