Is the high amount of choking in WTA matches linked to the increase...

...in Eastern European players? It seems that choking has never been so widespread in the women's game and I was wondering why that is. Is it because the tour is dominated by so many players from this region, who are perhaps more likely to be mentally fragile?
Just to clarify though, I'm not suggesting that all chokers are from Eastern Europe, or that all players from Eastern Europe are chokers. But is there a link?

Yes it is clearly because the inferior slavic race are known for choking in tennis. Or maybe it's because they hate freedom and capitalism.

No, I think its b/c there are so few women who have won a slam other than the Williams sisters, Sharapova and Henin since 2006 that when they get to that situation they choke. As Billie Jean King said, "Everyone chokes...the champions just choke less."

You sir are a fool!

it's hard not to choke when your opponent (one of the williams sisters) is serving 120 mph, that's the serving speed of top players in the atp

I do not think the prdoblem is racial, however, I do think the Sharapova-forward generations of that region have been taught a doomed-to-fail "ultimate aggression/all or nothing" mentality....with the inferior baseline basher/no "B" or "C" game. When this all or nothing, aggressive approach fails against more talented / intelligent players, they are guaranteed to shatter technically and emotionally, as seen in the Wimbledon semifinal between Safina and Venus, where Safina proved she had no weapons-a "B" or "C" strategy against a superior opponent.

...and as another example, we all recall Hantuchova's frequent on-court crying fits when her arrogance failed her, or Vaidisova's out of control rage meltdowns.

Until this "ultimate aggression/all or nothing" baseline idiocy is drummed out of pro training, you will continue to see meltdowns, and on-court emotional collapsing.
